@TerryChia Yeah, saw it. Now that MS is pulling the software, Mozilla has no qualms about blocking all the certs
Since without MS's actions, blocking the cert would create an unusable internet (unless we created a dialog and all)

@Iszi Isn't that called a CRL?
Man, just one more +1 on an answer of mine today and I reach my 200 rep max!
Stop lying, you're already at 200.

I think GMT is about to end though, I'll probably get screwed.
@Simon You don't know me!
I know you enough to know that you're at 200 you donut.
@raz you actually are at 200 today
175 on superfish and 25 on rtc
20:21
@raz CRLs are for certs that were issued by legitimate authorities and have since been compromised or otherwise deemed no longer valid for their purpose. I'm looking for certs that have been issued by authorities who should have never been trustworthy in the first place - e.g.: Superfish.

@Iszi Natural 1? I didn't know what it was so I tried to wiki it... alternative fold band....
@Simon Wait... you're going to #shutupsimon for 20 years? Where's that bottle of champagne we've been saving?

@Simon Come on now, you're slightly better than that. 10 years.
@Iszi Either you're dumb or you can't read or both.

@raz AKA "critical fail".
@raz DnD reference
@Iszi Ever since you posted that you're gonna get rid of me if dies, everyone's been supporting the idea.
typically players will roll a die with 20 faces to determine how well they did something on a scale of 1 to 20
@raz Look up "critical" and "natural" here:
Role-playing game terms are words used in a specific sense (terms) in the context of role-playing games. @Ohnana Yeah I'm not a DnD nerd
20:47
@Ohnana NURD
@DavidFreitag someone forgot to put points in charisma
Don't make me put on my +10 chainmail boots of nurd squashing.
@DavidFreitag that would be a hilarious item
+1d6 for each point in intelligence
@Ohnana ...nurd
21:17
I miss D&D but I like my sex life.
@Ohnana 1s make the DM giddy. 20s may incur their wrath.
@Simon NURD
D&D IS FUN AS HELL STOP IT
Both roleplay and miniature.
I saw this nurd in a diner once with a DND manual in a book holster.
I nearly fell out of the booth I was laughing so hard.
@Simon So you're saying you like roleplaying with midgets?
21:22
ffs ex-dad is very snarky today
@DavidFreitag "book holster"?
@Iszi It was a holster containing a book and it was strapped to his thigh.
It was leather and clearly home made, but well aged. It looked nice apart from how hilarious it was.
@DavidFreitag Wow. Are we talking 4e Rules Compendium or like a full-on Dungeon Master's Guide?
LOL
@Iszi Pretty sure it was a full on guide. It was almost 3" thick
21:26
@DavidFreitag That's what she said!
@Iszi ...about your DND dungeon master's guide...
@DavidFreitag Well, yeah. That's what she calls it. I mean, she's kinda nerdy too.
last weekend my DM summarily executed my character (spent 4 years with that character, too). I have spent the entire week crafting the DM's worst nightmare of a replacement character. He has no idea of the hell coming down on his head ....
To be fair, after 4 years, it was bond to happen.
@schroeder Wanna really piss off your DM? Psion is the way to go.
21:28
@Simon I highly doubt 007 plays DND.
Careful though, they're powerful but squishy.
I've had some seriously funny shit happen at the hands of my psion though.
@Iszi I was a Cleric, but the DM always complained about how much healing I could pump out - so I rolled a Pixie Bard/Artificer
@schroeder Heh. Pixie.
@Iszi 50% MORE heals, and heavy on the teleports
pls dovid
21:30
@schroeder Damn! Nice.
My favorite was my Shardmind Telekinetic Psion. Dimensional Scramble is so much fun.
the Wizard in the party is always depressed that she can't use her zones because everyone moves. NOW, I can keep everyone in her zone
I tended to get creative with stuff like Far Hand, too. Once we were fighting in an area where there was a small cart and a well. The cart was able to take an unusual amount of damage as I lifted it and dropped it repeatedly on the enemies. Of course, when I dropped it I needed to move Far Hand to something else to maintain the ability. So the water in the well would just mysteriously levitate and drop itself whenever the cart was being dropped and lifted.
I seem to recall we actually had someone with a degree in Civil Engineering at the table who we had to have calculate the volume/mass/depth of the water for some reason too. Don't remember why.
Good times.
... now that's way too nurdy
@DavidFreitag I'm on your side now, those guys are complete nurdz.
That DM was totally awesome, too. The particular session was just a one-off we did for some visitors. During the introductory bit, with my character pretty much being a hunk of crystal, he had me enter like a screaming asteroid from space. Totally badass.
21:52
@Simon I had to look away from chat for a while
@RоryMcCune - hmm, looks like UI focus is not happening then. I'll keep experimenting

Q: Gpu rig, possibilities

Rob MichielsMy plan is to buy old and cheap graphic cards on the internet and build a gpu rig for password cracking. I have been playing around for some while with OpenMPI and I love the fact that its possible to have multiple gpus working together on the same job. My problem is that I only have 1 old cheap...

