I've got my own sockpuppet now yeeey
@Simon I doubt you really want to start from scratch and even write your own sockets and somesuch. It's a major pain in the behind trust me, I've been doing such stuff some 10 years ago and I never wanna go back. And not to even mention all the protocols. It's OK to use frameworks, saves you all the trouble. Just make sure you use one that allows you fine grain control (access to its guts) when you need it.
@LucasKauffman What's its name ?
@ThomasPornin It's also an animal!
@LucasKauffman It it destined to accumulate rep, or is it just for fun, or what ?
@ThomasPornin It's destined for fun and for accumulating rep when my other account has repcapped
20:13
@LucasKauffman An overflowpuppet, then
@Simon Problems with frameworks begin when you start using them for stuff they haven't really been tested for. I can give you one example from here on webapp2 that hasn't been properly answered still, because I guess everyone is waiting for me to learn Python better? Or it just involves too much effort and nobody bothered? LOL
and obviously upvoting all of my own questions HAHAHAHA
no because then I will probably get banned :P
@LucasKauffman Well, technically, Bear #2 has upvoted all the questions of Bear #1 on Sec.SE.
@ThomasPornin really?
@LucasKauffman Well, technically, Bear #2 has upvoted all the questions of Bear #1 on Sec.SE.

technically?
and practically?
Holas senor bear

@RoryMcCune yea, we've been joking about that all day :D
too bad the press found out we wanted to keep that for the next advisory team meeting :P
@LlamadelRey that's the "pyramid" of Machu Picchu behind you in your gravatar?
20:19
@TildalWave Este es only a small part of the machu pichu
@LlamadelRey Barrio Sagrado?
It is yes
I met my companero @LucasKauffman on there
@LucasKauffman Well, yes. Bear #1 has written exactly zero question in Sec.SE.
@ThomasPornin aha
20:24
@TildalWave Oy cabron, I am not Alpaca, I am Llama
@LlamadelRey lo siento :(

@Lucas Anything from PasswordBox?
I've just received an email from them
@Adnan nope
@LucasKauffman Wanna see it?
Personally, I didn't understand much
@Everybody else. Context:

Q: Client-side encryption, but cloud service can still decrypt data in the event of a death? Is this possible?

MalloryI've been worried about this password manager, PasswordBox that seems to be gathering quite a bit of steam lately. They seem to have raised VC funding and are offering a free password management and storage tool. Their team does not seem to have extensive crypto experience. What really worries ...

@Adnan how can they make sure it's not done before he died?
I mean you have the key pair
21:04
@LucasKauffman I have no idea.
21:51
The new Hangout app is really pissing me off. Not only is it much less desirable as a GoogleTalk app than Talk was, but since then my battery life has gotten terrible and the phone is often unresponsively sluggish.
@ScottPack Really? I haven't noticed much difference. Don't really use it on my phone though, just my Nexus and desktop.
Although I mostly still use the Google Talk app on my desktop.
Haven't notices any adversities on the Nexus though.
22:17
It doesn't actually give any online indication. That's the biggest downfall.
As far as using it goes sometimes it can take up to a minute for the keyboard to actually pop up.
@ScottPack Ah, yes, that is uber-annoying.
@ScottPack Ok, that's a problem I haven't seen. And yeah, that would make it next to useless.
It gets more annoying when it's running in the background and makes everything else unusably slow.
@ScottPack I reverted back to GT
@TildalWave Is there any magic to that or can I just uninstall the update?
@ScottPack no magic, uninstall the update and that's it... and it didn't bother me yet with the update again, but I'm not sure if that's something it's supposed to keep track of, or just my phone didn't yet check for updates
22:25
Sounds like a wiener!
how do I force it to check for updates now?
It should show up in the Play store if you go to the my apps bit
@ScottPack that's something I never got actually... if it prompts me for updates, I have that bit "my installs" or whatever there (which is easy to get out of by mistake and difficult to get back into), but I don't see it if I run Play Store on its own
oh doh found it :)
tsk tsk
yup Hangouts is in the updates queue... can I disable it from there somehow?
22:29
That I do not know.
@ScottPack man I touch my phone maybe 2 times per day + whatever calls I make / get... I hate the damn thingies they're too fiddly
It also looks like I can't selectively uninstall updates. It's either revert to factory or not.
@ScottPack I had the "uninstall update" option in my Apps list... try first stopping it in running processes if you're in Android 4+
or cached
@TildalWave Oh, I have that option as well. It just reverts it back to the original version that was installed.
So I can't revert back to most recent version that was still Talk.
@ScottPack then I guess you didn't have any versions in between... actually, I don't recall it ever updated either
tho what I recall and what it actually happened might be a great deal apart :)
22:40
@TildalWave The pop up said "All versions and revert back to factory defaults".
Sucker
@ScottPack hmm no that wasn't what it asked me, just the usual "are you sure you want to remove this update" or something along those lines
the bastards are all laughing
22:56
@TildalWave Meh yeah, I'll give it a try.
23:50
@TildalWave Yeah, I just did it on both our phones. It removed all the updates to that app, not just the most recent.
Here we go, let's procrastinate maths to finally learn some Rails!
Oh god, don't tell me that I should do Python instead?
