@TildalWave Yup, one of the big things here in the States (at least in the South) is Sweet Tea flavored vodka. Hopefully it hasn't made it out of the States, because it's pretty terrible. It's alcohol for people who want to get drunk, rather than enjoy what they're drinking. That's what most flavored vodkas seems to be....I haven't had Finlandia, but sounds like it's much the same.
which is kinda funny because their normal vodka is one of the driest, also one of my favs (if I really have to LOL)
So far only one hangover. And it was my stag do, so I'll accept that one :-)
At some point I'll break, I'm sure...
@RoryAlsop I'm sorry...Are you saying you've only had one hangover in your entire life!? If so, I salute you sir.
@RoryAlsop you seem to mix your drinks with soft ones (or drink next to) so you should be fine ... it's the alcohol dehydration that gets you the hangover
Koskenkorva blueberry and vanilla are pretty nice :) don't think they're drank as shots, though, more like an added flavor to a drink...
00:02
@RoryAlsop I haven't had many, but I've certainly had more than one.
this one looks interesting, is this flavored or distilled with lingonberries?
@Kisunminttu I've seen that before! It's....Interesting.
I have found that eating plenty of salt and drinking lots before any amount of drinking and there is no hangover.
But then again I've never been near alcohol poisoned levels of drunk.
@TildalWave I do believe it's a flavored vodka
Never tasted that one... I like lingonberry and vodka isn't on my hate list but lingonberry flavored vodka? Meh.
00:09
Funny I always thought that lingonberries and cranberries are the same thing. That would explain why they don't really taste the same, tho similar. I thought that's just the industry taste thing, we only have lingonberries here (I think) which I like a lot more.
@Kisunminttu Flavored definitely meh ... distilled, now that's a real thing then. Probably it would also be expensive.
@TildalWave Lingonberries work great with pork and moo moo meat, especially stews! Cranberries work best with chicken and turkey dishes IMO
Oh, and I mean on the side, either fresh or as a jam. Not in the stew...
I never had fresh cranberries, only lingonberries. So I don't really know.
@Kisunminttu When you say "moo moo meat" do you mean beef? Or moose? I suspect beef, but just want to clarify.
Lingonberries ... yum
@Xander Beef :D I call it moo moo meat because I can never remember the word "beef". Not even in Finnish. I call it cow meat.
00:13
@Kisunminttu Hey, works for me. :-)
BTW they go great with venison
Moose meat would be cracked windshield meat...
@Kisunminttu LOL. Yikes. I totaled my first car on a lowly deer. I don't want to think what a moose would have done to it.
@Xander Soooo many moose-related accidents in Finland every year :(
There was an incident involving 3 moose and a train, this is the result static.iltalehti.fi/uutiset/veturietu1602JOB_503_uu.jpg
Apparently it's not at all uncommon that moose and reindeer get in the way of trains. Usually the train keeps on choo-chooing.
@Kisunminttu Jesus if they're gonna run over wildlife surely there's many better colors to paint the train with than white and green?
00:20
@TildalWave Well we do have older ones that are blue...
sometimes I do wonder what they're thinking when they're deciding how to paint such stuff
@Xander - I do tend to avoid beer after the first pint, and mostly drink cocktails. Ideally a different one every time. It seems to work well
Right, gents, here we have a few new trains and we need to paint them. They're faster than the old ones. So let's paint them in colors of the environment so nobody sees them coming, shall we?
It's my Orkney upbringing
@TildalWave Our old trains are red, good for hiding the blood of things they hit.
00:25
I may just be drunk, but I'm seeing @TildalWave's words as song lyrics...
@TildalWave Better yet, let's paint them to match the seasons!
@Arperum also good to spot them from miles away in any weather
which is exactly how they should look like
@RoryAlsop What're your fave cocktails?
not bloody blend with the environment
@TildalWave camo ftw
00:27
or worse ... those silver trains that you can't even make out if they're moving towards you or away from you as soon as the sun shines at a bit lower angle
@Kisunminttu - ahh, I'm not really into choosing one or two. I like a drink pathway through the evening...
@TildalWave - we don't get them here
@TildalWave Especially when you get all kinds of fancy crashes, such as train running into other train. Or train flying of track in a trainstation and going through the wall. (The first one was semi-recent and I was in a third train the two others trains fell on after crashing.
Our trains go at under 30mph and stop for a misplaced leaf
Or the ones up north that have some stops only if you ask the conductor.
There is a great request stop in the middle of nowhere that was in the film Trainspotting
The image of the one newer train being mostly wrapped inside out on the other older train is still super fresh, even years later.
@RoryAlsop Reminds me of my train tour through Austria ... it went 10 km/h because of 5 cm of new snow and a chance of avalanches. You can imagine how much sense it makes to go even slower then next to 4 km or higher mountains LOL
00:35
@Flyk - what do you think of this
Don't know if too industrial for you.
In thinking it's like modern Kraftwerk
BTW I've been on British Rail ... no comment
I won't go again tho
it might be cheaper to fly anyway
@DavidFreitag Wanna post an answer here? space.stackexchange.com/questions/8208/…
I'm not too happy with level of information there so far
you might also wanna look at another question about non-rad hardened COTS that was asked recently space.stackexchange.com/questions/8198/…
00:57
@Ror sounds as nasty as I'd expect it to sound on hire car speakers.

