Does anyone find it disturbing that zoom is still in such wide use despite it's reputation on security? One day I hear governments talk of foreign influence on data infrastructure, the next I see them using zoom for government meetings...
@MechMK1 didn't expect to see touhou here heh, for .net not sure if it's what you're looking for but I used to use dnSpy
@AlphaD I'm all about that Tōhō business (yes, I'm also a pretentious arse who writes ō instead of ou)
@AlphaD People just don't give a fuck about security. All they care about are "cute" features
That's how shit like Incredimail and Bonzi Buddy spread like wildfire
But Zoom is an interesting case study. We security folks see security as paramount, but UX and marketing people see marketability as paramount. And sadly, UX and Security are often contradictory. A PC without any password prompt would be "easier" to use. Just ignoring certificate errors is "easier" for the end user.
And in the case of Zoom, they did a lot of shady shit (e.g. installing a local web server) to improve UX at the cost of security
At this point, Zoom has such a high usage share that there's no getting away from it
If an organization wants to have a meeting online when they haven't before, it's no longer a question of using Skype or Hangouts or Meet or WebEx. They're all using Zoom now.
So I guess we just get to wait and hope Zoom fixes everything.
