Q: What is yoga samadhi?

user2225190what an yoga samadhi means? Do we still have people who are capable of doing yoga samadhi? Yoga samadhi means the person can go to the samadhi on a prechosen date? and how much time it takes to go to that state? Is it not similar to Jeeva Samadhi. Jeeva samadhi means where a person lively goes ...

@TheLittleNaruto how should one highlight need for better answers for this question ?hinduism.stackexchange.com/questions/708/… . the top voted answer is not at all from an authoritative source. If i post the question again then it will be closed as duplicate. @TheLittleNaruto

10:29 AM
@Carmensandiego Two ways: 1. By editing 2. By offering bounty rwp
In both ways the question will start showing on home feed
And then an expert can see and post an answer.
@Carmensandiego Also please note that, that question was asked at the initial stage of the site. So answer may not be upto the mark and also not from authentic sources.
That is expected considering the current phase of the site when the question was posted.
Did i answer your question? @Carmensandiego

@Pandya thanks for the bounty reputation 😁🙏
Hi naruto

10:50 AM
@Archit Btw, you may want to answer:

Q: Which texts have you read?

Amit SaxenaI asked a couple of questions on Nyaya and Vaisheshika. I did not receive any answers, I presume because no one on here has read those texts yet. Hence, I ask this question, as I believe it will give everyone an idea on what questions are more likely to be answered and what questions to ask.

@Archit Hi Archit kid
@Archit You deserve it. That answer is really impressive. Good 👍👍

Q: what happened when the devas asked who are you to lord shiva

juztcodeThe shiva gita has the following slokas:

@TheLittleNaruto thanks🙏 but itna Nahin ha😂😂
@Pandya what do I say? I’m currently reading the first book ever - Shri Ramacharitmanas
That’s all not read any others

@Archit Ok. No problem :)

2:23 PM
@Pandya sorry
Small question - isn’t Wikipedia not an authentic source?

@Archit Not always.

A: Can we add a citation banner for answers that rely solely on Wikipedia?

Bhargav RaoWikipedia is actually a tertiary source of information and are not meant to be used for research. Remember that Wikipedia cites most of its sources, so instead of using a link to Wikipedia, the author can edit their post to include a link to the original source. However, there are enough users ...

@Archit Btw, This would be useful to find resources.

@TheLittleNaruto yes. You did. Thanks . Can't believe how easy it was to get repped back then 🙂

2:40 PM
@Archit Not all freely editable sites are reliable :)
(unrelated) I was wondering is there any mention of Kalki using any modern weapon? For example, laser weapons?
Many things which seems "modern" were present in previous Yugas too. For example, Pushpak Vimaan (if we consider flying objects, such as airplane).
Does any scripture mention electronics or predicted them?

@Pandya yes this makes sense
@Pandya thank you 😊
Actually I was asking because I was trying to explain this to someone in the comments but then I thought probably I’m wrong
Would’ve @ you @Pandya in the comments
@Kulfy 👍👍

2:55 PM
@Archit where?

3:24 PM
so hot

@TheLittleNaruto really nice answer

@Carmensandiego :-)
@Archit haha you should learn to trust yourself. ;-)
@Kulfy Search on main site, if you don't find, we encourage you to ask this question. :-)
@Archit That's Tezz's answer. He compiles really well. :-)
@CaptainBohemian uhm?
@CaptainBohemian Welcome to Hinduism SE chatroom btw :-)

I am not an Indian.

So? Does it have anything to do with "welcoming you" ?
:-)

i cant believe SSR committed suicide. And then i searched on HSE on what scriptures say. And it seems as per GP soul turns into ghost ?

3:38 PM
GP?

Garuda Purana

Oh Man! I have to learn these. haha!
Yeah possible!
Because there was the unfulfillment of desires which led to commit suicide

@TheLittleNaruto no, I thought only Indians come here.