A: Why so long to break 128-bit encryption?

TanKanTits possible to crack by getting the 128 encryption string and deciphering it (your computer is nothing but numbers and them numbers are text and stuff average people cant read....

Well done new guy, well done. Now please, don't ever post again.
You're not reading it right. You need to get really really drunk first and spend half an hour focusing on its letters. Then it gets really deep.
Oh.
must be really fun reading question on SE shitfaced ... zis s ssssoooooooo eezee imma anshwer it

2 hours later…

@DavidFreitag They use static methods only IIRC.

.@SwiftOnSecurity @shaver I wonder if the TLS proxy puts every Lenovo laptop into PCI scope since its becoming a server for CC transactions.
Interesting thought. :P

@Kisunminttu I'll say "the one in the Yellow can" 'cause there's no way I can type the name on it on a UK keyboard :)
Morning @RоryMcCune - I'm don't my usual. Sitting at a pool waiting for children to race. At least there's WiFi
S/don't/doing
@RoryAlsop you should start taking a laptop along with you and code JavaScript!
get in with the hipster crowd
@RоryMcCune Make sure it's a Macbook.
@TerryChia he'll need to get himself some skinny jeans and a caramel machiato then
09:43
@RоryMcCune Always a good idea.
@Flyk BTW I blame your use of mardy for the fact that I know have Arctic Monkeys songs going round my head all the time!
I'm writing part of a book, and doing some SE moderation... On my 1+1
At least this is only a 3 hour competition. Youngest has 4 races, then I get to do some ingress and home
And editing someone else's book
I already get annoyed when typing short comments on stackoverflow on my phone.
SE interface isn't great, but with this phone it's incredibly fast and easy in my document editor. The swipe keyboard is great, and editing words after the fact is easy
10:15
@RoryAlsop sounds even worse on laptop speakers
Oh. I didn't know if it was a genre you liked.
I don't have enough knowledge in that area to know if that sound style is deliberate
(I find dubstep utterly impenetrable, like Bad mistakes or glitches)
How did your gig go last night
they both went fine
@Flyk more tonight?
@RoryAlsop genres, psh :P
I would even listen to your music if it captivated my attention in the first 30 seconds of it playing
not a particular fan of whatever genre this claims to be but it has a guy smashing up his office in it, and that captivates me
10:30
@RоryMcCune That's how I imagine @Simon eating a doughnut.
10:51
Even mine @Flyk? Cool :-)
@TerryChia - assimilation
@RoryAlsop all music
if I don't like it, I make a note deep in my brain and never go back
kinda like how I run the rest of my life
11:27
Seems sensible. It will possibly block you from some small percentage of things but generally seems like a sound tactic (I may be biased as I work similarly)
totally need to build an international circle of friends with houses near nightclubs
save me from housekeeping waking me up when I forget to DND
maybe we could expand airbnb and make clubbnb
I feel completely dead but can't get back to sleep
11:57
Meh 4 votes to migrate to SF, I voted as too broad and it gets migrated. Shouldn't migrations be done automagically only when all of the reviewers agree it's migrate-able to a specific target, and rather flag for mod review if we don't? (instead of obeying the majority vote)
majority ruling
12:43
I demand the right of veto :)
Actually, it's funny that the only ones that can veto on SE are also the ones with nukes. I wonder where they got that model from :D
Team America, fuck yeah.
right, since sleep doesn't work I'm going sight seeing
You're anywhere interesting?
@TildalWave That would be an opsec breach.
@TerryChia your face is an opsec breach
sorry, I must be missing @Simon
@TildalWave first time for everything I guess
inb4 @Simon 's first line next time he's here is "pls all"
12:54
@TildalWave If you know what I look like it's clearly an opsec breach.
@TerryChia Really? I thought you looked just fine ... for a bearded lady.
@TerryChia your picture is on your linkedin profile....
