I've realized I must limit my Factorio playing to only with others on a scheduled bases. I waste to much time otherwise when I should be finishing books: 2 about unit tests, C# in depth, dependency injection. I also have that best coding practices book too.... #WhereDoesTimeGo

Q: Is this method of instantiation follows design patterns and clean code?

DBalazsI'm writing a small game and I use Kotlin for that. I want to model my buildings with the following class: class Building ( val name: String, val inputs: Array<Resource>, val outputs: Array<Resource> ) {} I want to create multiple instances of this class for the map but I don't wan...

Q: Loop Vue2 tag with keyup + modifier and click

RamoFXI have following code but wonder if I can loop it instead of copy-pasting. calculator.ts data: function() { return { calcInput: 'user types some value in input with v-model' } }, template: ` <span class="calc-button-control" @click="evaluate()" @keyup.enter="evaluate()" >...

Why does anybody teach Swing today?

1 hour later…
11:29
@SimonForsberg I have zero say in the matter.
Good morning everyone :) ! Have a nice day
I don't mind small Swing application. Developping a real app in Swing oh yeah kill me.
I can't say why. It's not really a focus on learning Swing. The topic for the week is GUI and it's a Java based course. So it is taught using Swing.
I don't really know what the alternatives are...
For Java not much. JavaFX at some point but not sure where this is at. There's no real GUI thingy for Java for "native" desktop. Most of the java world is either backend services or command tool
ahh. JavaFX is going to be covered briefly as well.
Not sure how else you would cover GUI in a Java-based curriculum then. I'm just glad that we aren't using C++ for it.
(And I love C++)
ReyRey ate a treat for Sophie and this morning I surprised her eating her food. She tried to feed me some once too. That kid has no taste ahah

@Marc-Andre For modern development, JavaFX is a lot better than Swing. But neither probably really has the traction that they would like to have. It's all web-development these days.
And honestly, I am perfectly okay with that ^^ Let's make all GUIs web-based (except for some games of course.... I'm not saying that Factorio should be made in HTML and CSS...)

@Phrancis Monking!
19:50
@SimonForsberg What's the good word today?
@Phrancis Fishing net.
@Phrancis What?
20:12
@Marc-Andre Just a manner of speech for asking what is up :P
20:26
@SimonForsberg And why is fishing net something that is "up" for you today?
@Marc-Andre Just having fun with a girl on Tinder.
20:41
@SimonForsberg New girlfriend?
@skiwi Umm... Not sure how much you know about Tinder but no. Tinder is like the very very very very very first first first step.
On a progress bar from 1 to 100, we're at 0.7
I thought Tinder was for going from 0 to sex very quickly...
Not that I ever used it. I got taken off the market long before Tinder came around...
@SimonForsberg I've never used Tinder before, only know you need to swipe
@brug That can be true for some guys. I am not one of them.

> Discarded cards currently look exactly the same as played cards which is confusing.

Change how discarded cards look, probably make them a bit smaller.

This involved editing the `HanabiCard` component, probably need to add a property to that component indicating that the card has been discarded.
[Zomis/Server2] Zomis added label needs-refinement to issue [#51: [Hanabi] Remove user icons on top](github.com/Zomis/Server2/issues/51)
[Zomis/Server2] Zomis created comment on issue [#51: [Hanabi] Remove user icons on top](github.com/Zomis/Server2/issues/51)
> I should add that at the moment how this component looks depends on how many players are in the game.

Please try to think about solutions that can be applicable to many situations, depending on the game being played and the number of players etc.
> Trying to go away from the event based approach, so skipping this.
> Combine as much of this as possible with automated tests. Write tests that writes documentation.

See for example https://github.com/Zomis/Server2/tree/809d86dcea2399aed36bb853ec58e636c10f859e/games-server/src/test/kotlin/net/zomis/games/server2/invites/InviteSystemTest.kt#L92
[Zomis/Server2] Zomis created comment on issue [#59: [Hanabi] Watching the game as a guest is confusing](github.com/Zomis/Server2/issues/59)
> How about allowing the observer to choose from which perspective to watch? The same principle could also be applied to watching replays, and to playing games in local mode.
> Possible Vuetify component: Floating action buttons. Alternatively, use CSS position: fixed w3schools.com/css/css_positioning.asp
> Using the DSL approach of making games helped with this a whole lot more. Then the client can simply request the current game view when joining.

Also, the fact that the game needs to be loadable from database also has an impact here.

I love the smell of closed issues in the evening!
I am considering renaming Server2 to simply "Games". That would make the github URL Zomis/Games which would fit more with the tab title in the browser, "Zomis' Games"
@Duga @Phrancis ^^
@SimonForsberg Got it! ^^
Merge pull request #10 from Zomis/patch-2

Not even metapneumovirus, easily the common cold virus with the coolest name, warrants our sympathy. Colds suck. No mercy.
