Does this site take biblical hebrew grammar questions?
note: would rely on the (tibirian) vowels, not just the consonants

@soandos If it was related to a particular passage in the Hebrew Bible, I expect that would work. You could always ask, and if it is not "on topic", a friendly ♦ would tell you. :)

@PaulVargas this was a holiday weekend for many of us in the US. I spent time on a boat rather than on the computer ;)

@Daи Wow! What about UK?

@PaulVargas the font choice can make it hard sometimes to read the original languages. I've brought this up before:

Q: Font Choice and Hebrew Rendering

DaиWhen this site finally makes it out of beta and gets its own design, I'd like to request that the font be serif rather than sans-serif (or at least when rendering Hebrew). Compare these screenshots of BH.SE and MY.SE, showing the exact same Hebrew (and Greek) text. BH.SE (sans-serif) MY.SE (se...

@Daи Right now, I'm using Firefox. The font (Helvetica Neue) is displayed correctly. The problem is with Google Chrome and Safari. Both in Windows 7.

@PaulVargas What OS are you using? Mac I presume?

@Daи I see the problem when the post contains letters of the Greek alphabet. Windows 7 SP1. With the font Helvetica Neue.

A: CSS Font "Helvetica Neue"

SyrenIt's a default font on Macs, but rare on PCs. Since it's not technically web-safe, some people may have it and some people may not. If you want to use a font like that, without using @font-face, you may want to write it out several different ways because it might not work the same for everyone....

@Daи I have that font installed. Uninstall solve the problem.
But with Firefox, it looks fine.
@Daи What was celebrated these days? What was the celebration?

3:31 PM
Welcome aboard, @AJHenderson How have you been?

alright

@AJHenderson Do you also holiday weekend?

yeah, we had memorial day on monday

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the country's armed forces. The holiday, which is celebrated every year on the last Monday of May, was formerly known as Decoration Day and originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the war. By the 20th century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in the military service. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end. Many people visit...
@AJHenderson Thank you. This explains the absence of many.
But I have not seen Jack these days.

@PaulVargas I assume you are referring to this question, since that is my first question posted here. If you have any relevant commentary knowledge, then you could answer, whether "grown up" or not :-).

@ScottS You are right! :-) Thanks for the invitation. Let me think about it.

@user2479 Hi! Where are you from? What do you do?

Fine, thank you! And yourself?
@Paul Vargas I am an Electrical Contractor, and a Maintenance Electrician

@user2479 Fine, thanks God. And, where are you from?

@PaulVargas Twin Cities, Minnesota

@user2479 I've seen some of your answers. Tell me something ... just curious ... Why do you put the biblical references in bold font?

@PaulVargas To separate from other references, which I put in italics; I also 'block quote' to separate references.

8:49 PM
@user2479 e.g. this Humm... I see. I already understand.

@Caleb OK. I'm a little bit in shock. Good thing I was sitting down when I read that.

@user2479 Have you ever revealed your real name? Curiosity, again. :-)

@PaulVargas Accidentally, when I first signed up. I started with what was called a "Stump the Chumps" question, and got a '-7' reputation from which I would never participate. I had to "re-invent" myself(it was 'trendy at the time) in order to contribute again. I already have a 'moniker' in mind, but I like anonymity-focus's people on your response instead of, "Oh, it's him again".

@user2479 No problem. I will not tell anyone.
I'm from Mexico. Java programmer.
I attend a Baptist church. However, I consider myself non-denominational.
I try not to be dogmatic about it.

9:05 PM
@PaulVargas It's an open secret. As an aside, I once mentioned off-handedly that a particular contributor must be a nuclear physicist working in Los Alamos, because only such a person would see the logic in such a response. I then got a Private Message telling me to "Delete My Comment" and not reveal his identity. So, you never know who's posting..

@user2479 Really? Wow! :-)

@PaulVargas I think he must have been "goofing off" on the Department of Energy's time, rather than developing the next Mega-ton instrument of destruction...
@PaulVargas Not dogmatic about what?

@user2479 Then he has free time to be here. He, he.

@PaulVargas To all our collective benefit, I'm sure.

@user2479 I forgot it.
Do you attend church regularly?

9:18 PM
@PaulVargas Yes, I do. I attend a non-denominational Charismatic church, which is pastored by someone I was formerly involved with in a Covenant Community.

@user2479 Covenant Community? What is it? Is the name of the church?

@PaulVargas Back in the late sixties and early seventies, the Charismatic Renewal was prominent in the Catholic Church, as well as Lutheren and Episcopal Churches. Since the desire of the individuals was to 'remain' within their respective churches, yet pursue a radical, fundemental expression of Christianity-similar to Acts 2:42, Covenant Communities were formed to facilitate this.

@user2479 Ah! I understand. I was not familiar with the term.

@PaulVargas (cont.) The larger expressions which are largely Catholic are "Sword of the Spirit", based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with satellite branches around the world. Another is People of Praise, based in South Bend, Indiana with branches in the US and the Carribean.

@user2479 I suspect that the pastor is not cessationist. Or maybe I'm wrong.

9:32 PM
@PaulVargas There are Protestant Communities as well; Bethany Fellowship is one. The difference being is that the Protestant ones usually end up being churches in themselves.
@PaulVargas Very much "Anti-cessationalist"; do you struggle with that?

@user2479 Well, I think not. However, I have not seen any genuine manifestation around here.
I have heard that there is something in some churches, but from my point of view, disorderly. e.g. That is, some persons speak in tongues, but no one can interpret. If there is no interpreter, they should not talk. Not according to the Scriptures.

@PaulVargas Google David Hogan; he is a missionary in Mexico and his ministry has seen over 200 confirmed cases of raisings from the dead. He recently visited our church, mainly because a member had a relationship with his son-in-law. He described 2 pastors who raised 2 girls-both about 18 years old that had died of plague. Lime was poured on them for some time, they were dead 3 days, and about to be buried, when the pastors called their names and they came up.

@user2479 Raisings from the dead? Really? :S

@PaulVargas Yup, documented. He's been to the White House on special invitation by the President, and he also prayed for the Pentagon officials.
@PaulVargas The "Speaking in other tongues" can be a contentious issue; when I was "Baptist", the Lord convinced me about "every perfect gift comes from the Father of lights, of whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning."(Jas. 1:17)

10:02 PM
@user2479 I will need credible academic references concerning the resurrection of the dead today.

@PaulVargas Some point in time, I hope to answer a question about "Why don't we see miracles in modern society?" I believe and I have witnessed miraculous healings, deliverences, etc. But there is a "worldview/paradigm" that conspires against such things.
@PaulVargas I will send you doctor's testamonies if you are interested. Also, the "raisings from the dead" are better described as "resusitations" than "resurrections". Lazarus did eventually die, as well as Dorcas, and the boy Paul raised from the dead. Of course, Jesus is resurrected, in that death had no more hold over Him.
@PaulVargas I just watched a movie 2 nights ago called,"Heaven is for Real". Colton Burpo, a pastor's son(Baptist, I believe) had died, went to Heaven and saw Jesus, the angels, his sister whom his mother had stillborn and never told him about, and his grandfather who died when his father was young. Tri-Star pictures produced it, so there was some heavyweight Hollywood support for it.
@PaulVargas I recommend reading the book(you could finish it in a couple hours), where it becomes clear that a 4 year old boy who is more interested in playing than telling what he saw is not making it up. Also, in the book there are some amazing observations which are not in the movie. The girl who painted the picture of Jesus from her death experience, which Colton recognized as Him is in the movie.
