12:27 PM
Doggy hike this morning yielded an unexpected ingredient:

2 hours later…
2:16 PM
Hahahaha!
Sorry I haven't been around much this year, but hell year is wrapping up around here so I'll be back soon.
But never looking as hot the girls in that video! :)
I'm one week past my second Moderna vaccine, so I think perhaps a cover of "I Will Survive" is in order.

@Jolenealaska yay!
So you should be safe in a week? Or whatever the rule for the Moderna vaccine is?

I have a couple of nice surprises for my father on Father's Day.

Edible ones or otherwise?

@Stephie Yep. Memorial day, actually. Which is the start of tourist season here.

@Jolenealaska How fitting!

2:30 PM
@Stephie Others. First that I am fully vaccinated. Second that I intend to enroll at the University of Colorado Boulder Law School (his alma mater where he graduated first in his class) in the fall of 22.

Whoa! You go girl!

I'm wrapping up my bachelor's in nutrition of all things, at Purdue starting in June. I'll be fully enrolled by father's day which is June 20th.

Does that mean you will be moving?

Nope
I'm doing the Purdue work online.

@Jolenealaska Just don’t come back and start answering all the off-topic nutrition questions here ;-)

2:32 PM
I will probably do one semester a year in Colorado and one semester here.

Cool! Can you keep your place for that time?

Considering what's happening right now with the PFD I won't give up my Alaska residency for nothing.
@Stephie Yep, that is the plan.
One of my capstone projects is to make a video of my avocado q&a. The degree is called nutrition, but it really should just be called food science.
There are only two classes that are specifically nutrition. Everything else is just straight-up science.
And food safety. I have quite the portfolio on that one already :)

That you do!
Need to go - we need a new fence and I have to finish the measurements for the builder.

I don't think I'm going to have any problem with the grade point average needed for Dad's Law School. The LSAT is a hurdle I think I can clear, but I've never taken it. I'm taking it in August.

The current fence is just symbolic for a certain canine.

2:42 PM
have fun!

And before he really jumps over it...
That dog? The fun is limited, unfortunately.

Oh. A dog is threatening to jump in?

@Stephie I don't think @Jolenealaska is up to speed on recent events

I most certainly am not

@Stephie has a GSD pup
Well, he's a bigger pup

2:46 PM
She got the pup just as I was fading away to deal with the hell of Anchorage during a pandemic.

Ash passed on a couple of months ago. My dad's probably going to end up getting another dog but mom's kinda "we're too old"

I'm so sorry

@Jolenealaska he had a good life, and passed away after a dog park visit, on my dad's lap.

That's almost as good a way to go as Olenna Tyrell's.
(that's a Game of Thrones reference by the way)

3:07 PM
@Jolenealaska he who can’t wait until the “Such!”

Well, Ripley's Results is in full swing again. If you need a trainer it's $100/hr plus travel at full scale :)
I can travel in a week!

LOL!
But seriously, we have a trainer/therapist. That dog makes a Malinois seem zen.

Currently, I've got a big goofy pitbull here for board and train. Bacon is not so sure about this new routine.
Maybe I shouldn't have named her after food.

Too late, I guess?
We are still working with Chester and Xabi.
The former was too shy to lay down the law with the puppy, now he has figured out that the intruder is not just a guest. And Xabi is trained very strictly that he may not, under no circumstances, chase the cat. He’s got to lie down and leave him alone.

Not chasing cats is a big part of what I'm doing with this Pitbull too. So Bacon is a reluctant assistant.

3:21 PM
Currently we are approaching the stage where the cat moves about freely, the dog has an idea that the cat is off-limits and that doing nothing is paying big time. The other day he was a very good boy and that meant a big treat.

He's not allowed to chase her or in any way annoy her. If she wants to play or otherwise be friendly, she will go to him.
Same here :-)

We are seeing the occasional sniffing, initiated by both and today there were literally nose to nose. Cat had a wet spot on the back earlier this morning when he tolerated being sniffed over and still told clearly when he had enough. That’s something where we grab Xabi lest he tries to retaliate or play catch...

How old is your cat?

Interestingly Xabi can do quite a few commands, but walking calmly on a leash is tough and bypassing other people.... urgh.
@Jolenealaska Just turned seven.

Good. He's still made of rubber. Cats are amazing that way.

3:26 PM
lol
@Jolenealaska our old local stray used to deal with dogs getting too nosy with a sheathed paw to the nose :D

I will be content if we can watch movies as a family of six - on and in front of the couch.

That'll happen.

2 hours later…
5:34 PM
5 minutes ago:
She won't look at him, but she never stopped purring.
