You know, I was thinking it might be fun on occasion, for instance when 0.5 is out, to do a Google Hangout for a bit and invite people from next door to try the game, talk about it and stuff. Thoughts @anyone?

@Phrancis I barely even knoww what google hangout is

It's a bit like Skype, but for groups. You can share your screen too, which is cool. SE do one of those on occasion when they do maintenance/upgrades on their systems, for instance.

12:33 AM
aha

12:56 AM
@Marc-Andrewill tonight work for you still, or is it getting too late?

1:14 AM
I;m waiting for you on skype
@Phrancis I may speak in french though since I'm not good to speak in English

I was planning on it as well :)
Skype did not ping me, weird

2:31 AM
@Marc-Andre This is a bit odd, but after replacing the slashes, index.html works fine but all others give me this thing:
> HTTP Status 500 - Request processing failed; nested exception is org.thymeleaf.exceptions.TemplateInputException: Exception parsing document: template="news", line 24 - column 5
(I replaced slashes in other files too)
Line 24 col 5 is: </head>
between / and h

@Phrancis Could you copy the whole stack trace
Thymeleaf is a bit strict on the syntax of html

Stack trace == Console??

StackTrace == Error message on the browser when the site break

o
HTTP Status 500 - Request processing failed; nested exception is org.thymeleaf.exceptions.TemplateInputException: Exception parsing document: template="news", line 24 - column 5

type Exception report

message Request processing failed; nested exception is org.thymeleaf.exceptions.TemplateInputException: Exception parsing document: template="news", line 24 - column 5

description The server encountered an internal error that prevented it from fulfilling this request.

exception

org.springframework.web.util.NestedServletException: Request processing failed; nested exception is org.thymeleaf

@Phrancis The element type "link" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</link>".
just add / add the end of your balise like this<link />

2:38 AM
Ah, XHTML stuff huh. Didn't notice that, good catch

well yeah they use a strict version of html 5 (it still html 5 but more strict ) it's not xhtml though (not sure)
that another thing I don't like about Thymeleaf ;)

Guess I better just start closing my damn tags lol

yep because I had a lot of those :P
You'll probably run into some unclosed div too :P
TTGB CYA

Good night :)

5 hours later…
7:46 AM
hey

2 hours later…
10:10 AM
hoi

2 hours later…
11:54 AM
let's see what happens
hmmmm...

hey @Vogel612

intereesting...

nothing happened?

I get a 404 when I try to have javabot post something here

wrong URL?

11:57 AM
http://chat.stackexchange.com/chats/16134//messages/new

s/chats/rooms/

nope

s/ // / / /

that works for the so chat

        parameters.put("text", message.getMessage());
        parameters.put("fkey", this.chatFKey);
        try {
			Resource response = agent.post("http://chat.stackexchange.com/chats/" + message.getRoom() + "/messages/new", parameters);
hmm... seems like you are correct. it is /chats/
I'd still try only one / though... I mean... it can't hurt trying, can it?

12:00 PM
sure it can't..
let's see if he listens to this one..
**shutdown
doesn't look like it...
nevermind..
he listens properly, the posting doesn't work though
but hey, all shutdown messages get delivered properly!
now I'm getting one 404 and then 409's

12:27 PM
lol...
I just logged myself out by sending the wrong fkey...
test

1:03 PM
Monking!

Hiya @Unihedro

@Vogel612 Hiya!

1:19 PM
> avoiding compiler warnings in Initializer
> added extra check to avoid unnecessary chat message on startup
> added detection of comments mentioning Programmers to Duga's Playground for evaluation
Monking!

@Duga um... monking!

hey @Unihedro

1:37 PM
> This is technically posted to the wrong repository, but oh well....
> Recently the Tomcat server is running out of memory. I believe this started to happen quite recently, possibly with either the Github API requests or the StackExchange API requests, or with the refactoring of the daily updates. Either way, try to locate this bug.

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #699 for commit 0ec28cac on branch gdx passed

now that's what I call awesome..
the JavaBot lived through a full hibernate
and still listens and reacts to messages

Awesome!

a hibernate?

2:22 PM
save ram to disk and shut down
on restarting restore the ram-state from disk

aha, that kind of Hibernate

2:36 PM
not the ORM ;)

3:04 PM
Monking!

Monking @Phrancis

Bah, just realized I forgot to commit the changes Marc-Andre and I made last night -_-

@Duga no I didn't

@SimonAndréForsberg Interesting...

3:17 PM
I didn't either, though I was just in there... Auto-remove on close, perhaps??

It could be waffle.io?

but why me?

