@AviD So, I made a sample sheet with about 15,000 rows for that remove duplicates issue. And, yeah. Those array formulas are taking for-ev-er.
I think there's a way I can set up the formula to dynamically address only populated cells. But I'm not sure how well that'll work in an array.
When I was younger, I used to be mildly amused that I could bog Excel down just by writing formulas so that it could count & assign contiguous numbers to all the cells in a sheet. That's nothing compared to what these array formulas are doing.
03:57
Ah, correction: 21,220 rows.
So, instead of referring to entire columns, I used this little bit to address only the populated cells. (INDIRECT(CONCATENATE("'Test_1-1'!$A$2:$A$",COUNTA('Test_1-1'!$A:$A)))
That helped performance a good bit, but it still took a couple minutes to calculate.

A: SSAS cube consumer beside excel

Lego StormtrooprCubes cube cube cube? Cube cube! Cube, cube cubes cube cubes cube cube - cube cube. Cube cube cubes cube cubes cube cube cubes, cube cube Cube: [cube.cube] Cube, cube cubes cube cube cubes: Cube (cube) { cube, cube = cubes.cube(); cube = cube + cube; return cube; } edit: Cube...

You gotta see this before it disappears LOL :))
@TildalWave Damn, that got 6 upvotes???
@TerryChia it's making a valid point ;)
considering the question
fwiw I've worked a lot with decision cubes back in the days... we were all scratching our heads what good it does to customers that have problems visualizing complex multidimensional data... and customers were even more puzzled what to do with them, they'd usually have problems with nested lookups even
@TildalWave Boats boats boat!
That was HIMYM reference, but I can't exactly link a youtube video at work. :P
@TerryChia reminded me of that too yes :) cube boats this time
btw, while googling for picard facepalm, look what gem I found LOL:
06:24
Quick i need advice!
My mates an I purchased an ATM....
But it weighs 500KG!
>_>
How can i move the ATM??
@this.josh But i do not haz a forklift, all i have is a trailer...
hehehe
06:32
@TildalWave I do have one of those... I'm not sure it'll take the weight howeer..
@this.josh That's awesome!
@D3C4FF dunno, I guess it depends on how strong it's made? :P
or steal four skateboards from the kids in the neighborhood
from the fat kids
they have heavy duty skateboards + they can't run fast enough :)
The hard part's getting it onto the trailer (picking it up tonight)... When we get it back to my warehouse i've got a crane that we can move it with.
06:36
Does it need to remain in good condition, or just operational?
@D3C4FF Can you lean the trailer so it touches the ground at the rear end? Then just dump the ATM on its end, slide it forward, and drive away ;)
the real question here is of course if the ATM will be still attached to the phone line :))
@TildalWave Yeah that's the plan at the moment i think.. :/ There's only four of us to move it... D:
@TildalWave Nope! :P

Q: Looking for a specific arthouse film that i only saw the end of

D3C4FFI'm not sure where else on the internet to ask this and I've tried looking extensively myself. Many years ago when I was much younger I saw a movie on TV (SBS Australia if that helps anyone) that I only caught the end of and its lodged its self like a splinter in my mind ever since. This was many...

