@VipulNair I wouldn't say it's wrong, but in my opinion, it doesn't really go into detail. If your answer boils down to "It can't", then you could at least provide a more detailled explanation.
Anyone of you guys into lockpicking? Seems off-topic here, but I guess hackers are the best guys to ask

@MechMK1 i understand.Thank u
@MechMK1 join the many hats club on discrord. They have a locksport channel where people discuss lock picking

Sorry, I'm not a discord person
But thanks for the advice

@MechMK1 np.

8:34 AM
Do you have any lockpicking experience?

@forest About keylogin on Windows (XP to 10), Tavis Ormandy had recently something to say on the subject: googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2019/08/down-rabbit-hole.html
The associated tooling is available here: github.com/taviso/ctftool
Still not patched by Microsoft, I guess because they have no idea how to fix it properly without breaking compatibility of most applications.

I remember reading that blog
Insane, seriously
You can really tell how much old baggage Windows is carrying along

(Also, UAC and UIPI are not security boundaries.)

8:54 AM
Hey guys. There is a practical question you might really like to think about, in my post: security.stackexchange.com/questions/215552/…. Would be great if someone tell the answer. hug you

9:30 AM
@Croll I am a bit unsure about that "question", if it is a question at all
I don't really see a question in it, to be honest
You're describing a situation, and it's unclear to me how it is security-related

9:47 AM
Have you ever heard about penetration testing web applications?

@Croll You are in the DMZ. You could as well ask us if we heard about computers. Please skip formalities and directly ask your final question.

Lol
I am just saying
I dont care

You don't really seem interested in receiving constructive criticism of your question, or in any kind of discourse

If you don't care, why do you ask? If that was a rhetorical question, what was your point? From what I can see here and in the comments on your question on Sec.SE, the only thing you have achieved so far is to antagonize people.

To me, it seems a lot like you just want an answer here, now that your question is put on hold and after you harassed the mods a bit for putting it on hold

10:11 AM
Hi MechMK1, i read secstackexchange a lot and i see you are actually helpful to many questions and are competent. But i do not really understand why are you even talking to me directly such things, since i never harassed any of mods, and never violated any rules,
i am here now only because i am curious about security.stackexchange.com/users/6253 and how is behaving inadequate in overall. Maybe i am worried what happens to stack exchange because of such people. I am not asking anyone <here> to answer my question because you are simply too lazy. It is possible, actually, that question will be reopened in future. I really wish we've had anything other to discus here, and what a nightmare to discuss personalities - exactly what you did just now.

10:25 AM
@Croll I am not judging you as a person, nor your intentions or your competence as a pentester. I am judging the actions you are taking in this specific case.

Your question is just not a very good one. It is not primarily security related, but rather related to algorithms and optimization. Your question was put on hold, with the explanation that it's not about information security.

Instead of re-writing your question to actually focus on information security, you tried to evade the suspension by asking for answers in the DMZ. Further, you harassed @schroeder, who is usually quite patient,

10:40 AM
Quite pointless to discuss wether question is off-topic or on-topic (information security) becuase, as you could notice, the mechanism to determine whether it is or not is flawed.
@MechMK1 i am afraid there is not enough people to even legitimately say what is off-topic and on-topic on this stack exchange, thus discussing mod behavior is pointless
I hope i answered your concernes as i could. Please realize that i am replying, not saying that is what i want to talk about here.

I tend to disagree with you on the fact that security.se is flawed. Many many people seem to have no problem with it.

And your reply didn't address *any* of your problematic behavior. To me, it seems that you are just not happy with the system that is in place, and instead of changing yourself, you describe the system as flawed.

Well i have, second time, and magically, with the same mod who actively deletes my content :)
My behavior is brilliant

Nobody is actively deleting your content, unless your content is off-topic, and even then it's usually put on hold or closed
You are so obsessed with this idea that someone is out there to get you

okay. let's talk about how much people decided what is off-topic.
nope, answer the question. let's discuss it as you cannot stop.
So you think two people can decide if question is off-topic. Am i right?

No, the community decides

10:48 AM
We're talking about something that is already happened. we have precise counts.

What exactly do you mean? Are you refering to the two users who voted your question off-topic? Would you feel better if it were 5?

Of course!
That's all the deal bro
5 not 2

@Croll please stop. There are rules to the site and you simply have to follow it.I am sure if you would have asked in the DMZ people would have helped you.But instead you are fighting for no reason at all

@VipulNair i am very sorry if you feel uncomfortable. But @Me

I am not sure why you are so needlessly antagonistic towards me, or everyone else. What are you trying to gain by doing that?

10:49 AM
@MechMK1 forced me to answer his concerns about my behavior. I only answering.

also remember that two people who closed have been in the profession for many many years.Lets not forget that

Don't feed the trolls

Questions can be closed as off-topic if either a.) 5 users with enough reputation vote to close it as off-topic, or b.) a moderator closes it as off-topic

So @MechMK1, you heard me, 5, not 2. And everything is chocolate. Thanks for understanding

I literally just explained to you how the system works. What else do you want from me?
And furthermore, your question was put on hold, not closed. You can still edit the question and apply to have it re-opened, once you have changed it sufficiently for it to not be off-topic anymore.

