Q: When did they stop routing long-distance phone calls through satellites? What was the maximum volume at its peak?

uhohI have read that in the early 1960's Telstar 1 and 2 were the first satellites to route long distance telephone calls. I seem to remember that long, long ago, long distance (overseas?) phone calls did have noticeable latency and sometimes annoying echoes, and I suspect that this was due in part ...

Greetings, again I'm looking for vocabulary, I'm a programmer working on a pet project:

I have a camera which outputs a 5V pulse for 50 microseconds directly before a capture.
I need to synchronize an LED with the capture, however the 50 microsecond pulse is not long enough for the LED to be on during the capture.

To overcome this, I'm reading the 50 microsecond pulse with an arduino, and when I detect it I turn on the LED for 1 millisecond.

The exact way I'm doing this is:
1. Camera signal -> MOSFET gate

@iamacomputer . . You could look for any "single shot timer", or "monostable multivibraotr". These can be used to stretch a pulse width.
A 555 timer is a verly old IC, but it could be used.

Thanks!