Depending on the number of mates you have, make an inclined plane out of some wood and slowly push it up the ramp to the trailer
If any of you are movie buffs... <_<
06:47
It takes 14-16 to move an ATM quickly, four will be very slow.
@this.josh Damn :(
@TildalWave Hmm, not sure if i've seen it, i'll download it and check it out, thanks :)
i'll be back lat0r. moving time!
07:03
@D3C4FF Honestly, I don't remember how it ended, but it's a cool movie anyway, so you won't regret watching it, I'm sure :) I'll try to find it and check, should be lying around somewhere
@TildalWave claaaasic :-)
Up In Smoke is a classic ... and all cars were "boxes" then LOL
@AviD Harald and Kumar ones are also pretty good IMO
always amused me seeing cheech in "serious" roles.
chong playing "chong" for the rest of his career, not so much.
still funny though.
like Leo in 70's show....
@TildalWave decent, but not the same.
@D3C4FF Definitely NOT that movie what you are searching for! But the "The World's Fastest Indian" still a good movie! :)
@AviD no not the same tru dat
07:20
actually, it did seem like they were trying to recreate C&C... fell flat for most of it. Still amusing though....
@AviD He was a good guy
@Adnan he was funny, sure. And a great boss.
but it was basically just "Chong, more of the same".
Cheech actually became a decent actor.
Like in Nash Bridges from the '90s...
and apparently, quite a few others.
@AviD In my teenage years, I liked that show.
My favourite scene is where that Punk'd guy remembers a totally different version of the story about the geeky guy's sister.
@Adnan heh, yeah. And you dont know anybody's name....!
Kelso, Eric, Laurie.
Cmon, is IMDB that difficult? ;-)
sfunny, the "punkd guy" for years was "That dumbass from the 70s show". Its where he got his start.
07:30
Then he was "the guy banging Demi Moore"....
@AviD Google "Demi Moore"
@Adnan why?
@AviD I don't know, I wanted to know who that was.
@Adnan ah. Showgirls? Bruce Willis' ex-wife?
The older woman that used to be banging that punk'd guy?
@AviD I feel so far behind.. I know nothing
I might as well be called Jon Snow
07:40
StripTease. Voted one of the sexiest movies of all time...
I still need the chiseled jaw, bed eyes, and nice hair, though.
(striptease, not showgirls... sorry)(
@Adnan You also need to be a bastard of the North.
seriously, she was in a ton of stuff. look her up...
@TerryChia Oh yeah... too bad I'm not..
07:49
@Adnan Wish I had seen that one when it was posted. I would have answered in a very similar way so would have hopped on board the reptrain :-)
@RoryAlsop I'll let you know before the next one.
08:46
MORNING
@LucasKauffman Morning, hon.
what's up in the dmz?
@LucasKauffman Your mom.
@TerryChia well fuck you
@LucasKauffman Haven't you already?
08:58
@LucasKauffman :D
@Adnan you can see it on @Terry's face
@LucasKauffman Ewwww
09:28
Here's a crazy idea: Let's try to keep the level of conversation here, above the bare minimum. If not actually on-topic. So, y'know, like a 5th grade level, not a 3rd grade.
10:11
heh, nice
@Adnan you know what they call a quarter-pounder with cheese in France?
10:26
@AviD What do they call it?
@Adnan Royale with Cheese
MOTHERF**CKER!!
@LucasKauffman Link me to the comment that says it's PHP's fault.
that's implicitly assumed
@LucasKauffman explicitly, isnt that what the 2nd P stands for?
besides, its the fault of the PHP programmer, so six vs half-dozen...
"programmer"
</annoying-adnan> ... ;-)
wait, its actually the fault of whoever let that non-programmer touch code...
okay, now I'm done.
11:23
Does anyone know anything about this?

Q: Are Web Views in android secure?

Power-Inside"Web Views" are views that display some online content, usually a webpage within an android app. Implemented "Web Views" usually don't seem to have any kind of status bar or an address bar to confirm if I'm on the right website or not. Thus making it a perfect exploit for malicious apps to serve...

11:54
@LucasKauffman Ah, more PHP bashing?
Have you seen the recent PHP vs Debian fuss about licensing?
@TerryChia link me
@LucasKauffman Stefan Esser tweeted it a while ago, bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=63520
@LucasKauffman And seriously, what the fuck? Giving the Apache daemon root access..?
Sure, absolutely nothing can go wrong.
@TerryChia haha, lolwat?
Debian is opposed to being used for Good, not Evil??
@TerryChia sigh this is outright trolling on the Debian side
@AviD Hehe. Apparently that one line disqualifies the project from being FOSS. That's a real wtf.
@Adnan Yeah, I normally have nothing but hate for PHP but this is Debian's fucking problem.
12:14
I went out with a Debian once.
lucaskauffman on August 28, 2013

Recently I answered a question on security.stackexchange.com regarding security in wireless protocols. The OP wanted to know more about what methods were available to break into a wireless network and how long it would take.

There are several popular types of encryption for wireless networks:

WEP

WPA

WPA2

WPS

Let’s first dive into WEP. WEP was the first algorithm used to secure wireless access points. Unfortunately it was discovered that WEP had some serious flaws. In 2001, 3 researchers working at Berkeley produced a paper named “(In)Security of the WEP algorithm“. They found the following flaws in WEP: …

