Not photography, but since it's about color, might be interesting for someone:

Q: How to make a color APPEAR the same on different backgrounds?

BaumrBackground on color perception: Due to the nature of the human eye and visual processing by the brain, there's an optical illusion that the same color will look different depending on the background. It is known as the contrast effect, illustrated below — center rectangles are identical: An...

http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/34088/why-does-higher-aperture-less-light-make-an-image-sharper

Three close votes, and fair enough there is an exact opposite question about why images are blurrier wide open. And some other questions that answer various aspects. But if this one is closed, I don't think it will be easy for people to find the other answers if they search "why is smaller aperture sharper?" Rather than close, would it be better to just lock the question with all its references to answered questions?

nice picture on the front page :)
for some reason this image is very good: dr.dk/imagescaler/…
I'm trying to analyse why
and if it is just me, ir it is objectively a very good image
and it is really up close but still wideangle wihtout extending his nose

Am I right here to ask whether a question I have is fine enough for posting it?
sure
just got in the mail today:
i would like to know how documentary photographers handle payment of people they photograph, e.g. a child living on the street. Do you pay them?
I was wondering if this question is clear enough or if it leaves to much room for discussion
@PatrickR. there is a tag that that might fall under
19:13
@Aaron So then it might be ok that there's no final answer to this question?
ok i still have to learn how to deal with the chat system
@PatrickR. well, some photography stuff is subjective anyways, so I'm not completely sure it's a horrible question
@Aaron ok that's a point. So I'll just go for it. We'll see what comes out :)
@Aaron thank you :)
have you had a chance to play with it yet aaron?

Hi All, I am formatting brand new card in brand new camera and it have been about an half an hour since I started. I s this normal?
32GB
Class 10
no
format it in a cardreader
Well now I am worried to just switch the camera off
@MichaelNielsen Can it not damage either of them?
20:15
you risk corrupting hte data that is not on it anyway, meaning you have to format it afterwards, which you intend to do anyway
Im cooking a dish I never made beofre: ehtiopean lamb stew
@Francesco wrap your ears around this: youtube.com/watch?v=tmDXzLw5L2E
I guess I will wait untill the battery runs dry
20:30
that will be the same as if you cut it
just do it and see if it works in a card reader to format it
my danish way of phrasing things doesn't always translate well to english
21:00
@MichaelNielsen I just popped it on to see if it worked, looks good so far, and looks sharp enough in some test shots
So are there any lenses which actually DO have front element rotating during focussing? I understand why that's not desirable, but I haven't seen one yet that does that
21:15
the cheap 70-300mm does rotate in front
and my kit lens did
non usm ones
22:03
fidn some people to shoot at F1.8-2.8, and enjoy the smooth bokeh :)
23:02
@MichaelNielsen I already had the 50 1.8, I wonder how many cheap lenses there are to get under 1.8 though
the 50mm 1.4 isn't obscene, but that's the only one I think
23:16
pentax M 50 1.4
its amazing
I paid 60$ for it
back in film days that lens for for the rich people :)

@Aaron ohh very nice, i love that lens
@MichaelNielsen i agree! thanks :P
@mistrfu i can format a 64GB class 10 UHS-I card in my DSLR in about 15 seconds, even the low level format that takes the longest.
@MikeW even closed questions still appear on the site, and if they are closed as duplicate of other questions they will link to the duplicate right at the top of the question to direct users to the other question. Doesnt that take care of this concern?
@dpollitt yes it does. I wasn't sure if anyone could see those or not.
@MikeW yes. i just tested the theory. went to the homepage in a browser that i'm not logged in under, and this question appears: "What pros and cons of 6D vs 60D vs 650D? [duplicate]"
then if i open up the question it has the duplicates listed at the top
@dpollitt why didn't I think of that?
I just realized that Canon has a G15 now. It is getting a bit ridiculous. I had a G9 and that wasn't even that long ago, soon they will have the G22, G49, G106
progress is good i guess. i'm just surprised at the high model count
They even look identical to the G7 which is kind of funny
if someone told me that was the canon G15 i would believe them, and its the G7 from 2006