Zomis removed the in progress label 18 minutes ago (on github)
So how do Waffle use your account for this I don't know
But your account did it for sure

> This is done since 2014-12-22 and no further comments. Will update again as needed when 0.5 is rolled out.
> @Zomis I noticed this one In Progress. Rules were updated on #142 and a good portion of the game is explained on the website now. Shall we close this?
> @Phrancis No, this is about updating the README.md for the repository. It should be less about developer guidelines and more about wwhat this project is.
> @all - Do you think we should just drop VANILLA altogether and just stick to "New Attack Style"? I haven't played vanilla since like 0.2 I think, New Attack Style is more interesting IMO.

3:39 PM
@SimonAndréForsberg I don't have much work to do here today, at least right now, so if you'd like I can draft/update README.md. Perhaps developer guidelines should be moved to the wiki instead?

@Phrancis that would be a good idea, yes

Ok, want me to make a pull request or update a specific branch (for the README)?

use a branch

develop ok?

3:46 PM
I think he meant start a branch :P

no, I think it's better to use one of the branches you've been working on before
or create a neww one
2

@SimonAndréForsberg OK

sooo many branches
2

3:49 PM
The tree of life codes!

See @SimonAndréForsberg a 0.5 release would be a good thing

> Created branch repo-documentation for this purpose. Will move developed guidelines to wiki and leave a link to there (and other pages) on the README.md.

I can't type today -_-

@Marc-Andre it wwowuld...

@SimonAndréForsberg Is pretty much off the table at this point, at least for the foreseeable future?

4:01 PM
Learned a new word today (the orthography)

@Phrancis yeah, I don't think anyone has time to work on that for now.

@Phrancis It could still be added easily once card effects via mods are supported

"easily"? I think you're under-estimating the work, @skiwi.
it depends on which part you want to support though, of course

@SimonAndréForsberg Ok, take away the easily then!
I only have a mirror of the Java API in mind, but written in Lua as it's more familiar to modders

4:04 PM
> Update README.md

Removed developer related sections and added more detail to "Playing the game". Will add more information about what the game and project is shortly.

4:27 PM
@Phrancis Did you work to changes all the path ?

> added programmers room for comments involving programmers

@Marc-Andre You mean the HTML files with all the Thymeleaf errors?

@Phrancis yeah and the path thingy

Monking!

I did change the path on all the files. I'm tempted to make copies of the index.html code and just add the content back in, instead of scrubbing each individual file for unclosed tags... thoughts?

4:35 PM
@Phrancis Seems a reasonable idea, in an ideal world we would have only a main template and different content files.

I agree. Let's put that on the to-do list after all pages are working correctly and the website is up and functional!

Good !

5:06 PM
> Update README.md

Added general information about the project and the game directed at new visitors.

@all Can you check this new readme and tell me if you like it, or would like to see changes?

Monking!

5:27 PM
> Changes committed and awaiting peer review to see if any other changes are desired.

@Phrancis I would link the developer guidelines in the How can I get involved?section
@Phrancis And remove the https from the link

@Phrancis SO rep does not count for being able to post here. It needs to be rep from another site

Ok
Anything else stand out?

you can also help by playing the game and [reporting any bug](https://www.Cardshifter.com/report-bug.html) you find or [requesting new features](https://www.Cardshifter.com/request-feature.html) you'd like to see added to the game. See the instructions below.
1. there are no "instructions below". 2. the links... should we really point them there? isn't it better to use github for that?

I would put the master and develop build passed (or not) at the top of the readme since, it's a good indicator if a repo is vigilante about build that pass

5:34 PM
I also think something should be written about the project structure, so that interested developers could more easily figure out where to start looking at the code

@Marc-Andre Should https be removed from all links?

Well from all non https link yes. I was mentionning the cardshifter website one

Gotcha
@SimonAndréForsberg Do you have an overview somewhere of this structure?

@Phrancis not really, unfortunately

Diagram or anything like that? Personally though I think this would probably be better to have in the Wiki and point to it from README.md?

5:48 PM
> using maps, trying to fix the GameScreen
> fixed table to full screen in GameScreen
> improved card views

@SimonAndréForsberg Working hard today !

@Phrancis I do have some notes around, but they're analog. I think some description of the project structure is needed in the readme. I will send you a little list or something
@Marc-Andre doesn't feel like it

> Update README.md

Improved wording and moved some links around. Removed "Useful Links" section as they are now integrated into the text.