Who the hell is this lucaskauffman nerd?
@Simon Did she put out?
@Adnan She loved Kernel popcorn.
@Simon popcron*
12:22
wat
The software utility cron is a time-based job scheduler in Unix-like computer operating systems. People who set up and maintain software environments use cron to schedule jobs (commands or shell scripts) to run periodically at fixed times, dates, or intervals. It typically automates system maintenance or administration—though its general-purpose nature makes it useful for things like connecting to the Internet and downloading email at regular intervals. The name cron comes from the Greek word for time, χρόνος [chronos]. Overview Cron is driven by a crontab (cron table) file, a config...
I know but what the hell is popcron?!?!?
You pun'd that shit.
That's pretty terrible. Even by pun standards.
@TerryChia well, we all know that FOSS is evil, and Linux is a cancer.
@AviD Ah right. You like Microsoft...
:P
@TerryChia psshaw.
12:53
@jrg Sheldon!
13:11
Why isn't there a damn search in the process list of taskmgr?
Unless there's one in W8, I haven't tried it yet.
jrg
jrg
@Simon i don't think there is.
let me check.
@TerryChia hi!
@Simon Linux. You know you want to.
jrg
jrg
@Simon nope.
I wish there was a htop for Windows though.
Because I'm stuck using Win8 for the next 3-4 months.
Yay projects.
@jrg Can't you use a VM?
jrg
jrg
Not when I need the full VisualStudio stack.
13:14
@Simon waddaya mean? You just start typing the name and it autoselects.
or do you mean by something other than name?
@jrg Ahh. Bummer. :(
What features can't you use in a VM?
jrg
jrg
@TerryChia even with the new laptop, it pushes it.
@Simon Why are you still using Task Manager anyway? Process Explorer 4 lyfe, man!
@Xander ps aux ftw.
jrg
jrg
It's more of a "Gah, I'd need 2 SSDs, 16GB of ram and another monitor"
13:16
@jrg So use a desktop. :P
jrg
jrg
@TerryChia Nope.
oh look. @jrg came back to visit
jrg
jrg
This Just Works for now.
@ScottPack yes, to complain about Windows 8.
@jrg Yeah, fuck that piece of crap. :P
jrg
jrg
To people who will ask me "What's your IP address?" and then use the built-in backdoor on it.
13:18
I still have zero friggin idea why MS puts the Metro interface on Windows Server.
jrg
jrg
Ew, yeah.
@AviD Well maybe do some sort of "LIKE" to search for a file that contains whatever you're searching in its name.
@Xander I've been using Task Manager for years, you can't talk me out of it!
@TerryChia Of course I want to but that's what I have to deal with at work.
@Simon Ok then, suit yourself. You should give Process Explorer a try though. It has lots of useful information. And it's free. And you can set an option to launch it instead of Task Manager if you decide you like it.
@Xander It's not built-in, right?
Oh yeah, definitely not built-in since you said it's free.
No, but it's free. It's part of the SysInternals tool suite that Microsoft bought a few years back.
13:30
I don't think I'm gonna bother installing it on every single VMs I work with, lol.
@Simon Process explorer is worth the time to install.
It's an excellent utility.
@Simon You don't actually have to install it. You can run it live from the web.
Ain't nobody got time fo dat.
@Xander btw, in win8 task manager is sooo much cooler.
@Xander Oh, nice.
13:32
@AviD It's prettier, for sure...But it still doesn't give you very much information. :-)
@Xander it does give you lots more information.
and, easier to manage / sift through that information.
still not procexp, but it's definitely a step up.
probably about halfway there.
so I dont need procexp for ALL situations, just most.
@jrg Oh, so you've used Windows 8!
@AviD Ok, more, yes. And I love how easy it is to get to perf counters now..I don't remember that pre-8. But yeah, still not ProcExp.
setting out adding o-ring dampeners to my keyboard...this is going to take a while
You could always buy a Model M. I hear those are renowned for their quietness.
13:41
nurdz
@ScottPack its more the case that i like to bottom out. these should make things faster
I'll bet you do.
we really need to do some quality control on the innuendo in here.
I've only had one cup of coffee.
@ScottPack I had 2 hot chocolate.
13:48
mother.of.god. this is taking a long time.
What's taking a long time?
@ScottPack adding the o-rings.
its fiddly
@lynks is that anything like an o-face?
@AviD QC needed.
@lynks hey, I'm just trying to prove your point here.
13:52
@AviD I'll prove your point
meh.
That doesn't really work. I applaud your effort, though.
could go either way.
bazinga.
jrg
jrg
@scott yessir.
Considering writing a book: Windows 8 for the Linux Guy.
it'll be one page. that simply says "VirtualBox".
And on the back cover it will say "Don't".
I'm not really sure what distro I would recommend anymore. The DEs are all a mess these days.
14:00
@ScottPack Mint is still fairly normal.
But I'm still sticking with Fedora and GNOME. I pretty much got used to it.
@TerryChia KDE has exploded in complexity and bloatedness (plus I just don't feel comfortable with the Debian model). Unity is garbage. Gnome3 is garbage.
Jesus, what flag would be the best?

