I did too. It took me a few months to get it down.

I really started getting it when I implemented a VSDiagnostic's GetHashcode analyzers and quick fixes.

And then I learned more about it when I was doing the readonly analyzer/fix for Roslyn.

That was a fun one.

I'm going on 6 months of trying to get it. I feel like I understand it. I believe can use it correctly when coding in C#. Just reading and the nomenclature throws me under the bus.

It was going to be removed.

Now it is going to the store and just having a couple features killed, IIRC.

@shadowofsilicon Gimp is good too, but I use Irfanview for most quick things - it loads fast and is feature rich

@ThunderFrame Ifranview looks to be too basic for my tastes… I prefer a feature-rich editor. Gimp is a PITA IMHO; I get frustrated that it looks like Photoshop but doesn’t act like it.

Try Adobe Photoshop Elements.

It comes with two parts: a very powerful editor, although not full PS, and an organizer.

It is much more powerful than iPhoto, though, and not quite as simple as a result.

How does it handle photos on an ideological level? I really like iPhoto in that it abstracts the file-level details away from the user. I don’t care about the files, I care about the photographs.

It just works.

It always wants to save edited files as .ps4, or whatever, but you can override it easily.

@shadowofsilicon meh, I have Photoshop, Paint.Net and Gimp installed. But for quick edits/crops Irfanview loads in 0.1 seconds and has a batch mode. It's really lightweight, and great for simple edits, but of course can't compete with real editors.

But other than that, you can just pretty much open any (image) file type and save as any file type.

I've not used the organizer much, I organize my photos in folders on my HDD.

The editor is really good, though, with three modes for your skill set or the level of edits you want to make.

You know what the single bloody hardest thing about RD's UI is?

Not having a central place to define styles.

If you want a custom styled control that is usable in multiple places with minimal effort, you have to create a full child control.

I did most of the work on the backend and a non-insignificant part of the UI. Mat did the core UI.

@Hosch250 I have a command to export all components in a project. I modified the Code Explorer context menu to decide whether to use Export or ExportAll depending on what is selected. Problem is, it's not hooking the ExportAll command (in the Rubber duck.UI.Command namespace) and I don't know what I need to do next. Put this attribute on the ExportAllCommand class: [CodeExplorerCommand].

It will automatically find it and pass it in then.

It is. I've got a cold.

Nothing very bad yet, just tired, weak, and generally not at my best.

I was hoping to go on a long bike ride and walk my dog.

I'm just glad I probably won't have to skip any work this time.

Last time, I came home early on Friday, then slept it off and came down Sunday night and was too sick to go in on Monday, and had to skip some time on Tuesday/Wednesday too.

@Hosch250 we parse the bracketed enum members, but have no chance of reliably being able to parse the bracketed enum name, once VBE removes the brackets.

If only all viruses were like this. I've only felt sick on and off.

I'm so glad it is just a cold. One of our friend's grandchildren has kidney cancer.

They had surgery today, and think they got it all, but the tumor had already burst. Meanwhile, the poor thing has spots on its lungs.

At this age and with this aggressive of a cancer, I wouldn't bet she will live 12 months.
