Does IT security have it's own domain?
like serverfault.com has

@David No.
Most newer SE sites don't.

@Iszi ah, didnt know Sec.SE was "new"

@David New being fairly relative.

hence the quotes lol

Policy's probably been in place for a year or so.

Think less "Newer SE" and more "If it's not Stack Overflow / Server Fault / Super User, it's unlikely to have its own domain"
There's far more sites without a domain than with, after all

gotcha

Those 3 (and Ask Ubuntu, which is due to partnership with Canonical) are the only ones who truly have their own domain because they predate the entire system of site creation which made all of the other sites, basically.

@GraceNote There's a fair number of others, I believe - but you're not counting them 'cause they're effectively just re-directs?

@Iszi Yeah, mostly. There's Seasoned Advice, Cross Validated, Ask Different, Mi Yodeya, and Arqade who have their own custom titles and an accompanying special address to reach them. So in practice they're "having their own domain", but sometimes people note the difference.

@GraceNote Hrm. I don't recognize Cross Validated?

8:19 PM
It's also easier to explain the true domain ones because those have a pretty solid reason behind them (they were the original sites + Canonical)
@Iszi stats.stackexchange.com

@GraceNote Wait a sec... did they just change how SE oneboxing works, or have I just never put one on its own line before?
Oh!

You're using the bracketed link syntax

@GraceNote Would be nice if that could be set up to work the same way as the URL, whenever it's placed on its own line.

I don't recall how many months that onebox has been there (it's quite many), but since it requires the full URL, it isn't always exercised or widely known.
@Iszi It's a thought, though I won't promise anything resembling priority on it.

@GraceNote Nobody ever does. :-(

8:22 PM
mmm I think sec.SE is following up on serverfault
low quality q's :<

@LucasKauffman While not functionally so, it could probably be said that Sec.SE is spun-off from SOFU - so it shouldn't be surprising that eventually we would devolve in the same manner.

8:43 PM
Here you go @RoryAlsop
I wonder if one-box for thinkgeek makes sense

@ScottPack About as much sense (maybe more, given the target audience) as the one that already exists for Amazon.
So, feel free to shoot me if this is an "Excel is not a database" question...

Q: Is there a way to have "default" or "placeholder" values in Excel?

IsziI've got a spreadsheet with cells that I want to be user-editable, but that I also want to have "default" or "placeholder" values in, whenever there is no user-entered data. There's a couple good use cases for this: Prevent formula errors, while providing reasonable assumptions when a user has...
