[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] build for commit 6ce51714 on unknown branch: AppVeyor build succeeded

Hmm... getting tons of errors loading VB6 projects... I have a hunch that VB6 is so old that it just might hate that I'm running Windows on F:
which is, uh, frustrating.

[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] build for commit 6ce51714 on unknown branch: 52.22% (target 0%)

@Duga hmm inclined to force AV to fail if it can't compile using MIDL. I don't want any release versions without the MIDL-compiled TLB....

Thinking I should have gone the VM route for Win7 :-(
virtualbox or vmware?

I use VirtualBox.

I use vmware personally.

I like that VirtualBox is all free. I know VMWare has a free edition, but I wonder how many goodies they hold back
going with VB

10:28 PM
I would use MS Hyper-V but you then can't also use VirtualBox for things that Hyper-V won't run.

not sure if you're referring to ESXI but the other aspect is that ESXI can't be used on a single machine.
need a 2nd machine to remote to it. Which I prefer anyway.

@mansellan VirtualBox is free except for the Oracle logo, that taxes your soul.

lol!

does VB try to install Java and Yahoo toolbar?

VirtualBox here. I like that it's in my Linux repo. :-D

10:31 PM
@ThunderFrame checks EULA very carefully

@ThunderFrame Isn't there a non-branded version that doesn't include the proprietary Oracle stuff, or is that gone now.

@this I don't think so, but pay attention, it's Oracle

wait, why do I have to sign the EULA in goat's blood?

@ThunderFrame Larry says: Thank you for funding my 57th yacht.

Ah, yes - VirtualBox OSE. virtualbox.org/wiki/Editions
IIR it doesn't have USB pass-through support, but it's been years since I checked.
Does RD already check the processor architecture somewhere?

10:35 PM
@Comintern pretty sure we don't care

Pretty sure I care. ;-)

why?

@Comintern the installer used to care

actually my qnap has VM capabilities which will probably be the long term plan, it's got plenty of resource. for now I'll just throw together a quick local one.

It effects the translation of variant types. I need to do this: {VarEnum.VT_I8, _ProcessIs32Bit ? Tokens.Variant : Tokens.LongLong}

10:38 PM
Hmm, action, iirc, the installer used to care about office bitness, not os bitness

Mine would be the same - the bitness of the current process.

ask the great and terrible Win32 API.
(I kid, I think .NET framework now has it in the Enviromental static class)

Oh, I know how to do it. I just figured if it was already checked somewhere that I wouldn't reinvent the wheel.
@this IIR that isn't reliable.

yes, i'm 99% sure we aren't asking somewhere else.
oh, GTK. Back to the great and terrible Win32 API then.

@MathieuGuindon I've failed at finding the icons in the resources folder. Can I get a breadcrumb as to where they're located?

10:41 PM
@this OK. I'll pay no attention to the process behind the curtain.
2
@IvenBach You mean on the file system or in VS?

@Comintern ^ The icons for the type.

They're in Rubberduck.Resources\Icons

:barf: \Rubberduck.Resources\Icons\Fugue\... I deserve a fish-slap for that...

Wow, I was completely overthinking that. private static readonly bool ProcessIs32Bit = IntPtr.Size == 4;

11:23 PM
Google is serving me up an RD issue as the 4th result for "TKIND_ALIAS". Not sure if that should make me happy or sad.
