@RakeshJoshi Lord Ganesha, son of Shiva and Parvati, with elephant head is not seen in Vedas. There are mantras for "ganapati" but this is another name for either Agni, Indra or Brhaspati. It is used in the literal meaning of "leader of the groups" i.e. "leader of the people". Of course, in post-Vedic times, after Ganesh became popular, those ganapati mantras were reinterpreted to refer to the elephant-head god Ganesha.

Q: Who are Pandavas

SMNThis question was asked by many political speakers in TN, just writing it here, if one could answer. None of the Kuntis sons are born for Pandu. Karna born to Sun, Yudishtra born to Dharm, and so on. If none of them are born to Pandu, how come they are Pandavas and how do they even get rights to ...

Q: What is Nilavanti or Neelavanti granth? What is so special about it?

WitVaultI recently read about Nilavanti { Neelavanti } book just a description of it. Says it was a rare book not printed just written on a metal plate that too lost these days. It had recipes for alchemy, medicines for terminal diseases, and ways to interpret the language of birds, animals and other int...

Q: What should our chatroom name be?

Ankit SharmaCurrently, our main chatroom name is "Hinduism". Are we going to stick with it? If not, what should we change it to? Note: Feel free to add your chatroom name suggestions as answers.

You can provide feedback here ^^

@Pandya Hmm so there was already a thread

Or start new discussion on meta

Yeah I'll try to compose one nice feedback
Grrrrrrrr
IMO we should represent Sanatana as it IS. And not from the perspective of the people who were not actually followers of Dharma.
The name Sanatana itself is meaningful and definitive while the name "Hinduism" has no related meaning.

@TheLittleNaruto: Sanatana Dharma , a Good name. Good luck

Thanks
@srimannarayanakv You may want to compose an answer to support me lol

Yes! shared link above.

@TheLittleNaruto - Please dont. As it is Hindutva has been given a -ve connotation. IMO Hindutva is just resilience shown by practitioners of Hinduism. And there is a fight to make it more positive. Now if we replace Hinduism (even if correct), the signal sent out will be that we are distancing ourselves from Hinduism and talking just esoteric stuff

@Carmensandiego Hmm!

Hinduism ok

5:25 PM
Also the Uttarakhand, where Shree Ram asked mata Sita to go through agnipariksha is not part of Valmiki Ramayan!! @RamAbloh have you read any such in VR ?

5:37 PM
So, if one undertakes a cursory glance of Ramayan, this episode clearly emerges as a latter day adulteration which may have fuelled many debates, groupism, anti-Hindu mindset, anti-woman mindset, conversions and insults thrown upon character of Ram. However, the fact remains that the very basis for all this is dubious.

To sum up:

Following verses are clear adulterations:

Chapter 114: Verse 28 onwards, except last verse

Chapter 115: Verse 15 onwards

Chapters 116 and 117

Chapter 118: Except last verse

How about customizing "citation-needed" post notice to include official policy and useful resources post?

@TheLittleNaruto well, that mantra comes in Rig Veda 2.23.1 and addressed to Brhaspati
for example, RV 10.112.9: नि षु सीद गणपते गणेषु त्वामाहुर्विप्रतमं कवीनां न ऋते त्वत्क्रियते किं चनारे महामर्कं मघवन् चित्रमर्च ॥ is addressed to Indra, but these days, it is recited for Ganesha.
@TheLittleNaruto I'm ok with either Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma. In today's world, the two terms are completely synonymous... but maybe "Hinduism" is better known ☺
@RakeshJoshi I have not focused on the specific sections recently... but I agree that Uttarakanda is most likely a late addition with many medieval interpolations... the agnipariksha episode does not fall into the theme of the remaining story... if Rama suspected Sita so much, he would not have gone through so much trouble trying to rescue her... he could have married another princess

11:19 PM
@TheLittleNaruto Yeah, why not. Step 2: Change mode of communication in this chatroom to strictly Sanskrit in Devanagari script. Step 3: Change the whole site to Sanskrit in Devanagari script (let's not use Western scripts like IAST, HK, etc. - since these are created by Western Indologists, so obviously they must be bad), so questions, comments and answers will be in Sanskrit. Unless we create rules like these, Hindus cannot bring back the glory days of the past!
Step 4: Change the site URL also to sanatanadharma.stackexchange.com (preferably in Devanagari script).

Step 5: Propose a feature request to SE to penalize anyone conversing in English in HSE chat rooms and main/meta sites.

Please add any more I may have missed.