@TildalWave You have me confused with @Iszi.
well a picture presumably intended to be thought of as you is on your linkedin profile
@RоryMcCune Exactly.
12:56
@TerryChia and your e-mail address includes a year (presumably of birth)
@RоryMcCune That would be a smart guess.
so doesn't sound prima facie that you're really going for spy levels of OpSec
@RоryMcCune Unless it's just another level of indirection.
@RоryMcCune your face is prima facie
@TerryChia that is always a possibility on T'internet
12:57
>_>
@TildalWave you really are missing @Simon
@RоryMcCune ah no that was Latin ... he'd have to Google what it means
and yes, maybe a bit
@TildalWave yeah he's not likely to know what latin is I guess
@RоryMcCune Latin is all Greek to @Simon
@TildalWave and greeks all slovakian
13:00
@RоryMcCune And they're all from a Spanish village
13:13
@TildalWave Someone should draw a graph of that
English -> Greek -> Chinese -> Egyptian (Heiroglyphics)
etc
@TildalWave What annoys me most is that it it includes your name is the list, even if you voted for something else.
@ManishEarth Graph everything!
@CodesInChaos Didn't it used to display in the list of the close reason only names that agreed on the one that's displayed?
@TildalWave It does so for the precise reason among off-topic votes. But not for the broader close reason.
and even that discrimination among off-topic votes is a pretty new feature
Ah gotcha. Yes, it is a bit annoying. I'd sometimes even add a FWIW comment that I voted to close for some other reason than listed
It would also be nice to be able to change your close reason vote during reopen reviews. They're often closed for a reason that's later addressed but create or don't solve another.
Anyway, auto migrate should be more sensitive. If there's other issues with posts then don't migrate. They're even less likely to be resolved on a site that OP might not even have an account yet.
And cross-posts should be auto flagged. It shouldn't be too difficult to check OP's past activity on other SE sites and look for same titles or body texts.
But just flagged, because sometimes there is a point in cross-posting, tho rarely.
13:49
@Flyk not sure that would fit your OpSec model
@Ror I book myself into hotels under the name sailor twist
@Flyk I would love that to be true
It would appeal to my sense of humour immensely
14:05
@TildalWave We like to show tourists what trains looked like in Victorian Britain (circa 1890).
Although there are unconfirmed rumours the trains actually ran on time back then.
;p
You clearly had much longer days
since the sun never set on the empire.
and yeah, definately cheaper to fly or bus, even if I do love the surviving oldschool railway stations
and as a temporary bristolian, I miss temple meads :/
@JourneymanGeek Are we talking about @RoryAlsop?
;p
@TerryChia: naw, he probably predates the empire ;p
long, hot, filled with fun
3
@JourneymanGeek He was Palpatine's mentor.
14:16
the days
back then
@TerryChia nah - I was always on the good side (defined as my side)
(starbait success :-)
@JourneymanGeek I'm convinced the entire motivation for conquering lots of places was to have a plentiful supply of places the navy could go which had much better weather.
and of course to work out if anywhere else had "jolly fine tea". Or alcohol.
I think it was the tea
I mean, to this day, your tanks have tea boilers ;p
@JourneymanGeek This sounds about right.
Actually according to wiki... all british military vehicles have em...
(I wonder if they retrofitted the warthog with em)
14:26
I think by "we need meaningful reform in europe" our politicians mean "your hotels need to stop serving lipton yellow label and start serving proper tea".
and probably "start voting for us in eurovision".

Company needs to be SOX compliant but doesn't have a professional sysadmin. That's going to end well.
23:50
@Gilles Doesn't SOX just apply to publicly traded and thus big companies?
@CodesInChaos I think so, a company like that should be able to hire a competent sysadmin, or at least a professional
