> Ah, I hadn't looked carefully at the various styles. fancy dashed includes the two shorten keys. When drawing the full path then these get applied to the start and end of just the full path, when drawing the components individually then they get applied to each component.
> In reality, they should be applied when the path is constructed but not when it is rendered. Worth drawing the pparrowyy path when it is first defined with a thick line width so both the original and modified path can be seen together.
@AndrewStacey I'm only reposting your comment here because I've already asked the moderators to move one discussion on an answer of mine and I don't want to try their patience. So is there a way of applying them when the path is constructed? Or are you saying the result ^^ is correct? What I don't understand is why the gap looks shifted in this case. I can understand the gap being smaller. Or is it just a visual effect of the angle of the path going over?
[I don't mind if you comment on my post - I can't be blamed for what you do ;).]

Just testing if I can now comment
Oh, that worked!
Right, this is where I need to try out some code variations. I have theories as to what is going on and it's to do with the interactions between the shortening stuff, but I need to try it out go be sure.
