@reed Is it European horror that is slowly building up tension or is it american horror that has 50 jumpscares in the first act?

Q: How to extract useful information from a extensive output?

user197536~$ sudo nmap -dd -A -6 -T5 --open wwww.url_site.com That gives an output of almost 2000 lines. So, from a more experienced user: what should I look for? My intention was to find open ports with vulnerable services. dd - I assume that debugging was make it easier to understand A - It seems useful ...

What the fuck is with those people?
The guy is like "hey I ran nmap -dd for lots of debug output and now there's too much output"

@MechMK1, it's like... backups? We don't have backups. What do you mean we don't have backups? Look here. Nothing. There? Oh, here they are. Restore. Hmm, it doesn't work. And everything was overwritten. What do you mean... restore it again. Restore from what? Look there. Where? Call Dave. Dave who? Oh, Dave... Dave doesn't answer the phone....
So the answer is "it slowly builds up tension"
until you reach the point where everybody is screaming and running and there's blood on the floor

@MechMK1 OP even thought nmap was a vulnerability scanner...

@ThoriumBR I mean you can kind-of misuse it for that with some NSE scripts
There are some that check for heartbleed or old TLS versions
And I think there even is one for ETERNALBLUE

2:31 PM
but those are addons, not the core funcionality
some people use postscript to create a webserver, but that wasn't the intended function of postscript...

@ThoriumBR Computers were a mistake. Teaching sand to think was a mistake.
I want to move to the country side and become a farmer. Sure, it's hard work, but at least I won't have to deal with people writing PostScript Web Servers

@MechMK1 Or bulletin boards with assembly...

@ConorMancone It's all dark magic
You know, I used to laugh at Varg for living in a small hut in the forest, growing his own food and just living far away from everyone else

Man, now I can't find it... but there was totally someone who made a bulletin board in assembly just for lols - totally worked too

The older I get, the more I actually envy him

3:16 PM
pshttpd: www.pugo.org/project/pshttpd/
just for lulz too...
when I search for "bulletin board assembly" all I got are pinterest links... and etsy, and so on...

Oh fuck yeah, I want to buy a self-knitted sweater on etsy
I'd love to interview some Trump voters and some Hillary voters from 2016 and just want to know how they'd judge 2016 - 2020.

3:36 PM
Wouldn't that be predictable?

Not necessarily. Especially for Trump voters, questions like "Did Trump fulfill your expectations?" is quite up in the air
If yes, ask "What are your expectations for Biden?"
If no, "Why not? What do you think were the reasons for that?"

Yeah, on second thought, there were some who voted Trump because they hated Hillary and there were some who voted Trump because TRUMP IS GOING TO DRAIN THE SWAMP

I probably said this before, but my wife almost murdered me for not voting for Trump in 2016. Not because she liked Trump, but because she was genuinely terrified of Hillary. We lived in a swing state too. If it had gone Hillary, she may not have ever forgiven me...

Question from the other side of the pond: why did Trump get so many votes if everybody seems to hate him and he talks bullshit every time he opens his mouth? (that's at least the impression I get from the media here, like, a total idiot, arrogant, annoying, racist, etc.)
I mean, so many votes now, not in the first election

Everybody seems to hate him, but that is not necessarily representative of the general population

or maybe a lot of people vote for him even if they know he's an idiot, just because they actually agree with most of his politics (or are against the opponent's politics). It's like Berlusconi in my country: he's basically a criminal (tax evasion, fraud, etc.) but as long as he represented "the right-wing party", people would still vote for him.

There are groups of the population that are still genuinely terrified of Biden/Obama/Hillary/AOC/Harris/Warren/Pelosi/Reid
Yeah, liking the political position but hating the personality is also reason
Honestly, with the way things are these days, if you don't actually know somebody on "the other side", it can be hard to fathom how any sane human could support the other side's politicians

Too broad question of the week?

over-paranoid question of the week?

lol, part of me wants to start responding to these questions with "Your firmware is probably hacked, throw out all your devices and buy new ones."

That's cruel...

It would be, which is why I'm definitely not going to, but there isn't much to do to help people in these circumstances, so I have to come up with some way to entertain myself...

Q: Serious issue with both iphone and windows computer

christian williamsI have serious security issues with both my laptop and iphone. I am absolutely sure they have been both cloned and remotely controlled as a minimum and would like for any manuals, reading literature to update myself on cyber security. Is it possible that I am on a different intranet, no access to...

Mech asked a question about this a long time ago on a separate sister site...

Q: How to help people who may suffer from Paranoia?

MechMK1I am a very active member of the Information Security Stack Exchange site. Every now and then, I come across people who I believe may suffer from paranoia. They believe that "someone" is out to get them, and use techno-babble to make themselves sound legitimate. Here is an example post: How to p...
