I’ve read sandhya part from shiva purana but not him telling Daksha that he wants lord shiva to cry for stri sukha. How will you justify timeline for ekadasha rudranis then? What is sandhya and avasthas? Doesn’t this portray brahmaji as not very sensible? — Adiyarkku 2 hours ago
@Adiyarkku Again portraying brahmaji as not very sensible is your understanding. But Shiva Purana is not doing that. Brahmaji and Sandhya part brings the concept of phases in a human life span. The way Brahmaji developed kAmovAsana for a woman who just took birth means, one shouldn't developed that for a girl/woman until she reaches yovan avastha. So in later episode Sandhya ji does penance to receive grace of Shiva ask him the same thing as one of boons/blessings.
See if we put our human logic, then it will be difficult to understand hidden meaning.
About ekadasha rudranis, I don't know. May be @অনু can add here. As he/she studied Shiva Purana already.
I am still at yuddha khanda, rudra samhita.

Q: If Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma are a trinity, if Shiva decides to destroy the universe at any moment, doesn't that mean the others fail in their duty?

Indian Nationalist MappingIf Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma are a trinity, if Shiva decides to destroy the universe at any moment, doesn't that mean the others fail in their duties and therefore can't be god? I saw this argument against Hinduism on a Muslim apologist video.

@TheLittleNaruto @TheLittleNaruto please do use 'he' while referring to me the next time. Shiva Purana doesn't has any mention of the Rudranis' name. I found it in the Brahmavaivartapurāṇa : Brahmakhaṇḍa : Chapter9 . The names are Kalā, Kalavatī, Kāṣṭhā, Kālikā, Kalahapriyā, Kandalī, Bhiṣaṇā, Rāsnā, Pramocā, Bhūṣaṇa & Śukī.
09:55
@TheLittleNaruto oooooh I see.
How come you started taking interest in Shiva Purana?
What were you saying about sandhya and the avasthas?
@অনু what is their origin like?

@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard lol
@Adiyarkku So when this incident happens, Being a chaste woman, Sandhya Devi feels ashamed of her existence and then she decides to do penance. Then she goes to one mountain(forgot the name lol), but doesn't know the vidhi. Then rishi Vashishth visits her and tells her the method of penance. Then she starts performing penance and worship Shiva. Shiva appears in front of her and ask her what she wants.
She tells the story and says that she doesn't want to be in this body as this body is now kalankit. She wants to burn this body and She also asks Shiva to divide the human life in 4 phases i.e. Shishu Avastha, Kaumarya Avastha, Yovana Avastha and Vridha Avastha. Only yovana avastha should be for kAma. This way only at certain phase one would develop that kAma.
Then Shiva says, "Tathastu" and asks her to jump into Medhatithi's fire. She was then born as Medhatithi's daughter and married Vasishtha.
@Adiyarkku Because new office location is very far. And it takes 2 hours to reach office. So I play the audiobook[Hindi version] on my car's infotainment system. That way I don't feel like wasting time in traffic. :D
Audio Book Link: Part 1 Part 2 (If you're interested. :-) )
@অনু Sure thing. :)
So @PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard What made you to join this chat? :)
Are you interested in Hinduism ?
Would be good to have more users on our site.
BTW @Adiyarkku Medhatithi was a king performing yajna nearby where devi Sandhya was performing penance.

@Adiyarkku I can't recall the source, but when Kālāgnirudra emerged from Brahmā's anger, he was in the form of Ardhanāriśvara. When urged by Brahmā to engage in procreation, he divided himself into 2 parts. His male part became his complete male form, while the female part became his wife Rudrāṇī/Kālarātrī. The complete male part in turn generated the 11 Rudras while Kālaratrī created the 11 Rudrāṇīs. The progeny of these 11 Rudras & their spouses are the pramathas of Mahādeva.
@TheLittleNaruto great 👍👍👍
@TheLittleNaruto 👍
@TheLittleNaruto again great 👍
Take the train if it takes so long. Or take Work from home
@অনু what? This is exactly what I thought while composing my question
But the answerer said that shiva is not born as Ardhanarishvara he is born as a bachelor
See second comment by Shiva Charana Vishnu Dasa for reference: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/148379/…
@TheLittleNaruto I've seen our dear king here and decided to look what you do there. Bows ;) Thanks for asking!

