12:20 AM
@Xander that user has been around for 25 days ....

@schroeder Sure enough. Weird. Looking at it more closely, though it's eerily similar to the other posts today, there are actually some differences.

12:43 AM
@Xander @schroeder - I'm beginning to wonder whether Android.SE might be a better plane for these

@D.W. Hey there. I don't really understand what the problem is with my question here: security.stackexchange.com/questions/89920/… It isn't 5 questions. Also, given enough time and spending it in research, one can become expert on any field and answer any of their current's questions.

@hakermania watcha' hackermania, so I'm not @D.W. nor am I a mod, but I guess he may well think that you have 5 questions there as you have a bullet point list with 5 items starting with "here are my questions", does kind of give the impression of multiple questions :)

@RоryMcCune nope. I just have 2 questions in the security stack exchange, both with positive voting and only the one has bullet points (which, personally, I find no issue with).

@hakermania in the question you linked you say "Here are my questions" and then have a list of 5 bullets with related but different questions
that, I think is what, @D.W. is referring to

Oh, better rephrase it

yeah that could well help :)

9:12 AM
Watcha' @TerryChia hows tricks?

@RоryMcCune Not too bad! Preparing my Pycon talk slides actually.

@TerryChia cool stuff, when is it?

@RоryMcCune 18 and 19 June. Still have some time left.

yeah that's not too close in.
what's your topic?

@RоryMcCune Writing an interpreter in Python.

9:15 AM
@TerryChia should be an interesting talk to research/do..
I'm happy that I've done my talking for the time being, unless I come up with some inspiration not planning to submit anything for the rest of the year...

@RоryMcCune Mmm hmm. I have a toy interpreter I'm working on in my spare time.

@TerryChia yeah talks like that are good as motivation to keep working on things :)

Morning all

Watcha' @RoryAlsop

Would have been in to chat earlier, but trawling through all the odd user accounts posting rubbish Android questions

9:19 AM
I saw Eoin at AppSec, he says Hi :)

Cool - how's he doing?
Not spoken to him in ages

@RoryAlsop well, his company has apparently made it into Gartner magic quadrants now!

wow - nice

So he has the delight of running/growing the company and speaking to VC/investor types

is he still stirring up OWASP? :-)

9:21 AM
@RoryAlsop heh, well he's definitely still in the mix, but OWASP never seems to lack for people who want to stir things up :)

Robert ClarkTo Rory, delete this answer after you read it. However, as a beginner I don't yet have comment capability. I tried to respond to Philip's answer and couldn't do that either. This is written as an answer for the same reason.

^ yeah @RoryAlsop, delete it :)
"morning"

@TildalWave eh - lolwut
and morning

1:18 PM
I can't wake up properly ... we had like 3-4 days of rain now and not even strong coffee helps. Really glad it's weekend.

Wow. Here is amazing. I have just popped to the shops so had to put at-shirt on. Doubling my garments for the day. Very very hot and sunny

Inorite? It should be 30 deg C now. It came from up north so I blame Germans :)
maybe if they stopped harvesting our wind for their electricity ... :D

Damned Germans, Breaking wind all the time.

I'm gonna star this :)
@TildalWave Because I am actually trying to develop a control system for an ADCS ( I already have th AD-part). I understood your explanation but what do you mean by "gimbal"? What is the easiest to steer a thruster or a flywheel (for a beginner, I am not speaking about the electronic circuit needed for it or so)? — trilolil 3 mins ago
this is rather funny for those that will understand it
I mean, the answer is "you control current and with it coil polarity", but if he's developing a control system for an ADCS he should really know all of this already
How do you steer your magnetorquer?

1:47 PM
@TildalWave Butterflies actually.

2:26 PM
@TerryChia Yeah? Haven't you heard of the butterfly effect? Only Germans would use butterflies to steer a magnetorquer :)

1 hour later…
3:36 PM
It is worrying he doesn't know what a gimbal is...

4:09 PM
or anything about control theory, or what a magnetorquer even is, or what I suspect will be next, what is the environment that it will be applied to
I'm tempted to post a maths whiteout answer :) Would that be mean?

Hehehehehe - it might help inform them they have a bunch of learning to do yet

vector sets and eigenvalues ... that should discourage the most persistent ones LOL
I'm not sure I ever used matrices in MathJax tho, I might discourage myself in the process

Vectors were the one bit of maths I didn't feel was natural. I could do them, but it was by rote. At least with calculus I could feel what the maths was doing

4:37 PM
ditto
I'm fine with vector space but as soon as I place those values in a matrix I can't picture it easily any more. OK, two dimensions is still easy but it's almost never as simple as that.
and all those stupid combination to crawl your way to some value you want to extract from it ... far from intuitive, at least to me

5:35 PM
@TildalWave matrices in tex are an arse. I've got a bunch of cls files for that sort of thing.

6:17 PM
Evenin' All, I'm home, Yay \o/
@M'vy BTW I have high hopes that this time the video of my talk will actually make it onto the Internet

Adi
@RоryMcCune Great blog post

@Adi thanks :) I had some time in the airport and I've been meaning to write that up for a while now...
@Adi you find your other friends ok last night?

Adi
6:54 PM
@RоryMcCune Please don't remind me. I regret meeting up with that guy.

@Adi ahh, oh dear :/ you mean the guy I met, or a different dude?

Adi
@RоryMcCune The guy with whom we had the Duvel

@Adi he was an .. unusual fellow!

Adi
It wasn't until yesterday that I realized "Oh wow, I'm old"

@Adi s/old/mature/g
which is to say it's not necessarily a bad thing :)

Adi
6:56 PM
Annoying, childish, has 0 interesting thing to say, embarrassed the shit out of me at the RDL
To be honest, I'd rather spend time with @Simon

@Adi ooops, yeah I could imagine young guys in that area might be a bit embarrasing!
@Adi LOL

Adi
@RоryMcCune In the end, he got so so sooo high that I had to basically carry him

@Adi oh noes, that's not good, did you manage to get him back to his place ok?

Adi
In the morning, I told him that he can either go to his city or just spend the rest of the time in Amsterdam on his own.
I bought him a train ticket back to his city and he left.
Needless to say, that's the last time I'm ever gonna see him

@Adi sounds like the best option...

Adi
6:59 PM
Indeed

7:40 PM
hey @Simon @DavidFreitag I found a new song for you :)

1 hour later…
8:52 PM
@RоryMcCune Wouldn't those two be busy watching Eurovision now? :))

1 hour later…
10:00 PM
@RоryMcCune Heh, it's not too bad actually.

@RоryMcCune That is the best parody of drum and bass ever.
