@ArtificialHairlessArmpit ...*that* let the magic smoke out XD
Artificial Hairless Armpit
I have to replace the resistor
what is the resistance?
How to read this?
red, violet, silver, empty, gold
or
red, violet, silver, gold, empty
I think it is 278 ohm
my desktop power supply exploded.

@ArtificialHairlessArmpit yeah, I wonder what else blew up and why :P

The first band = RED
The second band = VIOLET
The third band = I am not sure, maybe SILVER or GRAY
The fourth band = empty
The fifth band = GOLD
The third band cannot be SILVER I think.
Shalvenay
yeah, silver doesn't make sense for the third band
unless...this is really a four-band resistor
come to think of it, I think this is really a four-band, 5%, metal-oxide-film resistor with a quite low value
maybe a 0.27ohm resistor in the 1-3W range, used for current sense?

@Shalvenay: I don't know current sense. :-)
@Shalvenay: How did you calculate 0.27 ohm?
Shalvenay
@ArtificialHairlessArmpit silver is 0.01 as a multiplier band
Artificial Hairless Armpit
silver : multiply by 0.1.

Hmm, the site seems to be wrong
@Shalvenay: Thank you!