My biggest accomplishment today is probably this:

Q: New SE Chat Bot feature for identifying when Programmers is mentioned on StackOverflow

maple_shaftThere are some very creative SE users and contributors to Code Review that have used the Stack API to build an open source SE Chat bot that is currently being used for many things. https://github.com/Zomis/GithubHookSEChatService The top contributors of this project have graciously offered to i...

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #703 for commit 200a6ac6 on branch gdx passed

@SimonAndréForsberg Very cool!

@SimonAndréForsberg Ok. I was under the impression that bazola had made some diagrams or something along those lines.

@Phrancis here's a little description:
Submodules:

cardshifter-api - Classes for data being sent between client and server
cardshifter-console - Console client (deprecated / discontinued)
cardshifter-core - Contains our own TCG mod implementation, as well as various features for inclusion in the server and the JavaFX client
cardshifter-fx - JavaFX Client
cardshifter-modapi - Contains the core Entity-Component-System code and several components and systems for some common TCG features
cardshifter-server - Multiplayer Server for the game

6:08 PM
OK that should do for now. Should that go both in README.md and the Wiki, you think?

cardshifter-api - Classes for code being sent between client and server --> for code being sent ? You mean code being shared by the client and server, or you really send code ?

cardshifter-api - Classes for data being sent between client and server
@Phrancis I think first of all the .md, as a sort of project overvieww
thanks for the correction, @Marc-Andre

No problem

@SimonAndréForsberg Cool.

> Update README.md

Added sub-modules, moved "Playing the game" up a bit for more natural flow.

> Tentatively final commit for 0.4 awaiting peer approval.
@Phrancis Det duger!

6:28 PM
@Duga Tack så mycket !
@SimonAndréForsberg Can you merge it to somewhere more practical (master/develop?) so I can delete this branch?
(TFL)

7:04 PM
> Done, just need merged into the relevant branch(es).
> The landing page currently only says "Welcome to the Cardshifter wiki!". I think it would be advantageous to at least have a brief guidance on what each section is for. Also wouldn't hurt to make a custom footer, and side bar perhaps with links to external sources like Waffle and such.
> Update README.md

> I don't believe you can add a side bar to the wiki. All wiki pages are simple .md files, meaning that they only support markdown.
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Zomis deleted branch repo-documentation

7:20 PM
I'll look into it, not sure how it works but there is a box for adding a custom side bar

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #706 for commit 6d8db959 on branch gdx passed
> Agreed. VANILLA is too easy, you just need to have a creature with a lot of health and the problem is solved.

@SimonAndréForsberg ^^ Sidebar and footer

> Added side bar with external links (same as in the chat room) and footer with a Contact Us link (that will redirect to that section on the website)

@Phrancis I am impressed! I am glad to be proven wrong

7:49 PM
@SimonAndréForsberg is Develop Another Client out-of-date at the moment?

@Phrancis a bit, but not entirely
the part about VANILLA surely is

Ok

> added top-right label to represent cost on a card
> renamed CardViewww to CardVieww big

my keyboard just made it into a git commit ^^

LOL

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #707 for commit 3e2d5754 on branch gdx passed

still a long way to go in libgdx, but this is howw it looks noww

My eyes are bleeding! ;_;

The bright red UI sure isn't very pleasant to stare at

@SimonAndréForsberg Thoughts?

@Phrancis no shit ;)
4
@Phrancis like it

Keep finding little typos :\

@Phrancis Same thought!

> There are also other issues because of the very strict HTML5 syntax imposed by Thymeleaf. Since index.html is working perfectly, the easiest way to make other pages work as good will be to copy index.html code into other files, and add in the specific file content in the body of the other files.

10:41 PM
> Quick question, will cardshifter.github.io website repo have to share the same license? If so, does the license only apply to the code?

I'm mostly concerned thinking of some future scenario where we will have media content (e.g., images for cards and such) present in both the game and the site, though they are not code.
> the website repository can absolutely have a different license, and media content can also be licensed differently.

@SimonAndréForsberg I'd be perfectly OK using same license for the site, just as long as the media is licensed separately. I could imagine sourcing a sub-website for mods that the modders would maintain and add their own stuff too
So I think it would make sense to do it all on the same license terms

@Phrancis makes sense. I personally think Creative Commons might be a bit too friendly of a license for the media, but that's up to you and the art creators :)

Yeah I'll talk it over with Jay. Maybe this one would work better

x1xxxx11
xxxxxxx1
xxx1x0xx
x0xxxxxx
xxxxxxxx
xxxxxxx0
xx0xxxxx
11xxxxxx

But when enforcing one of those solutions by setting the value above the right hand most zero provides no solutions.
