is there a known good resource to read about when to use async vs not? some of the data access code I have (which I adapted from somewhere) used the structure of public Task<T> GetData() => Task.FromResult(ActuallyGetTheData()) and I realized when looking it over again that I cannot actually explain why I am doing that vs. directly returning the data, which I don't think is a good thing.

I think Task.FromResult is the wrong one to use here. What you actually want is Task.Run so you actually get the benefits of async

hmm ... apparently chocolatey does not want to install gnupg on appveyor...
why, though?
relatedly: why is the default timeout for chocolatey install operations 45 minutes????

> Thinking perhaps we should consider updating the UI at each x% of tests executed, rather than every time.

Testing GUI is horrendously inefficient and slows down quickly with the number of tests.
