@StevePemberton sorry about that, I agree with your point btw, I don't understand logic behind when and why comment sections are moved, I'll think twice before commenting from now on, to avoid feeding this

@jkztd - it's no problem and I think overall it's a good system, it keeps the comments section from getting too lengthy and it does sort of impose a discipline to keep comments on topic. I don't know the exact criteria I just know I normally can sense when it is reaching that point like I did this time. My only complaint is the damage that I think it does to posts by removing the relevant comments that in my opinion enhance most posts. As I mentioned these are usually the earlier ones

so if they simply cut off the comments at a certain point and all additional comments can only be made in chat, this would seem to provide the same benefits without damaging the post. I can imagine someone will say, but "the "good" early comments are not deleted just moved to chat and accessible there. Sure that sounds nice in theory, but in reality good comments moved to chat will likely never be read again by anyone except for the two or three people who got into the extended dialogue.

@StevePemberton @jkztd If that happens, feel free to raise a flag on the post and write a message to the mods asking us if we can restore the valuable comments. We're happy to do that.
