Well, this is frustrating.
For the second time since SP1, I've tried and failed to download and install Windows Updates.
Download hung around 61% and severe system instability ensued.
Seems the vulnerability I'm looking for is not in Secunia.
And... not in exploit-db.
03:02
The CVE is from 2000, so I'm thinking it might just be too old?

That would be the VERY early days of cve, before the notion propagated everywhere.
Who who knows what it might actually be called
05:03
I'd found a link to exploit code on SecurityFocus, but the link was dead.
A lot of sites don't seem to have it in their DBs at all though - at least not by CVE number.

@nealmcb - you think the phone battery question has merit here? Happy to hear more views and re-open if folks think it is worthwhile
08:24
@nealmcb - tell you what...erring on the side of openness. Reopened to see what input we get.

Hey @Fred
11:12
@ScottPack old but interesting presentation (by my current boss) on why IT for universities is different: spot.colorado.edu/~kjk/WhyDifferent/ppframe.htm
@RoryAlsop Thanks, Rory!
I'm at our annual IDtrust conference: middleware.internet2.edu/idtrust/2011
... in DC (well, Gaithersburg MD at NIST)

@nealmcb Today is the kickoff?
New DoS twist: Spade Hacker - cbc.ca/news/world/story/2011/04/06/…
@ScottPack Started yesterday. NIST is also hosting a Computing Forum & Workshop III today - Vint Cerf tomorrow.
The old man himself.

hey guys!

@RoryAlsop!
@ScottPack!
What's going down?
y'know - code review, being stuck in here out of all that gorgeous sunshine...meh
How unfortunate for you.
:-) must be nearly time for afternoon tea
13:05
I just started with my morning coffee. Yummo.
13:30
Coffee intake commenced - now time to get creative:

Q: What is our elevator pitch?

Rory AlsopRealised we hadn't written an elevator pitch for Security SE (as per the 7 essential Meta questions) From that page, the elevator pitch is a brief sentence that describes what your site is about. Every word counts! Once decided, it can be sliced and diced to form: * the tagline *...

Yo.
Welcome back from the land of the bureaucrats.
@ScottPack Eh?
Oh... you've been getting my tweets?
You also brought it up a few days ago :)
Ah, true.
And I was pleasantly surprised to find (perhaps I'd just forgotten) that they could print the registration and decal right on the spot.

One bonus to my location is that the BMV is in the same building
Downside is that I'm about .75mi walk to any good eating.
@ScottPack At least you're in relative walking distance to good eating.
At work, I'm at least a 15-minute drive away from most decent lunching places.
Benefit of a small town.
15-20 minutes will take me from one side to the other through the city center
Previous jobs I had were in downtown or college areas. Kinda miss the easy access to and multitude of dining options.

It’s really inspiring to see Stack Overflow meetup events being held in almost 100 cities around the world. Here’s where the meetup groups are:

That made me think again about Stack Exchange in other languages. Now, Stack Exchange isn’t just software. Localizing it isn’t just a matter of translating the strings. It’s a community, so when we have a Stack Exchange site conducting Q&A in, say, Japanese, we’ll need moderators and community coordinators to liaise between that community and the company who speak Japanese. …

Y'know what would be really nice to see in Google?
Calendar Math. Like how you can enter in a calculation and Google will automatically do the math for you, or how you can have Google do unit conversions...
I'd like to be able to just put "April 4, 2011 + 60 days" into Google and have the answer.
19:34
No kidding
