@A.Hersean Facts. Luckily I am currently staying on an island which doesn't have a single confirmed case of Corona, so I am relatively safe.

I will be remaining on this island for the foreseeable future, that's for sure.

@A.Hersean on a related note, apparently it has been shown that loneliness kills. Covid isolation boredom is one thing, but elderly people being lonely is a thing. Call your parents and grandmas people!

@J.J that sounds lovely (in principle)
@Luc our kids won't even notice the difference. All their comms is by tiktok, Snapchat etc. They are a bit upset the gyms have closed, but we have weights, kick bags etc at home, and there is a small forest beyond the end of the street so running, press ups, etc are all possible
My parents understand Skype so that helps them

Q: Reporting poor privacy practices in a mobile app

AlexI found a vulnerability in a paid Smartphone app. It is supposed to contain a lot of private details. There is a logging option for support that you can switch off and on, to extract the part that causes you problems. The app's support can ask you to send them the log for review. The problem is...

Schroeder: [Relevant, helpful, and necessary clarifying questions]
OP: None of your questions is useful.
Schroeder: "I want to report this to the government" "Sure, what government?" "That's not a useful question" ... I beg to differ ...
OP: Please revoke @schroeder 's admin rights.
That escalated quickly...

@ConorMancone lol
Hey all, can we take a look at this as something to make canonical ASAP? There will be many others with similar questions: security.stackexchange.com/questions/227480/…

Why do people use sites like whatismyip.com? Every major search engine tells you already if you search for "ip address"
@FireQuacker because that's more difficult to link to clearly (one would have to interpret the URL parameters to understand what was being searched)
@ConorMancone what tickled me is that I know that Madagascar's Privacy Commission isn't set up yet, so you can inform them, but they won't do anything about it :) Hence, no informing of any parties as per the OP's request.
@schroeder This bugs me. I am 90% sure I stumbled across an old but very similar question a few weeks ago, but I can't find it. All I remember is that the top answer took a very different turn than I expected (saying something like, yes your company can indeed spy on you and your home network)

@FireQuacker find it and let me know in the comment area of my answer (I'm certain to see that more than pings here)

@schroeder Okay. I think I found the question I was talking about in chat: security.stackexchange.com/a/142805/129883 I was misunderstanding it because I reached it from this question that actually is about VPNs: security.stackexchange.com/q/197526/129883
(I'm responding here because it doesn't exactly belong as a comment. You should receive a notification either way)
@FireQuacker yep - got it - reading, thanks
@FireQuacker ok, those are about the traffic, good to know about and have in the mix. The OP is asking about protecting the device from the client, which is a very real but separate problem.