@Adiyarkku This confusion is very natural to occur.
Both Kālāgnirudra (the Destroyer of the Cosmos, Regent of NE corner, resides in Rudraloka situated at the NE corner of Svarga, whose wife is Kālarātrī, the embodiment of the Destructive Power) & Sadāśiva (who is indifferent from Viṣṇu, progenitor of the Āgamas, whose wife is Pārvatī, the incarnation of Ādyāśakti who manifested as the daughter of Himavān, & father to Gāṇeṣa & Skanda, whose abode Śivaloka is situated above that of Brahmā's) are one & same in ESSENCE, not in person
Kālāgnirudra is completely of Tamoguṇa while Sadāśiva is Trīguṇātīta.
Kālāgnirudra is propitiated by the 10-lettered Rudra mantra & the Tvaritarudra mantra while Sadāśiva is propitiated by a myriad of mantras, chief among them being the celebrated Pañcākṣarī.
It is Sadāśiva who was a bachelor when He manifested out of the fiery pillar, while Kālāgnirudra who manifested out of Brahma's anger, was in the form of Ardhanāriśvara.
While discussing on the forms of the dikpālas, Skandapurāṇa : Vaiṣṇava khaṇḍa : Vāsudevamāhātmya : Chapter 27 mentions this androgynous form of Kālāgnirudra. This confusion persists due to the statement of Viṣṇupurāṇa that the Rudra who manifested out of Brahmā's anger married Satī.
Vaiṣṇava texts deny the Trigunātītatva of Rudra (as described in the Śivapurāṇa) & since the ephitets of Rudra have also been used to describe Sadāśiva (similar to how ephitets of the avatāras are used to describe Viṣṇu), this creates further confusion.

@TheLittleNaruto - Are mods able to edit the tour? (Asking because I have a feature-req, but I don't want to post it on meta if it's impossible to actually implement.)
@CDR not sure, have to check. What is it you want to change?
@Adiyarkku there is no train to office. We have 2 days/week WFO, rest 3 days are WFH.

I feel like saying "Focus on questions about an actual problem you have faced." encourages personal advice questions.
And the second one?
@CDR Looks like it was copied as it is from SO. Let me check once.
So I am right...

CDR
@TheLittleNaruto - the second one I circled because it's kind of a contradiction
I probably am overthinking this.
@CDR No you are right. Better way is to raise a meta, let others also think over this.

Q: Should we remove "Focus on questions about an actual problem you have faced" from the tour?

CDRThe Tour has a useful section about what sorts of questions new users should be asking: In my opinion, saying "Focus on questions about an actual problem you have faced." would encourage personal advice questions, which are not allowed on the site. The tour itself says that such questions are of...

@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Welcome. How did you join here? :)
@Pandya Hello! I saw our kindest king here. :)
@CDR No, mods can't... Let me confirm
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard who is he?
@Pandya TheLittleNaruto, the greatest kindest undefeated king.
@TheLittleNaruto I would participate, but I'm sorry, I don't know Hinduism at all :(
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard ok
Btw, are you a ligux user?
Yes, I am The Linux Wizard.
15:57
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Which distro?
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Ok. Using Linux since beginning or switched from Windows?
@Pandya Switched from Windows
So I did some testing of Windows and I've accidentally removed the only admin in the system. Then I've reinstalled Windows... but... I have readed about Linux back then — and the long journey started!
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard how many years?
@Pandya even less than year, approximately 10 months.
16:03
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Ohk
Have you heard about GNU?
@CDR Mods can change "Ask about" and "Don't ask about" sections but left portion is standard to all sites
@PetəíŕdTheLinuxWizard Nice. I use Debian btw.
