@MickLH - that probably should be asked as a question, rather than in here
And over on Crypto, rather than Sec
Morning here

Afternoon here @M'vy
hehe#
11:35
FRIDAY!

2 hours later…
13:16
Friday is good
14:14
But then so are all days that you get to without being dead :-)

1 hour later…

@RoryAlsop Crypto SE is down
@MickLH everything but chat seems down
SE is down
Yeah I just noticed when I went to check on another SE
The unicorn herders are aware and are currently working on a fix
15:19
SO is down! Critical world work productivity drop warning!
We see the issues and are disabling CloudFlare for all StackExchange properties now.
Everything is back up it seems
all y'all can stop panicing now
@M'vy I genuinely wonder how much direct monetary cost happens in short periods of SE being down
lol
I've met quite a few coders that would not be able to create working programs without SE
So basically all of their combined hours billed, are monetary damages from SE going down
15:24
Wait will disabling cloudflare makes the site vulnerable to ddos attacks?
@HenryWhiteHatHacker in theory
and in theory slow down things
but SE's pretty light and well designed. Also anyone dumb enough to try will get lynched by every developer in his city ;)
@JourneymanGeek lol I'd kinda love to see that play out actually

hi
@schroeder Hello
don't start that again
18:08
hi
so can I trust hashcat ?
don't want to install something on my main computer that would steal my bank details or install a root kit lol
18:27
depends on where you get it
@Developer The virus total score is 3/56 malware found virustotal.com/en/file/….
Does that link work?
And I got the download from the main site.
Does that mean the software is safe if it scored 3/56 malware found?
18:55
it depends on who found things and what they found. Symantec's "reputation" finding is a low risk finding if the rest are clean, for instance
I do not believe this. I believe each 256 bit string has exactly $2^{256}$ sha-256 prehashes of length 512. — Albert Hendriks 45 mins ago
I understand why people believe all kinds of weird things in matters such as religion and politics, but I don't get why people value belief when it comes to science and disregard facts
granted, this is about an open problem, but why state “I believe” so peremptorily?
happens when one confuses "I opine" with "I believe"
19:31
@schroeder if i get it from here
20:17
i am feeling sleepy too
