10:02 PM
@Cerberus Nice :) never tried that.
I did try brocolli soup and that was very good.
What did you put in it?

@derobert How do I get that? Mixing gluten with something?
@Mien Yeah broccoli soup is also great. I used califlower, onions, garlic, chicken stock, mustard, cream, parmesan.
And some fresh basil on the plate.

hmmm interesting combination.
fry onions and garlic first?

No. I was too lazy.
Not sure how much difference that makes for a soup.
It's turned out great anyway.

I don't know either :p
I sometimes let them fry while I clean the other veggies.
Isn't it quite thin?

What do you put in broccoli soup? I usually use broccoli, stock, pepper, cream. And possibly a teaspoon of Thai curry if I have it.
@Mien Not really: the cauliflower itself binds the soup.
I'd call it a fairly thick soup. You can use less water to make it thicker.
Is thick the word for that anyway?

10:11 PM
sure it is
in Dutch at least
Hmm, I want to upload something but snag.gy is slow
See the right one
If I had to crop, it would've taken me another 5 minutes.

@Cerberus it makes a lot of difference in taste
you should always sweat them

@Mien Oh, that looks delicious.

I really can recommend the salmon :)
I wanted to add some cream as well, but it was already thick enough.

I highly recommend Zizorz for posting screenshots of (parts of) your screen in chat or elsewhere.

But if you add salmo, beware of the salt level.

10:14 PM
@Mien *recommend

I know Imgur, I don't know Zizorz.
@Cerberus Normally, snag.gy works great for that.
But now it's slow.

@rumtscho It makes some difference, but not that much when you add lots of other ingredients. I might try frying and not frying side by side (in soup) and compare the result.

Blog post?

@Mien I press win-Q. Then I shift-drag a rectangle around the area that I want to have a screenshot of. Then I wait for the file to upload (a few seconds), then the link to the Imgur image is copied to my clipboard. That's what Zizorz does.
See how fast it is?

I see :)
Can you do anything else except selecting the area?

10:18 PM
No.
That's why it is blindingly fast.

heh :p
I think you copied it before you pasted it!

But I can just open the Imgur link in another tab, then use ImgOps (a bookmarklet, i.e. a button in my browser) to load the image in an on-line editor to add and change stuff.
@Mien How is that possible?
It has to be in chat before I can take a screenshot of it.

You've got to be a superhero.
It's the only explanation.

Notice the rounded corner.

Yes.

10:21 PM
@Mien And you can be one too, with Zizorz!
Let me know if you want to try Zizorz.
(It's freeware, but I can instruct you.)

No, it's fine :) I hardly need to take a screenshot of something
I might ask you for the name one day.

OK.
I paste images in chat and elsewhere all the time, somehow.
Do you like maps, by the way?

what kind of maps are you talking about?

halkidiki?
Looks like Greece to me :)

10:29 PM
Ding!

Ah no, I'm mistaken.

Ah, it is Greece, but a different part.

It was the Peloponnese.

This is a guessing game?

10:30 PM
Yes.
Only if you like to play.

Okay.
Sure.
Can I use the google?

No.

Okay.

Only your mind!

Well, it's partly green.
So no extreme heat or cold.

10:31 PM
Do you see a city?

It doesn't look like an eastern asian or american part.
Is it middle-eastern?
I see a white part. Is that a city?

Yes!

It's not saoedi arabia

Here it is again, with a scale.

that's more squary
Oh.
I don't know :p
Quite a few islands.

10:34 PM
This is the city.

Yes, that's what I thought

6 mins ago, by Cerberus
user image
Now look at this again.

Oh
Dirty :D

The scale is a bit different.
Dirty?

Ah, it's not the upper right part of that picture?
I see similarities

10:36 PM

That's Greece again

Do you see both areas?

Yes

And the white city?

Athens.

10:36 PM
Ding!
And do you know what the Athenian peninsula is called?

Do you have qwerty keyboards in the netherlands? :o
Euh.

Hehe.

Evia?

I'm just a sloppy typer.
Attica.

Ah
the old name of Athens
I knew that :)

10:38 PM
No, it is the name of the region.

I think the Romans referred to Athens as Attica, no?

The city was Athênai.
Nope, they called it Athenae.

Hmm, yes.

But the adjective used to refer to Athens is atticus, attic in English.

And the goddess Athena?
@Cerberus Top of the world? :p

10:39 PM
@Mien Athênê or Athêna.

With what do your ^ correspond?