@CaptainBohemian This is not an Indian site lol

but where does the spirit go ?roam earth ? or does it goto yamaloka

3:42 PM
As per scripture, it stays around the dead body because of attachment, that's why dead body has to be burnt.

i think its mostly indians here. could only make out one non indian poster. ybilite rski ? she seemed obsessed with forcing Aryan invasion theory upon others
so what happens to spirit after body is burned (talking about suicide victim here)
?

@Carmensandiego It'll stay around a while.
You may want to call it a ghost until it gets into another body

@TheLittleNaruto possible. will try to look up more information in Garuda Purana

There are other factors too like what is committer's sanchit karma

you mean prarabdha karma

3:46 PM
good or bad
@Carmensandiego Yeah

got it

Our Sanskara plays good role when one person dies.
After 10/12 days A bhoja to brahmins and to the friends/relatives is organized so that soul would get rid of attachment ASAP.

yeah , but its weird that incase of suicide the family members are not required to do anything as they dont get "impure"

yeah it would be weird, I agree.
There is also a tradition that until bhoja all family people consider themselves ashubha and hence home temple is kept closed
no worshiping happen during these days

@TheLittleNaruto yes. no worship etc.

3:54 PM
@Carmensandiego But do you know, this practice doesn't apply when an initiated one dies?

initiated ? u mean twice-born ?

as in dIkshA-prApta
@CaptainBohemian If I may ask, where are you from? :)

ok . so someone undergone upanayanam but not yet completed education ?

@Carmensandiego including those too.
DIkshA process is not just any normal process

so when shudra dies , again nothing is applicable ?

3:58 PM
In this process, Devatas are installed on limbs.
So basically the body itself becomes devata and not ashubha
@Carmensandiego Can't comment! Depends on what you meant when you say "Sudras"

someone who doesnt undergo vedic education

Okay! Understood! See we can not apply similar concept nowadays what we had back then.
Because many change in our culture because of foreign invasions

yeah, we can't apply the same concepts. but i dont think scriptures change with times. perhaps what we are doing today is not correct

There are many schools which initiates one person whose upanayana sanskar is not done.
@Carmensandiego 100% agree there.
Acharya says, in order to get initiated into any other sAdhanA, first thing one should undergo is Upanayana sanskara
without that, it may not work as expected.

true. makes sense
alright. dinner time. speak to you later! see ya

4:06 PM

A: Why Devi Bhagavata Purana, being a Purana for feminine deity, insults women?

Raaj VyavasthaIt does not insult women in any way. It only tells the truth. "They can never understand that the women can never be the source of pleasure; they are the source of all miseries" - There is true and similar things are said repeatedly in every single class of Hindu scripture. "Creator has made wo...

As in it’s been answered and accepted but there’s some new contradictory answers

@Archit Oh
You deserve my downvote buddy! :)
@Kulfy Hey! When can we vote for phase 1?
@CaptainBohemian Great! So any interest in Hinduism? :)
@Archit Good! We should always upvote a quality answer to support the efforts made by a user.

I’ve flagged it for not an answer
@TheLittleNaruto ya I always do for example the other two answers as well as the question for this one I upvoted they’ve explained very well

@TheLittleNaruto After 2 am. There is no phase 1. We got only 8 candidates so far.

6:11 PM
@Archit It doesn't need to be flagged as not an answer since it is providing sources. we can downvote if we disagree.

@Kulfy Votes?

@Kulfy Great! My votes are definitely for you and @Zanna :)

Okay

You guys will make a good mods.
@Archit There is an election going on Ask Ubuntu Stackexchange site.

@Kulfy haha! you don't have to, you guys are deserving :P

@Archit Moderator elections are underway on Ask Ubuntu

Even i downvoted it

but hey you can still give me some bribe, I won;t mind :P

@TheLittleNaruto Thanks :)

@Kulfy people elect moderators?

6:13 PM
@TheLittleNaruto I don't actually know what it is.

