Here's the filter: That specific question is meta. It's asking what the merits of charging one way vs charging another way are. A comment suggests the following answer: it's probably arbitrary and factoid related (hint: airlines cannot control what luggages passengers buy). Asking what the right width for a shopping aisle is on topic IMO. Asking what the merits of measuring that shopping aisle in feet or meters are is not.

The factoids in themselves are probably interesting, btw. Especially if you look into the history of logistics and dive into the invention of the transport palettes. At the end of the day, though, the answer I offered in the comments seems likely to me: one is every bit as arbitrary as the other.

@blunders I definitely see your point. And I thought a lot about that question ever since it was first posted. But I guess here's the question: where do we draw the line? Maybe I was wrong, and the line should be further out than that, and I can live with that. But the area is very fuzzy, and we have to think long and hard about where that is. Business is a uniquely wide-reaching topic, so it's not always obvious whether the scope of our site should encompass a specific question or not.

I'm happy to reopen that question, but we need to establish through some reasonably quantifiable means (as much as anything of this sort can be quantified) where we draw that line.
