Does using the word "electronical" make you sound like a dumba$$, or is it accepted in the realm of EE?

@YetAnotherRandomUser . . I look down on its use, but I wouldn't thrash someone too much if they use the word.

Any change if it's in a resume?

I don't think I've ever heard of that expression lol. I know what "mechatronic" is.

mechatronic is a degree

If used on resume, I would raise an eyebrow, but I wouldn't disqualify an applicant.

2:54 AM
sweet, hire me? lol

One thing that I have seen on resume is "etc". And I did dismiss the applicant.
A resume is no place for etcetera

@Marla LOL
I remember one time we were interviewing a person with a Ph.D. but they didn't have any technical skill whatsoever. It was unfortunate. The candidate was a really nice person and their partner was a medical doctor in this city.
(tried to keep it as gender neutral as possible)

@KingDuken . . even I sometimes have difficulty with the neutral.

(I keep forget about the loud DONG sound and it startles me every time because I have headphones lol). I believe saying "they", "them", or "their" instead of "he or she", etc...
... is considered gender neutral

Yes, but then it sounds plural.

neutral is the 31st gender in NY. I guess. Must be why it's not listed on their friendly PDF explaining the 31 genders there.

Not really a political correctness thing, but just more of a guise for identity. It does sound plural but I can't think of a "singular" gender neutral pronoun.

they/their can be singular or plural

And on a quiet evening, that DING can be terribly loud.

I wonder why it's a feature. I mean, it's effective in giving someone attention.

On my PC, while using another tab, the Ding is helpful.

@Marla yeah, whatever we do about that is a kludge :P one of the many annoying infelicities of the English language, right there with "and/or" for inclusive-OR vs. just "or" for exclusive-OR :P

XOR = one or the other? :P

4:23 AM
@KingDuken yup
but not both :)

Questions that are, "I was wondering . . . . ". Sounds off topic. What do you think ?

Q: How do memory seats keep track of their position?

Doc47I was wondering how do memory seats keep track of their position. Since this kind of equipment existed in 1990's cars, it must be simple yet ingenious. I have been thinking about this for quite a time now and cannot figure out how it works (without tearing apart a donor car). So as to keep it si...

I didn't see any question on Meta that discussed the "I was wondering"

Hey Marla, customer sent in those SSR-250R tubes for testing... four of them... with three having broken top posts. The broken ones were leaking a smelly oil. Any idea of the chances that oil being PCB? (Poly-chlorinated biphenyl, known carcinogen, banned since 1979 or so.) I put all of them into several plastic bags (using gloves), just in case.
