Also. Hi @TobyS :)

12 hours later…
11:40
@packs 4.30 leave house. 6.25 plane departs (although today it was delayed until 6.40). 7.50 plane lands (fog at Gatwick). 8.30 train scheduled to depart. 9.15 train actually departs Gatwick, but stops at Redhill. New train eventually got me to Reading at 10.45ish.
Meh - coffeeeeeeeee
I stayed in Redhill once.
Either way, you survived the trip. WTG, @RoryAlsop!
And now, time to get to the office.
12:19
Hm. It's 8:20 and no one else has made it in yet. Did I miss a memo?
12:34
Memo. To: packs Subject: good morning to sleep in
Of course I'm up at 6:34, so hardly a good example....
Indeed.
My coworkers hate the fact that I don't get out of bed until around 6:50.
I figure, if you want a short commute, move to where you work. :)

A: Anybody have additional information on the EMC RSA SecurID compromise?

nealmcbSome good points are made at the Schneier on Security blog: RSA Security, Inc Hacked. The worry is that source code to the company's SecurID two-factor authentication product was stolen, which would possibly allow hackers to reverse-engineer or otherwise break the system. It's hard to make an...

@packs Works for me. @TobyS had a ten minute commute on foot this morning...slightly jealous :-)
13:40
@RoryAlsop Jeez, must live in the same building, or at least block.
If I were in the other IT building, I would probably walk to work. Right now I'm 1.7 miles away, which is just past my comfort zone for a pedo-commute.
14:01
a bit of strategic serviced apartment selection = option to stay in bed till 8am :P
The only reason I get up that early is because of the whole toddler/wife/me morning schedule. When it was just 2 of us, I didn't normally get up until about 7:15
ah yes. not too terrible a start time given situation. I have that complication to look forward to still, it's just me and the mrs so far
14:26
Young pup :)
@packs Hahahahaha
For a while you'll lose your ability to effectively parallelize your routine.
Just ask the old man over there, he's done this like half a dozen times or so.
14:41
It gets easier, but a 2nd makes it more difficult again for a while. 3 would have been really difficult, were it not for the fact that my eldest is now effectively a task delegatee. Ahh - load sharing!
15:07
That's the trick with distributed work loads. You don't get a full 50% bump when moving from 2 execution units to 3, but you do get enough of a workload decrease across the board to make it worth while.
@packs 'execution units' - my private ninja assassins:-)
15:30
I was originally going to use the word "core" but thought it would be a little too strange given the context.
