@nealmcb Have closed that one for the moment - I think we do need to look at this, for that very reason you have identified. There are numerous 'how to hack' sites out there. That is irrelevant here - this should be more around how to prevent, protect, repair and remediate in a professional environment.
@RoryAlsop Hmm - thought I was missing some vlogs there for a minute - but I'm guessing its just a typo :)
@nealmcb bloody smartphone autocomplete. fixed now :-)
@RoryAlsop What is the cool term for "smartphone autocomplete"? And when will smartphones learn to autocomplete it? :)
@nealmcb smeurgh! :-) They mess things very badly if you don't watch carefully.
@RoryAlsop Thanks. So when a question is closed, I presume an answer can't be selected - is that a permanent hit to the asker's "accept rate"?

I think so. I have to admit the close is more a temporary thing while we get wider discussion on what to do. It is off topic as it stands, however as I posted on that meta question, if we can work out a requirement for questions such as this to need answers with remediation then I would like to reopen it, as it then becomes practical and on topc again...ish

Q: Tracking position of a person inside a building.

Bruk HabtuHow would one track the position of a person in a building? I have an idea but I am unsure of its validity. Provided wifi nodes are setup in known positions around a building, one could trilaterate the position of the person. Because the distance between the nodes is already known , things like...

Interesting question, but SO doesn't want it (not enough code, I guess)
I wonder if Security would like it? It's kind of relevant (availability of communications in a specific situation)
The wireless management software my network team uses does this. Pretty neat stuff, though it's often less accurate than GPS would be.
Pretty neat stuff.
I see how they're trying to pull the 'civil emergency' approach though. One research project I worked on was using sensor meshes in buildings to detect impending structure failure.
They translated it into terrorist attack response in order to secure funding. That made me feel a bit skeezy.

Q: WLAN Router authentification

chrisIs it true, that WLAN routers aren't authenticated by clients? The only "authentication" is SSID and field strength?

I thought it might have been
