Has everybody met Carlos .... ?
@ton.yeung Don't get me wrong, i like anime it's just that most anime is bad.
@ton.yeung But unfortunately a very, very small amount of that has been dubbed, and an even smaller amount of dubbed anime is actually good.
@Adnan I updated my answer
@ton.yeung Yes, but is English the only language you speak?
@ton.yeung Uh, yeah, me. I mean unless you count programming languages. Then i speak a hand full or so.
@ton.yeung I dunno, i talk to my friends in brainfuck all the time. Must just be you..
I'm actually pretty surprised by these figures
@ton.yeung Denmark
@ton.yeung If you speak the language that the Anime is in (usually japanese) then why would you have to wait for even subbed versions?
@ton.yeung Well there you go, i don't speak a word of it. As for subbed, I'm watching TV not reading a goddamn book. Luckily there are companies out there dubbing popular Anime's.
20:24
@ton.yeung ??? the chart doesn't say that, it places them near the top
@Gilles It is "self-reported". There may be biases.
@ThomasPornin yes, for example I suspect that part of the difference between cz and sk hinges on whether they speak different languages
@ton.yeung My guess is that no one answered the query in Denmark so they got little to no results.
@ton.yeung that they didn't distinguish between good/proficient and basic/fair when they polled people
As for completely arbitrary thresholds, let me rejoice about my 256th "nice answer" badge.
20:34
@ThomasPornin Nice! You should get a badge for that.
I like arbitrary thresholds. They keep me motivated.
@ThomasPornin Is there a badge that you don't have?
@DavidFreitag Yes. For instance, all of the badges that have not yet been awarded to any user on this site.
@DavidFreitag Oh yes. For instance all the badges for questions: since I never asked any question.
Also, I don't have "peer pressure"
I don't yield to pressure.
Man, sometimes i really love linux. Like when i plug an obscure device from the early '90s in and it already has drivers for it.
@DavidFreitag a windows enthusiast would retort that he cares more about devices from the early '10s
20:48
@Gilles Well, i am a windows user, so... theres that... I would retort that the person likely doesn't work in IT for a very small company that uses technology largely based on stuff from the mid '80s.
@Gilles You have to find joy in the small things when you're using an OS cobbled together by hobbyists in their spare time.
Mmh, our 40th most used tag is and has 140 questions. When the top 40 tags all have at least 200 questions, the "generalist" badge will be open (and I shall get it immediately).
@ThomasPornin but will you be the first to get it?
IIRC they are awarded in order of user ID
@Gilles At least @Rory (the Ancient) will get it too, and he has a lower user ID (as is befitting).
haha, virtualbox has a setting called "Promiscuous Mode".
20:58
@DavidFreitag how is this remarkable?

A couple of months ago, we started soliciting applications for a Community Manager candidate fluent in Portuguese and English. Why? Well, as Jay wrote:

…We’ve long had a backlog of proposals in Area 51 for sites that are (non-english) language specific, and as we continue to work on localization, we need to start building up the community team with individuals who speak languages that are native to a large number of potential users…

I’m happy to announce that Gabe Koscky stepped up to fill this role. …

@Gilles I said that before realizing that it was a common setting for a virtual NIC. Made me wonder why i would want to make my VM suddenly become very sexually active.

Q: Is it possible to decrypt an SSL connection (short of bruteforcing)?

bobbybeeI'm trying to reverse-engineer a protocol (it's for a game whose server's are closing soon). I have two things: 1) the binary for the program 2) a packet dump from Wireshark (I am still able to get another dump, if needed). Now, the protocol, from what I can see from the dumps, is TLS/SSL (not su...
