what was the reason to run new election instead of promoting next runner up per results of prior one that run just 4 months ago? What's different from Programmers when we had next runner up nominated when one of moderators decided to retire?

to avoid misunderstanding, I do not object, just want to understand

@gnat Looking at the summery of the last election I would guess the new election is because the last one didn't really have a clear runner up.

You can click through to the election phase as well as the nomination phase. (or if there were more than 10 nominees, the primary phase)