amorbytesI want to make movie dvd which will played on dvd player. but, I want to make it copy restricted. Gnome3Classic is an effort to give us Gnome2 again, which was pretty dang usable, but it's kludgy at best.
GNOME3 is fine when you actually take time to get used to it.
MATE tried really hard, but by doing a s/gnome/mate/g they made it a clone fork of gnome2 but without any of the compatability.
The most recent Gnome3 on a single monitor was pretty usable, I don't disagree. The multiple-monitor support is barely a feature set checkbox
14:12
I switched to tiled desktops year ago or so, never looked back.
God i hate early morning meetings.
@DavidFreitag That is one of the drawbacks of modern global business.
A convenient time for somebody else is not always convenient for you.
jrg
jrg
Yeah, so that's when I push for the entire company to just live off of UTC.
14:28
@jrg I say we do away with time zones entirely. Who cares if it's dark at one in the afternoon for some people? They'll get use to it. The crazy folks in the southern hemisphere already have cold weather in July and August when it should be the middle of summer, so surely people can get used to dark days and light nights as well.
@Xander I'm a fan of this.
Although biologically speaking we are programmed to get tired when it gets dark.
It would be like forced biological evolution through coffee and red bull.
@Xander Things get weird when your bank starts having open hours of 1:30am to 10:30am.
@DavidFreitag You're alive?!?!?
The trick is getting the entire population of the developed world to adjust to an entirely new standard of time.
@ScottPack But if time were global instead of localized, it wouldn't actually be 1:30 - 10:30.
14:30
@DavidFreitag I'm allowing for the use of 12 hour time.
@Simon Yes, I've been watching from the corner in the dark.
@ScottPack All I need is your love.
@ScottPack Mine is like half gone now.
14:32
I wonder if you can subscribe and save that.
The friction burns are too much, i had to stop.
@Xander Exactly.
@ScottPack No no, that's the point. Your bank would still be open from 9am-5pm. It would just be open in the dark.
@Xander That sounds like a terrible idea.
@ScottPack Why's that?
@ScottPack No, it's brilliant. Just like how the Australians decided to have winter in the middle of summer, just because of where they're located. It's the same thing.
14:35
You do realize that in places like Alaska they have special places you can go because normal human biology doesn't handle things like long term nocturnal living very well, right?
@ScottPack They just haven't tried hard enough. They're kind of soft up there.
@ScottPack Fine, then we will create an artificial sun that will burn so the entirety of earth is immersed in light.
@DavidFreitag Or an orbital mirror.
@ScottPack Nah, because one little servo motor malfunction and you suddenly have a giant sun-powered laser beam from space.
I like the sound of an artificial star inside of earth's atmosphere more.
@DavidFreitag Depending on where the laser was pointed, that might not be a bad thing.
14:40
@Xander Well sure, "accidents" do happen.
@DavidFreitag I fail to see how your description makes it less awesome an idea.
@ScottPack Hmmm, fair point. Orbital mirrors and artificial suns. That's the way to go.
jrg
jrg
15:12
@Xander That sounds like a plan.
Is there a Sec.SE CTF team @ 44con?
Oh, @jrg. You should be proud of me. We've moved to the north side of Columbus. I'm like near civilization and stuff.
jrg
jrg
Yay!
15:30
Today is going to be a looong day. Up at 5:30 and I'll be in class until 11:50 tonight...
Just a quick reminder, if anyone is interested in a launch of the currently heaviest American orbital launcher, we'll be covering it in Space Exploration chat room (in about 2 hours time):

@TildalWave Thanks for the info :]

sweet, I just found a reason to skip out early on my 1PM meeting today.
15:36
@jrg hehehe glad to be of service :)
jrg
jrg
Or I might have just found a way to prolong it... by putting this on the big screen. :)
@jrg ehem ... the size and oomph of this thing might make some feel inadequate ... tho that might be a desirable side effect sometimes LOL
jrg
jrg
@TildalWave desirable to make my boss feel small? Nah.
@jrg Wait. 1pm meeting? Shouldn't you be in school?
jrg
jrg
@ScottPack still homeschooled. This is the "wrapping up all my projects and handing them off to other people" meeting.
Before I go down to 1 day a week.
15:40
@jrg Ah, I didn't realize you were homeschooled. That definitely changes assumptions. :)
jrg
jrg
@ScottPack We've had this conversation before, right after bsides.
We did? You have to remember. I'm old and that was a long time ago.

jrg
jrg
speaking of which, know any good infosec confs in the area? I missed notacon.
Not really, just BSides and not notacon. In October OU hosts a one day seminar, but it's more of a Training and Awareness event targeted at end-users.
I'm finding that there are recurring events in CBus, but not conferences as such.