@Archit Yeah. Democracy :)

Wah

@Archit We will have elections too when we will graduate as a site.

@TheLittleNaruto Gives dependency errors :P

6:14 PM
What’s ask Ubuntu exactly?
@TheLittleNaruto meaning?
Aren’t we a site?

@Archit Ubuntu is an Operating system like Windows.

@TheLittleNaruto Like windows 😒😒

@Kulfy 😂😂

@Archit Ubuntu is Linux

Oh 😂
They changed the name?

6:16 PM
@Kulfy @Archit is a CA.
@Archit We are currently in public Beta phase.
final phase is graduation.
@CaptainBohemian As per English language, it's a religion.

@TheLittleNaruto thanks! and thank you for the comment on my nomination <3

@Zanna Sure thing ! If I'll be awake till 2 AM, I am gonna vote tonight or will do tomorrow lol

@TheLittleNaruto I thought we passed the phase

Tell me😂

they give us a week, so sleep well!

I’m yet to qualify

@Zanna Nice!
@Archit You'll qualify
btw @Zanna all good?

6:21 PM
Are you preparing for CA?

Prospects seem bleaker than thought
@Kulfy yes
They’ve postponed and not postponed exams due to Corona
Meaning they’ve given an option for those who want to opt out

I see. Best of luck. I hope you'll make in 1st attempt.

Thank you
Anyway I’m giving half and half not the entire thing

@Kulfy Have you started working?

If they would’ve kept in November I would’ve given he entire thing
@Kulfy what are you doing?

6:23 PM
@Archit Graduated with National Degree (cc @TheLittleNaruto)
@TheLittleNaruto I completed my internship. Got back to my hometown 2 weeks ago. And now my internship resumed without pay -_-

@Kulfy Which company?

Cognizant

@Kulfy Bangalore?

Nope. Pune

@Kulfy Hmm okay! great! Hope you're liking the work.

6:26 PM
Yeah. I was working on Full Stack Engineering. Though I have no interest in front-end.

Graduated in hardware or software?

Software :)

Nice
Was just telling Naruto few days back one of my friends is also doing software engineering

On a side note, I'm little concerned with the topicality of the chatroom (cc @TheLittleNaruto)

Back to Hinduism it is
Have you’ll visited any teertha
@Kulfy @TheLittleNaruto don’t you think 10 questions a day requirement for graduation and all is little too much?

6:38 PM
@Archit Why?
If a site has 5000+ regular visitors, then 10 questions per day is not too much

Ya but nowadays a lot in ours don’t vote and all also they ignore even good questions and answers
Though I agree nowadays maximum questions are sub standard
Apparently we’ve run out of questions 😂

@Archit Right!
@Archit There will always be questions

I was thinking of creating something in meta but then I was like chuck it

A seeker without questions is not a seeker
;-)

@TheLittleNaruto point

6:43 PM
@Archit meta participation is also needed for a healthy site

But now I can’t go and complIn about lack of exercising votes na😂

@Zanna and @Kulfy can explain better since they're going to be a moderator soon and they have already enough knowledge about how this site functions.

Please

@Archit hah true
Okay! I'll sleep now. Will see ya tomorrow :)

Goodnight even I’m going off
@Kulfy goodnight

6:58 PM
@Kulfy oh you got home and escaped the interminable sambar
@TheLittleNaruto yesss everything is good apart from corona
Chennai getting 2000 new cases per day
Stores reopened a couple of weeks ago - even managed to post a card to my dad for Father's Day. Now going back to full lockdown. Just makes it hard to buy food etc
But anyway I'm very happy

Q: Is Swami Vivekananda a Jivan Mukta according to the following?

hanugmIs it true that Swami Vivekananda was a Jivan Mukta? I am asking the answer from anyone of the three sources: words of Vivekananda, words of his guru RamaKrishna paramahamsa and (prophecy by) scriptures.