10:53 AM
@MechMK1 It was you who expressed concernes about my "harassing" mods. While everything you saw is 8 comments left without a reply to me. I only posted a my question se.
But i will not keep silent when you say false. I am very glad we're concluded that you like the system and i don't like the system of one-mod decision. I think this is a significant progress

@Croll Continuously flagging constructive comments is a form of harassment. If you disagree, then I can't help you.

ok

You know what, I think in general I can't help you. You are so convinced that you are right and that everyone is out there to get you, that nothing anybody could say or do would change that.

@Croll jesus man.My questions get downvoted all the time.Whats the big deal.No need to rebel for no reason. The mod has been around for quite some time you know. You just came yesterday.

If @schroeder was a pro in any sense, he would realize that my question is very related to security and pentesting "process".

10:56 AM
@Croll alright man.Gain enough rep and we will make you the mod.

@VipulNair but they are not closed. i am ready to have 200 downvotes
but not closing or deleting like this boy did without any type of peer review from other people enough to convince anyone.

If you want peer review, I also think your question should be closed. That makes at least 3 people

you said 5 you remember
I think closing is quite unneeded in most cases.
Rep loses will help quality.

If you disagree with how stackexchange is run, then there are plenty of alternatives
reddit, 4chan, your work place, getting drunk and explaining your problem to strangers in a bar, etc.
People come to stackexchange because they want high-quality answers. People who are capable of giving high-quality answers expect questions to meet certain standards.
Your question does not meet these standards, and several people gave you several comments on how your question could be improved

it seems to me that you are trying to provoke me instead of listening that there are not problems between us, absolutely
and that i disagree with your vp, of course.

11:04 AM
I don't know how you come to the conclusion that I am trying to provoke you, but I assure you that I am not. And I don't see why you have to mention that this isn't personal - I know it isn't.

The point of my argument still stands: You have a problem with how Stack Exchange is designed to work. You can either a.) adapt to Stack Exchange, b.) find a different community that works differently, or c.) complain in the relevant channels to see if enough people support your view point and change Stack Exchange.
I just doubt that c.) will work, because many many people use Stack Exchange every day, and they don't seem to have a problem with it generally.
As for the "only 5 people are needed to close a question" - yes, because you can't make a community election for every single low-quality question. In fact, other sites are currently experimenting with requiring only 3 votes to close and re-open question.

yeah btw i am going c out of curiosity but of course not on meta. i actually think in the future community will come to this by itself. I am just an early flower in what is very pointeless for smaller stack exchanges and their quality

@Croll yes you are the chosen one
3

Well, feel free to go down that route. Just keep in mind that Meta is probably your best bet. If you keep writing low-quality questions, then at some point you will get an automated question ban

I hear you

The boy of prophecy @Croll

11:08 AM
Viva me!

The emphasis on automated. It's not by a mod, who supposedly hates you, or the community, or anyone else. It's a script, designed to keep low-quality spam out
It's hilarious, because last week somebody came here, who was affected by the ban. His questions were not even that bad, just not great.

i never said he hates me. I said he is incompetent in deciding by himself what is off-topic. No problem anymore! I mailed my concern to people whoknow better than me. I have no problem now.
i never was banned for years on se.

Again, if you feel that a moderator is not capable of conducting their duty as a moderator, you can voice those concerns on Meta
Though it interests me whom you mailed, and about what

12:09 PM
@Croll I assume you're talking about @schroeder He's probably the most active mod on this site, and having been here for many years, I've certainly seen him doing his moderator thing many, many times. For that reason I can emphatically state: he does an excellent job of keeping this place running. He is perfectly competent to decide what is on-topic here.
Note, that while his close vote stopped your question sooner, it's quite clear that his opinion is by no means a minority. Someone else first voted to close your question, which is why it ended up in the review queue and he saw it sooner. Had I seen that question sooner, I would have voted to close it myself - it's clearly off topic here.
I'm sorry if you don't like it, but it is exactly as @MechMK1 said. The rules are setup the way they are because they work well for a very large number of people out there, and something less "regulated" is not what we want. If you don't like the way we operate, then that's fine - there are countless numbers of sites out there that work the way you want this to work. You can ask your questions on any of those without issue.

12:36 PM
@MechMK1 lol!

1:06 PM
can someone explain me what jenessa is saying in comments?

Q: How to decide whether an eshop is safe or compromised

Eternal_LightSo, I am having this issue where I want to buy a specific wacom product but their online store eu-store.wacom.com and us-store.wacom.com, even though it is being accessed through https, does not convince my firefox that it's safe. The actual wacom homepage www.wacom.com shows up with a proper ...

1:29 PM
never mind i am wrong i get it

@ConorMancone Glad you like it

2:30 PM
Do you guys know any Windows 10 hardening guides that aren't hopelessly outdated? I'm trying to migrate from 7 to 10, and I'd rather be prepared

@A.Hersean Oh boy, I had hoped for a list of a few things...this is brilliant
Thank you very much, kind sir
