About 18 months ago, I had a dream where I went to a William Lane Craig debate and asked a question of his opponent in the open mic time. Afterwards, Craig invited me to supper and started interviewing me on the spot. His last question was "When can you start?" I replied "as soon as I decide between this offer and the one from Ravi Zaccharias."

One of my best dreams ever.

When I ask questions in comments on the site, my purpose is to improve the post -- so while having an email conversation might answer my question, it won't help anybody else. Similarly, I don't want people to answer in comments (which might not stick around, nor be read), but by editing the post. Sorry I wasn't clear enough about that. As for your comment to me, I was & still am mystified by it; it doesn't seem to have anything to do w/ the prior discussion.

@Caleb err, can you explain it to me since it's still not clear from the chat log here? Remember that it's on a question about Malkhi-Tzedek and I didn't say anything about crucifixion (which doesn't seem to have anything to do with the topic at hand). It kind of looks to me like Theodore is reading into my words things I didn't say -- or maybe he assumes we share a doctrine or something.

@TheodoreA.Jones so here's a thing you may have missed: BH is not a Christian site. Questions must arise from the text, not doctrine (or be about herm. methods), and answers must start from the text and follow some path to a conclusion. We don't really do doctrine here (though it creeps into answers), and there are no doctrinal axioms. This is a site not just for Christians but also Jews, Muslims, atheists, areligious academics, and anybody else who takes the biblical text seriously.

@FrankLuke ah, thanks -- I didn't know that Christians ascribed supernatural status to Malkhi-Tzedek. I'd never heard the claim before. (To us he's an ordinary human, though one who also worships God; nothing in Genesis leaves any doubt.) I've seen some rabbinic commentary on him but not a lot. He shows up out of nowhere for three verses or so and then disappears again, so you know there'll be some questions. :-)
