sure, what could be worse than hanging around with a bunch of people who really want to give you a sweaty hug while smashed off their faces for the camera
and you're being paid to not say no
@kalina I'm sure that's not the only experience at a club.. anyway don't you get to be in the VIP room or similar
away from the proles
sure, you get to wander anywhere in a club with a performer pass
kinda defeats the purpose of what you're selling if you're completely invisible though
@kalina sounds like you need some large bodyguard types to hover round you and project an aura of "don't mess with the talent"
it's very rare anything actually dangerous happens in a night club
which is ironic, a bit
@kalina no but you could put them on "no sweaty huggie people" duty
12:04
well that's the dilemma isn't it
random person approaches you and gives you a sweaty hug, that person later goes home and follows you on twitter/facebook
random person approaches you can gets taken out by security, that person doesn't doesn't go home to follow you on twitter and facebook
@kalina absolutely not sure :))
@kalina tricky curse of performing types I guess
indeed, showing more tolerance than I'd like about a lot of things
@kalina that seems quite reasonable. Nice!
And by 'nice' I mean much better than 'good' obviously
that was an example number that does not in any way reflect my actual finances
I wouldn't want to give you more information than is required
12:15
heh
12:36
hey
@RoryAlsop @AviD etc.
why don't you guys have a shit flag yet?

A: After getting doxxed, how can one protect personally identifiable information?

Maddox BeWhat to Do After Search ? Imagine you found a content with your info like a picture on Flickr that got indexed in Google. All You Have to do is to Contact the person who uploaded the content and ask them to remove it, If you didn't get respond in 3 days you could ask the Website, After deleting ...

this is hillarious
@kalina That is literally the most insulting you can be to me.
@Simon pls
@Simon literally the most insulting?
are you certain?
that sounds like a challenge
@kalina of course it's a challenge, what else could it be
12:49
o pls all
Morning donuting should be forbidden.
but I don't want to actively search for @Simon's weakness :|
@Simon Sounds kinky.
Is that a Canadian sex act?
@Simon is that a euphemism?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
@kalina well you can always just admit you're not up to the challenge
12:50
@RоryMcCune I am of course completely capable of the challenge
in fact, calling it a challenge is insulting
@kalina I shall be interested to see what you come up with
but I do not wish to reduce @Simon to mushy sadness that may leave
@kalina I'm going to suggest that his response to this would/will be "pls"
lps
well @Simon is on the list of people I would hug if I met
at least once, since that's the number of times it would take for him to do something to upset me
12:53
hugs hey, nice ass gurl
@Simon have you ever heard of not confirming a stereotype...
stereowat
@Simon Using two type writers at the same time.
@Simon stereophonic
12:55
Ah. Why wouldn't I want to confirm stereo typing roro?
That sounds pretty badass, man.
...the recording of you saying wat with two microphones
That's funny you have such lists :)
slaps gurly asses all ova da place
AAAWWWW YUUUUUUH
I'M A MAN WITH A WEEN
@M'vy not really
not being a specialist in the way the brain works, I'd assume everybody keeps many hundreds or thousands of mental lists
or millions
hum
that's an interesting way of thinking it
12:56
everything can be distilled into a list
^ that I can agree on.
the fact you can make yourself a coffee proves the existence of a mental list of instructions on how to make coffee
My mental list keeps track of how much beer I drink. But then I can't read my mental handwriting and give up.
I'm not a crazy person
(I haven't yet fulfilled the list of requirements I keep in my head)
Is this real?

Q: After getting doxxed, how can one protect personally identifiable information?

J KimballDoxing (publicly releasing private information about an individual, to make it easier to harass them) is becoming an increasingly popular tactic not just for hackivists and Anonymous, but also for petty individual revenge. What are actionable, best practice steps that an individual should take t...

