9:00 PM
@Adnan did I deny it...?

I don't see how's that appropriate for IT Security
@AviD I don't know. We, the underlings, can't see which mod declined what.

@Adnan oh, dont you get a declined message?

No I think you managed to cover everything.

but no, it wasnt me.

@AviD I got a canned message "declined - a moderator reviewed your flag, but found no evidence to support it"
Most of the time when I see it, I think of the question again, and I agree with it. But this time, nope.

9:02 PM
@Adnan I am of two minds to this. The answer is definitely a Super User answer. However the question, to someone who doesnt know better, could very well be a sec.se question.
@AntonyVennard I got a bit wordy there. If it was out loud I would need to catch my breath.

@AviD We'll see what he wants in the end I guess.

anyway, lets give him some time with this, then figure out what to do in the morning - edit it, or edit it and migrate to crypto.
@AntonyVennard I do think there is a fair question there, even two - one for here and one for crypto.

@AviD Crypto? What the hell?

@Adnan Oi. I used to be a mod there.

@Adnan differnt q.

9:04 PM
Back when I was blue.

@AviD I see.

talking to @AntonyVennard about the cryptanalysis one.

@AviD I wanted to punch that guy
So rude.

@AntonyVennard ba da di dum da
@Adnan I'm sure he feels so special.
seem to be having some latent violent tendencies, is everything ok?

@AviD I just hope that he doesn't think if we can't crack it then it's secure.

9:06 PM
@Adnan is your boyfriend not giving you enough attention? ;-)
@Adnan He is a self proclaimed Python Hacker. Of course he thinks its secure.

@AviD Lord Almighty! When is this gonna end?

hahahaha

@AviD Well, he does have a couple of good projects.

@Adnan this is the DMZ. It will probably wind up in that Meta Meme post.

@Adnan Never. I'm about to add it to the memes thread. The joke will now be used ad infinitum.

9:08 PM
woohoo

@AviD It seems we just thought exactly the same thing. I'm not actually going to add it, but it did cross my mind.

Great, now his question is #1 on the SuperCollider. Hello hello random upvoters.

@Adnan dammit. Protected.
not surprising though, I kinda expected it.

I hate this! On SO, I have casted 1405 votes, took 2776 reviews, made 882 edits. But still I'm not qualified to access the close vote reviews because I need 140 rep. No logic!

@Adnan 130

9:16 PM
@TildalWave 132
hahaha

@AviD why 2 more?

@TildalWave a downvote is -2 rep....
kidding, though

@AviD that's what she said

@TildalWave huh...? I think you're using that wrong.

@AviD that's what she said!

9:19 PM
@AviD ^^^^

@Gilles hehe, excellent. @TildalWave, watch and learn.

{| align="right" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" |-valign="top" | | |} Fool's Mate, also known as the "Two-Move Checkmate", is the quickest possible checkmate in chess. A prime example consists of the moves: :1. :2. resulting in the position shown. (The pattern can have slight variations, for example White might play f2–f4 instead of f2–f3 or move the g-pawn first, and Black might play e7–e6 instead of e7–e5.) Details Fool's Mate received its name because it can only occur if White plays extraordinarily weakly (i.e., foolishly). Even among rank beginners, the mate alm...

@TildalWave oo thanks, I need this. Maybe now I can beat my son at chess.

@AviD who said I didn't set you up for @Gilles ?

hehe
@TildalWave hmm, no, I wont ever get to use it. He would never do something so foolish. I, on the other hand...

just always open with the queen's gambit ;)

A: Why is layer 2 IDS seems underdeveloped compared to layer 3 IDS, for wireless network?

asadzInteresting discussion about the wireless infrastructure. The best way (and also one of the question you posted) is how the vendors such as cisco and others are doing to provide features that addresses some of the problems you listed with wireless technology. I'm hoping that by knowing and unders...

That whole answer is basically copied verbatim from a Cisco marketing white paper with no real attribution to speak of. Is that Kosher here?
And the correct answer may well be that it's fine. Just checking.

@Xander that's definitely not fine
if he works at cisco, he must acknowledge it
if he doesn't, this is plagiarism

@Gilles I don't think he works at Cisco. I think he's Googling keywords from questions and pasting results that he thinks are relevant as answers. Which I presume is ok, assuming that there's proper attribution and he adds some value to them. This was just a bit odd as it was a wholesale copy/paste job.

@Xander you want to edit or shall I?

Eric joined Microsoft right out of college and was originally working on VB

Eric now builds “static analysis” programs which actually means something real when he’s talking about it …

@Gilles Go for it! :-)
@Gilles This is the whitepaper. cisco.com/en/US/solutions/collateral/ns340/ns394/ns348/ns1070/… One of the links near the bottom incidentally links back to it.

That's a lot of quotes of buzzwords and marketspeak. The rest is barely grammatical English. How about providing some useful, original content? — Gilles 5 secs ago

i read cisco mse is PCI DSS compliant don't know if FCC is a problem. — asadz 5 hours ago

@Xander It's probably me to blame for that. The original answer (later removed) didn't quite read as if it was in line with what OP was asking, so I suggested he copies a few short excerpts from what documentation he was referring to for readability purposes. I though I was clear these quotes should short and that original source should be linked to, but I guess my idea wasn't conveyed (understood?) properly LOL

that made me chuckle heartily.
@TildalWave his answer is still basically "PLEASE GIVE CISCO MONEY"

@Polynomial yes I realized that when it was posted, but frankly the whole discussion about it gave me severe headaches by then
probably no need to mention where and when these discussions ended

@Polynomial H never seems to pass up a chance to use an acronym, that's for sure.
@TildalWave Yeah, that's pretty much par for the course.

11:52 PM
@Xander Or marketing speak.

@Polynomial Yup, not that either. Although I think his source material may be as much to blame for that as he is, since most of his answers seem to be Google-found product promotions of some kind or another.
