Evening folks.
Has anyone used the SIG questionnaire tool when evaluating smaller 3rd party vendors? What do you do when most questions do not apply due to vendor size?

@ConorMancone "Same as last"
Because I ask good questions and thus get good answers

I'm telling you @MechMK1 - Jonathan Pie is the best channel on the whole of YouTube.
Anonymous
The guy is fuckin' hilarious & genius if you ask me. To come up with such a character and do it so well is something I have never seen before, and to keep it going in the form of 3-4 minute videos is really clever.
@J.J No the best channel on YouTube is the one where a guy plays U.N. Owen was her? with his mouth while simultaneously playing piano and xylophone
Anonymous
lol, I'll have to watch this.
This one is insane
> When you're the only one who did the project but you still have to write everyone else's name

Oh yay, I am 9 flags away from my third gold badge.

What an exciting time...
In 4 days I have my fanatic badge
Anonymous
That's a stupid badge, imo.

I've got it, stupid badge.
It is
It's a bit like "Kill one enemy" in CS:GO
No way not to get it :D

@J.J People tend to say that when they don't want others to anwser. Can you explain what's make it so broad ? If I was ask "How to write a software" I would no say it's broad. Juts to help, I'd say : identify the feature - identify and organize its data in a DBMS - write a GUI representing the features to interact with a backend - write a back end to interact with the GUI and the DBMS. That's a broad (HELPING) answer to a broad question. — botanga 34 secs ago

Oh my God.

This question is SO broad he's effectively asking - "how to make an exploit?". I tell him it's too broad and he responds with that.
Anonymous
What is wrong with people on this site?
09:35
But seriously though, wtf??!?
How?
Anonymous
I actually don't know. I guess I literally just pressed enter 0.1 seconds before it got closed.

lmfao.

Yeah, there you are - Schroeder said how :d
This is some gosh-darn bullshit

Nice comment about a more generic answer.

Might yoink it, Mech.

"Yes!!!! You are getting me. How do they Analyze the program ? For instace there is a CVE saying there is a RCE, how do the start ? OllyDbg to fing culprit, and so on.. or what ? – botanga 24 secs ago" this guy is so braindead it's actually hurting me to read his comments.
Anonymous
As in... Physically hurting.
> How do they analyze the program?
By looking at it and applying their knowledge.

lol

Why do I feel like this guy is not even able to get a metasploit module to work let alone use a debugger?

Huh, I just realised I am nearly at 1500 rep, lucky me. Perhaps I should get to 2000 just so I can edit.
I made a little diagram that shows my thought process while hacking

A: How to physically destroy an SSD at home?

MechMK1 Hit it with a hammer Repeat Step 1 For extra security, set the remains on fire Put the ash into the toilet If you don't have any intentions of ever re-using that medium, just destroy it completely. It's not hard to properly destroy electronics if you hit hard enough.

A: How do programmers write the initial exploits from the vulnerability details in a CVE?

J.JYou wanted a broad answer: Read about the bug Attempt to understand the bug Use a fuzzer to find the crash Attempt to exploit crash Profit. Fuzzing is only one method. Please seek additional resources to learn about more methods.

How is this about to become in my top 10% of answers.

Q: Are bread improvers really needed?

pumpum_breadI am new to baking and I am in the process of creating and starting my bakery in my country. I got a few questions, my bakery is planning on making pita bread. I have a fully automatic machine that will create the bread. I plan to product fresh bread everyday and when needed. My main fears are...

Holy shit
> I am new to baking and I am in the process of creating and starting my bakery in my country.
I never did a thing before, and now I want to be a professional at it.
13:21
@JohnZhau a long, long, long time ago you were asking about erasing HDD vs SSD. Finally stumbled across the relevant answer:

Q: Can wiped SSD data be recovered?

cutrightjmI was reading another post on destroying IDE drives, and how you could remove data, wipe it, or just destroy the drive. The removed data would still be there in some state, although not easily reachable without software. Wiped data is just removed data, but it has been overwritten and is essentia...

