Is there ... a difference between "white" and "european" as StackOverflow's dev survey lists them as separate options

5:16 AM
@belkarx Americans!
@CaffeineAddiction I use sublime text when I can 😁

lol, i havnt used Sublime in years. Switched to VSCode for pretty much everything
use rmate and port forwarding to open shit remotely in VSCode rather than use Vim or Nano on remote sessions

@JourneymanGeek But ... "white" Americans are generally (I can't think of any counter-exampes) European by ethnicity, right?

Since when did white mean American?
Are they saying Swedes are non-white?
@belkarx I'd wager that the selections they provided were used to influence the results in order to make them look more inclusive (or less inclusive, depending on whether they need an excuse to add some new initiative to placate shareholders).

Any tips for a first-timer at DEFCON?

@belkarx Don't use a mobile phone. Bring a notepad to take notes.
Bring water. Lots of water. It's hot and you'll get thirsty.
Also their website has a lot of really good "first time advice".

Got it, thanks

@belkarx And always assume that it'll take 10 to 20 minutes to get from point A to point B, so if you're going to talks, make sure consecutive talks are in the same room, otherwise you might not make it (e.g. an 11:30-12:30 talk in room A and a 12:30 to 1:30 in room B is probably out of the question).

@forest is going to parties recommended? Also, from what I understand, the DEFCON website just has dumps of all of the talks and villages in their forums, and you go through beforehand and make a schedule of what you want to do?
