@Simon Because nothing is sillier than your answers.
@ManishEarth Yeah, we have too many power crazed maniacs mods here.

Also, there are quite a number of contributors who are not professional security practitioners (some are not even old enough to have a job), so the idea that the site is "for professionals" must be taken with a grain of salt. — Thomas Pornin 11 hours ago
Awwh.

Hmmm.

Man, it's dead in here today.
#4 is pretty awesome.

@TerryChia NO YOU

Would this question be better on sec.se? stackoverflow.com/questions/18348952/dirbuster-request (before I go flagging for a migration)
@Kev Yup, probably better here.

@TerryChia cool, I'll flag it.
Disappointing, an actual GOT fantasy league would be great. Pretending the books don't exist (as spoilers) you get to pick 3 characters before each episode. You score 1 if the character gets drunk, 2 if they have sex and 5 if they kill someone. Score -10 if they die. I'm picking Tyrion everytime. — Bogdanovist Aug 20 at 13:01
I'd play that.

Power-crazed maniac reporting in.

The more I read about the proposed name change, the more I love it just the way it is: IT Security.
@Hiroto hehe mod powaz! It's all blue here, I thought I posted my last comment to TL :))
...for a split second

Evening all.
19:40
@RoryAlsop Evening! Was the Tough Mudder today?
19:58
@Xander - yes. Was good fun. Bit of a slog, but a good day. Wood have been better if I hadn't only managed three hours sleep last night.
But did it in 3:15 so that's okay for a couple of unfit cripples (both my wife and I have damaged knees and backs)
20:32
Evening
Listening to steel panther, those lyrics are quite... Ehm special
@Gilles There are some pretty outspoken assholes who seem to really want it to be a members only club, I don't disagree. Hell, half the reason I was so annoyed with the last election is that the two biggest jerks on the field got elected!
@RoryAlsop Well congratulations! I'd have been hard pressed to bring myself to start, much less finish, so props to you.
@ScottPack Yeah, I don't even go to SF any more. It's not a fun environment.
@Gilles At the risk of sounding self-selective the most reasonable people seem to go with my opinion. Hell, were the definition of professional on SF mean what those people think then I wouldn't be allowed on there anymore.
@ScottP still don't understand you didn't win
@LucasKauffman I'm pretty sure it was reps. Mike's self promotion writeup was pretty good sounding, it's just too bad he's actually the complete opposite of how he described himself.
@Xander It's a two-fold problem. Whether there actually are there seems to be significantly more crap questions coming through which is frustrating the most active userbase. As well as enough of those most active users getting so frustrated that they're getting rather inappropriate.
@Xander Plus several high rep users who are pretty much just dicks. Some of which have fancy diamonds. All of it together makes for a bad day.
20:40
It's true that they get large amount of questions which are absolutely crap
I don't know if it's actually a better or worse percentage of crap questions, but it certainly feels worse. And honestly the perception of something like that is much more important than the reality.
True
But I can't remember it being as bad as it is now compared to when I joined SF
During my internship I spent at least two hour a day on SF and I can't remember seeing questions popping up daily containing "pls help fix my windows "
However I still think the biggest issue is their protectiveness of splinter sites which overlap with SF
I had a look at [meta.sf] recently. It looks like they do get a lot of crap, but all they're doing to get rid of that crap is whining
@ScottPack That was probably the big deal for me. I was shocked at a couple of comments that I saw from a moderator(s) on several questions, and that just really turned me off.
there's ONE meta post that tells people to vote more. The rest is all “oh no we have too much crap what is SE doing”
20:47
Im really curious to see if network engineering will attract as much crap as Sf does now
@Gilles down voting is also voting :p
Crap questions can be dealt with. Crap moderators really can't.
@LucasKauffman SF is one of the sites that votes the least, both up and down
I know my answer/rep ratio on Sf is about half what I have here
But I'm unsure if they are really all bad mods, Ian is a bit special but he's got good judgement normally, same as voretaq (IMO)
On another topic entirely, I'm happy to see that our friendly local spammer has at keast evolved to promoting real football games, rather than the crappy kick-the-ball-around-a-large-pitch kind.
Oh you mean hand egg
Anyways beer time for me ^^
20:53
@LucasKauffman Yes! Though I'd argue that a rugby ball looks far more like an egg that an American football.
@Lucas - Steel Panther are amusingly awesome!
@Xander - well I had my wife with me and she was on crutches until recently so I was fine really. The electric shocks right at the end nearly did me in though. Got four writes tangled round my neck and chest and they just kept shocking me. Thought I want going to get out of that one.
The one I was really worried about was actually the easiest- Jump into a skip filled with water and ice and swim under a baffle then climb out. This was 100yds after the start.

I don't like gabe.
23:08
@Griffin coming from you, just "not liking" is a compliment :P
23:26
@TildalWave I was going to use more explicated language but I was like nah.
Too tired