12:58
@RoraΖ is it just fantasy?
Is dox really a word?
@RoraΖ yep
@RоryMcCune Caught in a landslide?
you can tell how leet someone is by whether they've d0x'ed some n00bs
@RoraΖ I dunno but I doubt that "doxxed" would be the proper spelling.
doxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxed
12:59
@Simon plllls
LOOK AT ME MOM, I'M DOUBLING X'S
XX XX XX
@Simon you can tell the tigger is not in at the moment...
otherwise we'd be wondering why you like slapping ponies...
@Simon TRIPLE XXX's bow chicka wow wow
I can mimic what the winnie da pooh fanatic would do.
It would be something like:
puts da room in ovid mode
PLS ALL B NICE
That is all.
@Simon don't forget the <DELETED>
13:01
I'm pretty sure he would have started by something involving "your mom" first
@RоryMcCune Ah yes, look:
Now that is a full ovid impersonation.
not really
What am I missing?
that was more like @Simon with zero bofh experience doing a terribly poor impersonation of @AviD who wishes he had bofh experience
wat
13:03
you need to come across as though you have such a high opinion of yourself and that it could never be your fault, while simultaneously demonstrating the truth
o
IT WASNT MY FAULT BUT I DID IT
Is that fine?
we don't matter, we're all minions here exclusively because of your presence and we couldn't possibly have another reason to be here
dayum son
@Simon fair warning, this is @kalina warming up for her challenge of finding something more insulting to say to you
pls boi this not a dayum moment
13:05
So it's December doesn't the hat challenge start?
ain't nobody got time for your dayum
OH MY GOD
WINTER BAAAAAAAAAAAASH
KALINUH R U GONNA NURD DA FUK OUT OF DA BASH AGAIN?
no I'm -99% likely to not take part this year
Why?
@kalina so you are going to then
13:07
I'm glad somebody in here could win a battle of wits against a glass of water
@RоryMcCune arqade syndrom
wat
@kalina I lost the battle. Who is the winner, that I may learn from them?
@kalina So you're very unlikely to not take part?
So you're likely to take part
Damn people at work talking to me, delaying my messages
Fools
o pls I haven't had my coffee yet, don't be that clever to me.
13:18
- I've been getting fruity texts from that girl at work. - Melanie? - No, I mean suggestive.
I don't get it.
@Simon rly?
@Simon melony
Oh wow.
I'm glad that I didn't get it.
@Simon it's all the more awesome if it takes a while for you to get it
13:21
...
It might be our Frenchness Yves.
well I mean what difference could there be between an A and an O
@kalina KALINUH wanna hear a funky Techno track?
@Simon did you write it?
pls no
Also, what website do you guys use to buy online books, like PDF or something that I can read on Android?
13:26
@Simon amazon kindle + manning + pragmatic publishers
I'd like to find "Der Klang Der Familie" somewhere.
Google books ?
@M'vy Not available there, unfortunately.
At least not for me.
@RоryMcCune I can simply install the app on my device, correct?
13:28
@Simon yeah there's a kindle app for pretty much every platform + you can read in browser
Perfect, thanks.
@RоryMcCune I did not know about that, that's pretty cool
Oh you can kindle on another thing than a kindle now?
@RoraΖ also if you're a prime member you can have a "family library" and share books
Yeah 40 bucks (CAD) for the paperback is quite a lot imo.
13:29
@M'vy yeah their iOS app is good and the browsers fine
@Simon it used to be that the eBooks and pBooks were similar prices, but that's changed more recently
so the eBooks tend to be decently cheaper
@RоryMcCune Well it makes a ton of sense, I get nothing physical!
I should only be paying for the rights at that point.
roro, in the link you've sent me, do you actually see somewhere written "ebook: 13$"?
I only get the Paperback option.
kindle £13.09
shows up on my page...
Yep I don't have the kindle option.
Weird.
@RоryMcCune hmmm, might have to look into this Prime thing
@RoraΖ it saves me a tonne of cash 'cause I make so many amazon orders and I get free delivery
13:33
@Simon Amazon hates canada, go to the US or UK site.
@Simon that's super odd, I guess you canadian donuts may not have it...
@RoraΖ I am on the .com site.
I wonder if they're even filtering by IP there!
@Simon yah I tried amazon.ca and that book ain't there.... sounds like you need to move to a civilsed country...
Motherfuckin' assholes.
I can't actually buy the Kindle edition.
I checked within the kindle app.
@Simon Doesn't the .com site redirect to whatever country you're in?
13:35
@RoraΖ Nope, they let you know that you should be shopping on the .ca but they let you browse anyway.
Man, that sucks.
It's like iTunes, there's music not available for my country.
So I can't even purchase certain tracks on iTunes.
At that point, it's almost easier to illegally download music.
@Simon well I'm sure you get music that the rest of the world doesn't get... like Celine Dion ..... and Justin Bieber
How lucky I am!
@Simon well I know how much of a belieber you are
Oh and now I receive an email greeting me to my new kindle app.
FUCK YOUUUUUU
@RоryMcCune o pls
@RоryMcCune Brian Adams
13:43
EVERYTHING I DOOOO
I DO IT 4 U
lets be honest
there's only one good Canadian band
Barenaked Ladies?
SIMPLE PLAN?
whodafukisdat
@Simon ok BNL makes two I guess
@Simon dudes who've been rockin' hard since before you were born (hell almost before I was born)
13:45
Yeah man, look at all this grey hair.
recently inducted into the West Canada music hall of fame
lolwest
^ easiest way to not learn vim
Not sure what that would imply on the system. Probably will install tiny-vim instead
nano is the worst, why would anyone choose nano
@Simon here's the same band in 1989, lead singer dude had grey hair then...
13:50
Cause its not vi ;p
@RоryMcCune They were recording with potatoes back then, eh?
Actually, the quality is not that bad at all.
@RoraΖ Because it's pre-installed on most Pi Images :x
@Simon yeah for an analogue ---> digital conversion it came out not too bad..
Have some workplace-music: youtu.be/SgXSomPE_FY