And by "real soon" I mean "Friday".
jrg

well, I'll be halfway there.
But busy. :(
Yeah. Friday is actually my on-site day to be back in Athens. It's all cloudy programmery stuff anyway. Yuck.
16:16
How is everyone today?
@ScottPack Nice putting Friday in quotes. Seems whenever you plan something by a certain date it's never achieved by that date.
@Griffin It was more of a dereferencing. I'm pretty sure the conference will actually be happening on that day.
@ScottPack Ohh I thought you were trying to meet a deadline I saw development and was like ohh he's making something.
Oh heavens no. I'm a systems guy.
Upgrading / managing system, a friend of mine is on a HUGE project decommissioning servers.
@ScottPack Or cleaning out useless VMs
I've been doing the same thing for evidence.

in ~15 minutes.
17:08
NASA is crashing a helicopter from 30 ft now in few minutes ... the stream is available here ;)
@TildalWave That's so 21 minutes ago.
@DavidFreitag yes? well the stream is available now LOL
@TildalWave No, i mean i already posted about it
@DavidFreitag Oh, sorry didn't see :(
@TildalWave Hah, well no worries. The more the merrier :]

17:59
I dare say the rocket launch may be a bit more exciting than the helicopter drop was.
@Xander I certainly hope so. That thunk was pretty boring for NASA.
jrg
jrg
BUT DATA
This is what happens when you get all hyped up, kids.
@jrg I'm sure the data will be fascinating and invaluable. The data collection, however, looked slightly less exciting than a bad carnival ride.
jrg
jrg
Hey, bad carnival rides can be fun.
18:02
@jrg This one could be called "The one second whiplasher"
@Simon It's usually over faster than you would like and be slightly disappointing?
Picture sitting in a box that gets kicked off a roof.
@ScottPack Yup.
@Xander You clearly don't have an older brother.
@ScottPack You are correct sir.
18:16
Look like the latest
Argh. I hate Madagascar.
@Iszi the film? Or the way they close the borders in Pandemic 2
@RoryAlsop The latter.
And I kinda wish they'd release a new game.
@Iszi yeah
What I don't get is that I keep my diseases practically invisible until they're very widespread. So, how does humanity even notice it at all let alone bother to start panicking and reacting to it?
18:19
Love that game. See, the trick is to mash refresh until you get madagascar as your starting location.
@RoryAlsop That's how I feel when play Pandemic 2
You essentially have to start in the country to win
@DavidFreitag But if it's not them, it's Greenland. If not them, New Zealand, etc. Madagascar just tends to be the first.
What's the difference between the starred posts with stars that aren't filled and the ones that are?
@Iszi Yeah... so true.
@DavidFreitag The ones that are outlined have been pinned by the room owner.
@Iszi Ah, i see. Thanks :]
@Griffin Oh, anonymous. Saying things like that is only going to make the CIA knock your door down and shoot you in the face.
18:23
@DavidFreitag They seem to be successful in avoiding them for the most part.
@Griffin That's probably because the CIA forced them into working for them instead of killing them.
Either way, what does Anonymous hope to gain by saying things like this? And above that, what can they hope to do to stop the US government from turning Syria into another Iraq?
@DavidFreitag US government is actually busy turning Syria into another Afghanistan, not another Iraq.
They are already at the phase "let's train extremists with our methods and weapons, so that they may topple down an inconvenient dictator (and later on make some bombing on US territory)".
@ThomasPornin Mmm good point. But still, what could anonymous hope to do to stop the US government that would affect the average US citizen?
er, wouldn't rather.
18:44
@DavidFreitag I have not seen the video.
I already have trouble with the notion of "Anonymous" being a well-defined group of persons. I thought that the point made by the reuse of the mask (from the comic) is that, indeed, there is no "Anonymous" (i.e. everybody who claims to be part of it is, by definition, part of it).
@ThomasPornin This is kinda like what I dislike youtube.com/watch?v=kwk_Ot8orPY
@ThomasPornin Afghanistan was another Iraq.
@ThomasPornin They basically say "This is unacceptable, and we as Americans won't stand for another invasion for a foreign country" They point out the fact that the US is creating terrorists and how the US uses the term "terrorism" to justify invading Syria.
> The truth is the United States government, along with its western allies, is facilitating this war by supplying terrorist cells with weapons to destabilize the Syrian government, then using the term "terrorism" as justification in an attempt to invade Syria's territory; all of this so as to implement policies of their own and rape the country of its resources.
Also. Did you know that 23% of all photocopier malfunctions - are from people copying their butts?
I felt that was a factoid you all should know.
@AviD That explains why my copier keeps jamming...
18:48
@AviD I didn't and I still don't, because that looks like a figure hastily extracted from a copied butt.
@ThomasPornin heh, no it's true, I read it on the Internet.