22:47
While running password crackers is definitely on topic, this isn't a great question. The answer is to read the GPU password crack forums, and check what gpu scores are there
Meh
23:02
Good luck getting much out of a cheap GPU ... but it's definitely possible to build a whoopass can dispenser with a few decent GPGPUs arstechnica.com/security/2012/12/…
mind that was in 2012 tho not all that much changed in the GPGPU front frankly, it's still expensive if you wanna do it good
@RоryMcCune Ooooh, which one?
@Kisunminttu I like design of this one:
mostly because it looks like our sec.se logo should look like :)
@TildalWave That happens to be my favorite one (the kind that you can get anywhere, that is) :)
with laser eyes of course :)
What a conundrum.
23:10
Great, now I want Karhu.
@Kisunminttu ah I never had it ... just found it on Google
@TildalWave Where do you live on this globe?
@TildalWave Woah, @ThomasPornin makes beer?
heh you know where and I do travel but I just don't remember seeing it ... also, to be honest, I don't usually look for Finnish beers
@DavidFreitag Funny thing, this beer is called "Bear" and they also sell beer that's called "Bear Beer" in Finland, I think Adi posted a pic once
23:13
Anyone familiar with GCC know how to resolve the static declaration follows non-static declaration error... Google isn't providing me with much help.
13
Q: static declaration follows non-static declaration

AlsciendeI'm trying to compile the same C file on two different machines with different versions of cc. gcc version 3.2.3 says warning: 'foo' was declared implicitly 'extern' and later 'static' gcc version 4.1.2 says error: static declaration of 'foo' follows non-static declaration AFAICT, both have th...

For some reason it's acting like I haven't included the proper header and I'm getting an implicit definition warning.
@TildalWave I can send some and I'll let Adi choose some salmiakki to go with it :D
@TildalWave Yep read it, didn't help me at all.
Now I want salmiakki... DAMNIT.
23:17
@DavidFreitag then explain more ... what compiler version?
@TildalWave avr-gcc 4.8.1
@Kisunminttu yeah we could do some "goods exchange" ... I don't go shopping often but I'll keep in mind to look for those few stuff I promised before next time
The function is declared static __inline__ __attribute__((always_inline)) in the header, then called in another function declared exactly the same way in several header files. This is the only one producing an error.
@TildalWave Whoo! I love that kind of stuff!
I'm kinda old-fashioned shopper type ... get as soon out as possible, spend more time drinking beer outside :)
... and of course let her shop all she wants and then carry stuff so I don't have to go to the gym LOL
23:22
@TildalWave If it was just the "get out asap and drink beer outside" I'd have said we call those people hobos... :D
I made a big mistake. I bought extra dry sherry.
@Kisunminttu hehe I mean outside as in at some terrasse ... plus, hobos usually don't lend you their credit card to pay for stuff in the shops :)
This is the most horrible thing I've ever tasted. Granted, I haven't tasted moonshine, but I bet it's not as bad as this. And this stuff has won awards!
@Kisunminttu Moonshine is pretty good
I stop and get a few gallons when I buy illegal fireworks for the 4th of july
@TildalWave Mmm, I like to have a beer or cider outside on a nice day, be it any season :)
Because if you're going to 'Murica, you might as well do it right.
23:25
@DavidFreitag I've only seen the Buzzfeed video about people trying "moonshine" and I felt like I'd like to try that
@Kisunminttu I buy from a guy who makes it in a copper still in his back yard in New Hampshire. He does some flavored stuff too with raspberries and blueberries, and that stuff is to die for.
In Finland we have Kilju. Water, sugar and yeast. In jugs. They even made a song about it.
@DavidFreitag I can't find anything relevant ... no idea, you're probably using it wrong :))
@TildalWave I think I found out why... It's an include nightmare...
Because the compiler is inlining everything the includes need to be all in main and nowhere else..
I think...
@DavidFreitag @Kisunminttu I avoid moonshine at all costs. And vodka. I like to enjoying tasting the things that I drink.
23:40
@Xander I don't know what you're talking about, you can totally taste it. Right up until you pass out.
@DavidFreitag If I wanted to taste water and alcohol, I'd drink rubbing alcohol and save some money.
@Xander Did you not hear the part about the flavored stuff I get? Obviously there isn't much point in straight moonshine.
@DavidFreitag Ah! I did miss that. That's another story.
@DavidFreitag Think vanilla moonshine would work? Vanilla vodka is pretty yum.
Sorry if that was a bit grumpy sounding, I'm in an arm wrestle with GCC right now :|
23:43
@DavidFreitag Ha ha, no worries.
@Kisunminttu In that case, why not just drink vanilla extract?
@DavidFreitag Too sweet, man. Too sweet.
A friend of mine was baking a cake for her sister. At the time she was 10 and her sister was 8. She ended up putting tablespoons of vanilla extract in the cake instead of the required teaspoons (I don't remember how many...). Needless to say they were both drunk by the end of the night.
@Kisunminttu It should be, given how similar it would be. Might be a bit harsher, since good vodka tends to be distilled repeatedly and moonshine is only distilled once.
@TildalWave Apparently it has something to do with my #ifndef header guards. If I move that function prototype outside of the guard it works fine...
23:48
I can't believe you guys are taking about alcohol and I missed it
I got nominated for the ISLP again this year. It's always so difficult to tell them to remove me and let someone else go instead
@Xander there's some fantastic vodkas out there ... my favorite ones are cranberry and wild cherry ones ... not flavored, actually made from it
Delicious pint of gin and tonic
single malt gin?
nice
@RoryAlsop My favorite summer drink. Not so much when it's -2C outside. I'm having a nice rye whiskey instead.
@TildalWave Interesting. I should probably try something like that. My principal complaint with vodka has been the utter lack of interestingness.
23:54
Ah it's about 2 degrees C. So not a cold evening. Should cool a bit overnight though
@Xander Ah yes the usual vodka is pretty meh. I had some interesting mint one (really strong mint) but that was flavored of course, not used during distilling. And I don't like all that much the flavored / colored vodkas either. Like say Finlandia ones.
you can get worst hangovers from these ones:
too much added sugar prolly
