Most comic book stuff passed me by. I spent a lot of my childhood up mountains and away from anything. 2000AD was the only one, really. Then there was a gap before I got Watchmen when I was at university and started to get into things like Sin City and a bunch of Grant Morrison's stuff.

@RoryAlsop x-men was always my comic of choice as a kid, so knew at least their stuff (too expensive in those days to keep up with a lot of comics) but the marvel universe is byzantine in the extreme with reboots/mash-ups/crossovers so it's hard for anyone to know all the backstories