Q: Rerouting domains and the need for multiple SSL certificates

NicoletteIf a domain URL is registered with a .com. ( www.example.com) and would like to re-route a secondary domain name with a .com.tr (www.example.com.tr) URL to the domain with the .com URL - is this possible ? The .com domain is SSL certified. Do I need a secondary SSL certificate in order to re-rou...

This person is thanking himself at the end of his question!
@Simon Is that a long-lost sibling of yours?
@RoraΖ it's simple as shit
@Lighty Shush Dutch kiddo.
oh fuk i got the populist badge
@Ohnana terrible as shit
14:09
pls how is nano terriboo?
@Ohnana hands a cookie
@Simon rofl
@RoryAlsop changing your name is public record. doing that does not help you hide unless you get a court injunction
In cases of bodily harm, you can get a court injunction
might even get one for stalking
but that's (a form) you have to (turn into the court) before appearing before the judge
14:13
You could, yeah. Witness protection too
@Ohnana The file can be deleted
I saw a guy convicted of multiple kiddy porn charges get his records sealed, and then his request to get his records sealed sealed.
Pretty screwed up
someone had a good lawyer
Or a good political connection cough
@Ohnana - yep, that's why I had that as the end point. Such as witness protection etc
witness protection over stalking? errr
No, I'm adding different reasons why someone may be able to get a court injunction
Reading compyhension raptor does not like you
14:19
^@kalina @Simon in case you've not seen this..
We want to twist knobs, not touch screens.
@Simon just sayin' could be useful for those times when your knobs aren't easily to hand, but inspiration strikes
I mean to my uneducated ear, some of the stuff he did with that sounded quite good (if you like that kind of thing)
@RоryMcCune I can't count the number of times inspiration struck, only for me to be unable to utilize it on the spot since I don't have my computer with me. Like random shower thoughts, or something. :p
@MarkHulkalo happens to me a lot, luckily shower is near computer so I can write stuff down afterwards, usually presentation ideas
Mostly happens to me out in the middle of nowhere
14:25
Jesus -.-
there is this Dutch tv commercial
about "Don't drink and smoke under 18"
it's fine, not a big deal
but, their campaign tells parents to change their WiFi "name" to NIX18 (from the dutch word Niks, wich emans nothing)
and password to NIETROKENENDRINKEN (niet roken en dirnken, wich means dont smoke and drink)
I don't see what possibly could go wrong there
2
DERP
@Lighty surely they've got to be trollin'
someone on the dutch ad counsel wants some free internets
3
@RоryMcCune nix18.nl/wifi
Thats not a joke

Q: Source of MITM?

silverpenguinevery few days My machine specifically experiences what feels like an automated MitM attack, firstly I say my machine because no one else experiences this in the office at the same time as me (while someone has before experienced it from there machine I cannot confirm it was the same thing) Whe...

