Is there a faster version of flagging?
No?
And most sites have enough mods to handle things in a reasonable amount of time
Ah, ok
Someone basically carded themselves
maaaan
Those are complicated.
Please give your mods a little time and space.
I have flagged + commented, that's the right way to handle it?
I'd actually go with just the flag
14:04
Ah, should I delete my comment?
Up to you
I'm not a local mod. Do what you feel is best? ;p
The card is still valid, so it's not an old card :O
wait. A literal card?
Yeah...
Like not an age card?
Oh oh
link?
Edit, flag.
they'll need to redact
14:06
Still short of 2K, so can't force an edit through
200 rep user too :(
dropped in somewhere with high rep users around
I flagged, then saw the expiry is not in the past, hence my attempt to raise it faster
Bad experience - Unanswered question
Worse experience - Unanswered question + fraud
quite
:(
I think there's a bit of a timezone issue?
I don't see any of the mods on chat
Hoping my edit doesn't get rejected as defacement :p
Yeah, the edit isn't moving either
NH.
NH.
14:25
@forest [citation needed]
14:50
This edit does not make the post even a little bit easier to read, easier to find, more accurate or more accessible. Changes are either completely superfluous or actively harm readability.
Oddly no allowance for remove sensitive information
15:15
Well, I approved it, but anyone could still access the revision history. Can you do something @RoryAlsop?

4 hours later…
19:15
ya, this should be deleted

2 hours later…
21:20
From what I've heard it would take 2 mods to remove it from history?
22:01
@BenoitEsnard I approved the redaction. Think it was already approved, but difficult to tell from mobile client
@RoryAlsop It was approved, but it's still in the edit history
22:22
@NH. For what, mapping NULL pages? That's just my memory, was asking if it was correct (I'm not a Windows guy).
Lmao someone carded themselves.
That's awesome.
> Queen Ethelburgas, Thorpe Green Lane, Thorpe Underwood YO26 9SS, United Kingdom
He sure doesn't care about revealing personal information huh.
I had to do a double take, but the format matches a debit/credit card
TODO mark any question of a script kiddie asking where to get teh cardz as a duplicate of this question
Bot time?
Well, I have good news and bad news
Actually, not sure there is good news
What's the news?
The details match a bank that would make sense for the location above, so it is not an access card that looks a bank card, it's a credit card too
22:36
Bad news: The credit card is valid. Good news: I bought you all plasma TVs!
:P
The tool even gives a phone number for the bank (not that google wouldn't be able to)
What I don't get is... how could someone be smart enough to know that they should remove sensitive information like their name, but so dumb that they get output from a card reader and post it asking "what does this output from my card reader mean?"
It's mind-blowing.
But this idiot really should fix this with the bank. Anyone could load up archive.is or something and mirror the page.
Wait can archive.is view post revision history pages?
Wondering if I should contact the bank
I'd check, but if it can then it will freeze it in place
Not before I buy myself a new TV!
Seriously though, yeah you should contact the bank.
On live chat now
22:46
cool
Well as long as the bank freezes this idiot's card, there won't be much worry about an expedited redaction. And less temptation to any former carders here.
I'm going to make a meta request to search for card numbers I think
Show a warning, not stop the post
A warning like: Looks like you are posting a card number, this is probably a REALLY BAD idea, are you sure?
2
Nah, on a site like this that'd have a lot of false positives. And people normally post personal information in odd formats (e.g. a base64 of a private key, or a link to a website registered under their full name when they're on the run from the Iranian government). It'd needlessly scare all the people who trip the false positive but wouldn't be able to catch more than the most trivial mistakes.
Are names even verified for magstripe transactions?
It's trivial to find his name regardless.
I mean we have his address and at least what he claims is his name.
True, and some sites cough amazon cough have been known to use card numbers for identity verification.
At one point you could call up, add a card number (no need for auth), and then call back and auth using that card number
23:00
There's a lot you can do with a card number other than just buy shit.
Such as?
Identity theft, social engineering, etc.
Yeah, at least it's not account # + sort code
Get on some airlines under another name.
They just use card #?
23:01
I still can't get over the delicious irony that card info was posted to a website about improving information security... Of all the places to post it!
Open data carding forum?
I am still in the queue
It is midnight though
I assume at least someone is on.
23:44 - Managed to escape the auto chat
23:46 - position 2 of 2
23:48 - 1/1
00:04 - 1/1 still
1/1 lol
Does PCI cover accidents? :p
PCI DWH (Didn't Want to Handle) :p
23:06
lol
00:10 1/3
However, I have managed to contact someone on facebook
From the bank?
Yeah
Facebook support is faster than live chat
ironic
23:21
Ahhh OK, what do you mean by magstripe data?...
@forest Where did you see a claimed name?
Ah, dw
My userscript was not being helpful
> Thanks for bringing this matter into our concern, I will report this card lost and will inform the customer about the cancellation
> Hello, my name is Rhys, I go to school in York and love coding, stack overflow is the best because U can ask, read and help with different coding related topics - Rhys Perry
Even if it's a fake name, it's not hard to find his real name.
Yeah
What happens to revision 1 when it is wiped?
Does 2 become 1?
As the card is now marked as lost, I can say that the bank was RBS
23:41
No it's just edited.
So the card number in revision 1 would be replaced with [redacted] or whatever a mod chooses, as if that's what was there originally.
At least this will serve as a good wake up call for this poor idiot.