@MechMK1 We get those all the time here - apparently that's just how people like to roll? There is a specific question here that that reminds me of (maybe I'll find it later)
Is brown sugar useful for browning? That is not my experience...
Perhaps it is in industrial settings?
I don't know
I don't know, we're already passed my experience level. Although I did spend years where I made cookies every week, but that hardly qualifies me as a baker...
It's funny. I recently watched a video by Paul Harrell, where he explained how to spot a fake expert
And he then did a sequel, how to spot a real expert
And one of the hallmarks of a real expert is that they aren't scared to say "I don't know"

Holy shit, I just found the first anti-vaxxer that I believe is not just trolling: our 8k rep user Overmind. They write on their blog: "Arstechnica use to be a good tech information site [until] they started to put up articles promoting vaccination. [...] Keep spreading your propaganda to your formatted meatbags. Wise people don’t buy it anyway."
Man, I wish I wouldn't know these things about people
I wonder when people will find the first dirt about me :D
Luc
Luc
13:32
I started wondering who this Overmind is due to other illogical statements
then found this and was like "O_O anti-vaxxers are real and not just mythical creatures that people talk and joke about"
Same with flat-earthers
I mean, I buy into some conspiracy theories too
Luc
Luc
yeah same with those, I hear lots of jokes about them but until now I was convinced that the only reason a lot of people think there exist flat-earthers, is because everyone keeps the joke alive
Some flat earthers are just typical crackpots. Like, lacking basic scientific rigor, and when being confronted with evidence, they claim it's not real evidence
Luc
Luc
@MechMK1 the thing is that it's fine to be skeptical, or to just not have an opinion on something. If you think some company is covering up that sugar is bad for you, despite research and convincing arguments that supports that claim, sure. But there is such a thing which I've heard described as "stupid skepticism" which is rejecting everything except stuff that is unconventional
like, if someone says the sky is blue, a "stupid skepticist" would say "but maybe there is just a big screen and beyond that screen it's green!"
or not believing scientists but believing random dudes on the internet instead
Yeah, I know what you mean
I'm the kind of skeptic like "Look, I know the official story. I doubt that it's 100% accurate because of this evidence, this evidence and this evidence. I believe that the people involved had reasons to lie because ..."
Luc
Luc
13:41
that sounds sensible in general
And I don't present my skepticism as "the one and only truth". I'm stating why I believe what I believe, not that my beliefs are guaranteed to be the truth
Remember when the "Epstein is a Pedophile" thing was just a stupid, anti-semitic conspiracy theory? I remember
Luc
Luc
I honestly have no clue at all who epstein is other than the dude who invented the Epstein Drive in The Expanse and that's what killed him
but I try to keep out of the loop on sensational topics that have no bearing on my life whatsoever
#fakemoonlanding
My favourite is that Stanley Kubrick was hired to direct the fake moon landing but he insisted on filming the fake on-location to make it convincing.
Luc
Luc
@MechMK1 hehehe :)
13:49
But we better stop talking of conspiracy theories, else I will reveal my power level and get banned again :D
OH MY GOD
I pressed Random on xkcd and I got the same comic again
Luc
Luc
what are the odds?
must be a conspiracy :D
@MechMK1 Your computer firmware has clearly been infected by a virus. I'd suggest factory resetting your phone, computer, and all your network hardware, but as we know the virus will somehow survive all of that.
the odds are 1/2264

To be honest @ConorMancone I am not sure why I am surprised by this. It illustrates how bad this site is, really.
15:36
@MechMK1 I literally didn't understand a thing you said here. I'm completely illiterate when it comes to music though, so don't waste your breath on me :)
@J.J Not in the slightest. It was a great answer, as it gave the OP exactly what they asked for
200,000 notes in 5 minutes :D
@MechMK1 They should use that as the "Insane" difficulty in guitar hero/dance dance revolution
Yes, I'm that much of a nerd
I think I just had a seizure...
I will quote Adam Neely:
> At some point, our ears cannot distinguish individual pulses. We stop hearing a "rhythm" and instead hear a "frequency", which we perceive as one continuous note
I think I should have added a content warning before posting this :D
So yeah, don't listen to Extratone :D
Or do, I don't care
:D
15:50
What's the minimum frequency threshold for human hearing again (roughly?)
20hz! I'm surprised it is so low
Or maybe I'm not? I forgot that these things are complicated...
2560bpm = 40hz. I would bet that turns into a "frequency" rather than distinct notes
16:16
I hate microsoft products...
I think the range is something like 20Hz-20KHz

Q: Should I be concerned that Arabic shows up when I do a google search for maps?

@MechMK1 This shouldn't make me happy, but it does. The accepted answer to your baking question says that brown sugar does not help with browning.

I just talked to a mod on a different site about changing my username and email because I wasn't comfortable having my real email hooked up to this website. They asked me for my date of birth and I gave them the wrong one, to which they replied "oh weird" and then they changed my username and email anyways??
*to their website
This seems totally ridiculous
