@JRE What is the maximum allowable ripple voltage I can have in a CW voltage multiplier?

@ScientistSmithYT The maximum ripple voltage is a parameter you set. How much ripple is acceptable to whatever you are powering with the high voltage?

@ScientistSmithYT I love how you turn your obtuseness into my problem. I don't have a situation. You have a situation in which you don't understand things and get bent out of shape when your lack of understanding is pointed out to you.

Speaking about cw generators, I saw the one at Fermilab last week. Absolutely a work of art
I think the tour guide said it got up to 750kV

@W5VO We need a "green with envy" smiley in this place.
Now I've got to figure out how to convince my wife to visit Illinois with me the next time we go on vacation in the US.

6:56 PM
@JRE No I don't turn my problems into your problems. But I can't stop you from believing what you want to believe. So that's up to you.
@JRE I'll make a deal with you. Next time I'll say I don't know anything about anything with total disregard for what I do know and we'll see how it goes. I already have a very good guess at what is going to happen. But lets give it a shot since you think I'm making my problems your problems.
@JRE I was already moving on from that conversation. But since you brought it back up, lets make a deal.

@W5VO Yeah, rub my nose in it. :) Lots of cool photos.

@W5VO Do you remember our discussion about LEDs and rock salt? I ended up buying a 12 volt, 3 watt LED from the hardware store. Had some fun hooking it up, too.

10:05 PM
@JRE . . Nice project you have. Also, as I read your page, I realized that I too reach for a Nano just like I used to grab an op amp.

JRE
@Marla Thanks. Nanos are the 555 of this decade. Ubiquitous, cheap, easy to use.

Many of the the nano's here. Jelly beans now to me.
Yup. I haven't used a 555 in a while.
I was going to use the word ubiquitous, but my speller here didn't remember well

The power supply was just because I didn't have any thing really fitting at hand, but I think I'm going to keep it in the final project - though I'll probably make the coil out of something more dignified than a toilet paper roll.