place bets: stupid ISP or cannot into computer?
14:28
nix18 is a governement campaign that also runs on schools to educate children the dangerous of alcohol abuse, how alcohol works, and smoking, drugs etc.
@Lighty they tell you on the page to use a different password though
a requiered thing imo
@Ohnana I stood infront of the TV not a while ago, and googled its commercials
seems they "fixed" it
then again, seems like variations of the password to me
@Lighty that's what i figured
Dictionary attack incoming
@Ohnana May be a corporate setup. He may not have access to certain websites... this happens to me a lot when trying to surf websites.
14:29
and the password checker doesn't ask you to put in the password so that's good
@Lighty If there is one thing we've learned about passwords in our short existence, it's that people can't be trusted to come up with variations.
This is why GOvernement and IT don't mix well
our GOv has an internal IT branch, and the Gov dictates what it should do
Government and IT can be hilarious
if they just, like, hired a company for that, shit wasn't as bad
@MarkHulkalo Gov sites here aren't really that user-friendly
@Lighty Son, I've got an advice for you
NIETROKENENDRINKEN
14:31
@Lighty A lot of ours are just as bad.
And the funny thing is the recent OPM hack. I mean, it doesn't get more moronic than that.
@Simon YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, I AM AN ADULT 18 YEAR OLD AND KNOW EVERYTHING BETTER THAN YOU AT THIS MOMENT BLABLABLA -every teenager ever
That's the all-time worst case of hacking ever made in the history of mankind.
@Lighty Fine son, do whatever you like and I guarantee you that you'll drink & smoke once.
Says who? 15 years old me.
@Simon 1: that was a joke, 2: there is nothing wrong with a glass of Baileys
@Simon shmoke only once... he's in holland!
14:33
1: I know 2: pls
@RоryMcCune I SAID DRINK AND SMOKE
YOU DO ONE, NOT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME
@Simon wouldn't know guv that whole shmokin' thing is illegal over here
o pls
I forgot to specify what to smoke
to evade any embarrassing things, let's stay with tobacco
@Lighty ohh I thought we were talking about crack
@RоryMcCune wtf!
14:41
@Ohnana pls, you can't have missed the implicit <sarcasm> tag :op
You know your web host is bad when it doesn't let you log in to the control panel on your phone
Yeah, that's all really easy to do
Wait, what?
The only required condition is that the WIFI transmitter of the mobile device will be open (No need to surf the web).
...
@Ohnana Malware.
@RоryMcCune I've actually seen that in action before.
14:52
@RоryMcCune that is, it's bad if the product works as advertised
Pretty sure it does.
@Ohnana well when they're selling to govs for big money, I guess it'll need to deliver...
how tf do they do that, though
@RоryMcCune Sounds like a WiFi Pineapple. But since they're selling it to governments, it probably costs 30 times as much.
14:54
Vulnerability in the wifi firmware
Yeah, that's one way to do it... but I have doubts a wifi pineapple is that effective without user-interaction
@Xander yeah it would need some way to actually get the devices to connect through it though, which is tricky, how are they handling SSL (which things like facebook/dropbox use)
You'd have to know in advance which networks they automatically connect to
otherwise it won't get past the handshake
@MarkHulkalo yeah getting a connection is relatively easy, getting valuable data less so...
@RоryMcCune If you save your passwords, it's pretty easy. I do wonder what's going on with Facebook/dropbox, though.
@MarkHulkalo You don't need to know in advance. The phone broadcasts that information.
14:56
@AustinHartzheim The phone broadcasts information about the WiFi networks it knows?
@MarkHulkalo Yes.
@MarkHulkalo yeah
@MarkHulkalo Yeah. It constantly sends out messages like "is network XXX here?"
Okay, that I did not know. That's dumb
of course it may not be wi-fi at all, could be fake base station
14:56
I have an app on my phone to stop that behavior.
Okay, pretty easy to siphon those contacts then.
And pretty much everything else
@MarkHulkalo not really, at an IP level the connections are SSL
@RоryMcCune I don't think it's exactly what they claim. I think it's a standard WiFi MitM. They listen for probes to unprotected networks, then advertise as those networks, and let the phone go ahead and connect. Then they take advantage of the fact that apps start syncing, and any app that doesn't do cert pinning gets owned.
so you need to intercept SSL to get useful data passively
@RоryMcCune You mean forced dropping to plaintext?
14:57
@Xander to do that they need a valid SSL root cert....
@Xander so it's a fkin rogue access point attack
now if you've got a valid SSL root cert. then sure all bets are off
@RоryMcCune like the us govt
but any co. getting caught issuing those will get it revoked real quick
Hmm... I think I know now
14:58
@Ohnana sure US.Gov can get them no worries, private companies less so
Okay, so a wifi pineapple that does an RCE on your phone, and keylogs you. Pretty much that
@RоryMcCune Good point. They could be only targeting apps that don't validate certs at all, or that are vulnerable to SSLStrip.
There's a way to exploit SwiftKey for example, to turn it into a keylogger
FFox/IE/Chrome will revoke a rogue root cert and boot the CA these days I reckon
So all you have to do is type in your passwords once
14:59
@Xander yeah so they're either over-selling (only works on old/crap apps) or they have something cool and invasive to get access
