How valuable/dangerous are weak cryptographic algorithms generally? I get that there's the potential of cracking the crypto and decrypting data but I generally can't find PoCs for things like "weak algo for SSH/HTTPS".
From what I've been told, such crypto issues are largely theoretical.

@JohnZhau "Largely Theoretical" is my understanding, although I would never risk it.

@JohnZhau For cryptographers, something weak now means that it risks to be easily broken in 20 years. Since some data encrypted today might still be confidential in 20 years, weak algorithms are usually banned as soon as they are found. Even when they cannot be broken today and might not be practically broken in 20 years.
