@forest my guess would be some smartass was adding it in and something got huffy
@J-- That was half the amusement, the other half was the manner it was naughty in
@J-- If I can get something in a fairly non annoying way at a price I am ok with, I don't pirate
I don't feel a moral obligation to fund some media exec's next mega yacht

@forest snort that periodically pollutes my inbox
heh
> Strings which crashed iMessage in various versions of iOS
I remember those. When that came out, I wrote a spambot just to mess with iOS users. :D
Burnt a dozen shells to do it, but it was worth it.
lol what
06:27
Was that a mod message or something?
@forest same as the old MIRC/DCC exploit :D
@forest nope
that's a question
Oh, what's that logo? I don't recognize it.
oh the censorted one?
Yeah the censored one with the zalgo.
Oh its a private team
06:28
oh
One you're in actually
the zalgo is from the post below it coming up
Oh, I thought that's the zalgo one.
That actually makes more sense.
naw
you don't have 10k on SU right?
that post is a complete and utter mess
I have like... a little over 1000 I think.

I'm surprised that isn't a reliable DoS method for browsers.
Unless I misremember, even when it was first discovered, it didn't cause real problems.
Its... potentially super annoying
@JourneymanGeek What is "Moderator Council"?
@forest ah, there's mentions of it around
basically trying to devolve some CM level functions to a bunch of elected mods
kinda didn't quite pan out as desired
What kind of functions?
Like account merging and network-wide suspensions? (Idk what powers CMs have)
lol

Q: Introducing the Moderator Council - and its first, pro-tempore, representatives

CatijaWhen I was a moderator, I often referred to moderation on Stack Exchange as being a janitor: cleaning up spam, deleting non-answers, removing rudeness, and eradicating a seemingly-endless stream of comments were the primary day-in-the-life tasks for me. While this term may cover what Jeff expecte...

ah
One of the 'nice' things about SE is its a lot easier to explain when stuff's out in the open :D

Say, for an API to communicate with a kernel rootkit from a userspace process, what would be the absolute minimum capabilities that one could reasonably assume the process has? I'm thinking just the ability to write to all general-purpose registers and cause a context switch, since that would be possible even in the tightest seccomp sandbox and with the most restrictive resource limits.
In particular, the userspace process may not be running arbitrary code. For example, JavaScript in a browser could be reasonably assumed to be able to write arbitrary data to some registers and cause a context switch (not directly of course). I considered timing as a covert control channel, but the bandwidth and reliability is too low.