@Mien Heh, yeah I don't actually know why it is called that.
@Mien ê = η

I'm not sure if you're speaking Latin or Greek now.
Ah, Greek.

ô = ω

You got me confused by attic-us.

10:40 PM
Heh.

makes sense :)

@Mien Yes, that was Latin.
> **attic:**
"top story under the roof of a house," 1855, shortened from attic storey (1724). The term Attic order in classical architecture meant a small, square decorative column of the type often used in a low story above a building's main facade, a feature associated with the region around Athens (see Attic). The word then was applied to "a low decorative facade above the main story of a building" (1690s in English), and it came to mean the space enclosed by such a structure. The modern use is via French. attique. "An attic is upright, a garret is in a sloping roof" [Weekley].

Nice :)
I got smarter today.

Mien is a silly goose.

Good to know

10:43 PM
Hmm wait...

Too late.
It's starred into our annales.

Oh, yes alas.
Nothing I can do now.

Oh, it's annals in English.

But kudos to your Latin!

Oi!
Good thing I saw your edit!

10:44 PM
Hey! You stole my star!

Heh, thanks, It's been a while though.

Yay!

Tssk
but don't tell anyone.

Never.

So, you did Latin in high school as well?

10:45 PM
Yes.

Greek-Latin?

You only Latin?

Yep

Are the two commonly linked in Belgium?

Latin-Modern Languages
But I did the 10-hour obligatory course in the first year, and in my second year I chose Greek-Latin. I was bored of it, so I changed to regular Latin by the third year.
@Cerberus Yes and no.
They are linked in the sense that both are old, dead languages.
There are hardly schools where you can learn Greek without the Latin.

10:47 PM
But no link in the curriculum?
Ah.

But I think you can learn Latin on all schools without Greek.
And where you live?

Here, if you are on a school called a gymnasium, you get Greek and Latin, but you can drop one language after 3rd grade.

And you can choose which one of the two?

There are a very few schools that have only Latin, and there it is not compulsory, I think.
@Mien Yes.

Do you have G & L starting from the first year?

10:48 PM
So what percentage of people learn Latin in school, you reckon?

(and what age is the first year? :p )

@Mien Latin from first year, Greek second.
Ehm I don't know when the first year starts, but it's probably the same as for you.
The 6th year ends when you're 18.

@Cerberus I don't really know. In my first year, there were 3 Latin classes, and 6 "Modern" classes. Those two form the ASO (algemeen secundair onderwijs)
Ah yes, it is :)

So you start first grade at age 12, I think.
@Mien Hmm so modern languages are packed into one subject?

It's not really about the languages.

10:50 PM
We have separate classes for English, German, French, Dutch, Greek, and Latin.

We just have Latijnse klassen and Moderne klassen.

@Mien Huh?

Twee richtingen

Ahh OK.

in ASO

10:51 PM
I get it.
And what % of people does ASO?
(Which means asocial in Holland, btw. Wat ben jij aso!)
(Asociaal is used to mean rude here.)

Later on, the Latins can choose to have Greek as well. Or just Latin and then more math, more science or more modern languages. The modern 'group' can choose for econonmy, math, science or languages
We know aso as well. But you pronounce ASO letter by letter.
There isn't really the link :)
@Cerberus Most people.

Ahh I see.
@Mien Really? Oh!

We have ASO, TSO, BSO and KSO.
ASO > TSO > BSO in grades of intellect, if I may be so rude.

It is called VWO here, and only about 20 % do VWO.

KSO is kunst
brb, cat wants out

10:53 PM
You have special secondary schools for art?
By the way, I forgot: I also added some ginger to my soup.
Freshly grated.

Ah.
@Cerberus Yes, but not a lot of people go there.
The *SO system is the regular one.
We also have Steiner/Freinet schools.
Are you familiar with that concept?

Rudolf Steiner? We call those Vrije Scholen.
I guess that is what Freinet means?

Yes, Rudolf.

Why net?

not net, Freinet, I think it's a name, like Steiner.
I don't have any experience with them, I'm not sure.

10:57 PM
It is rather a coincidence that we should call them Vrije School and you Frei...

We don't really speak German ;)

Haha.
So it is a name.

Btw, someone on my meta post suggested something with refresh. Does he mean F5?

I think so.
Or control-F5.

I'll test it.
But bedtime first
Good night!

11:03 PM
Goedenacht!

Slaapwel :)

Let's hope you're the Fiery Fox will smile on you tomorrow.

I hope so too!

Bye!
