That wouldn't be the first time that a Hamas or a PIJ rocket misfires and kills Gaza residents, or overshoots and kills west bank Palestinians. It also doesn't match current IDF ROE, that has used multiple ways of communication to warn before attacks. While it doesn't directly answer the question, but if the IDF doesn't take responsibility on the attack, it wouldn't post a tweet that takes responsibility on any of its channels.

It also wouldn't be the first time that the IDF bombed a hospital, after giving an evacuation order. There have been over 100 attacks on healthcare facilities alone, thus far. This is part of the IDF's strategy of terror and group retribution.

@Fizz, yes he did. But he is not an official spokesperson, he is just a private citizen. citizens make mistakes due to a lack of knowledge. We now have more than just the raw footage of the misfire, we have recording of Hamas operative discussing this and admitting (among themselves) that it was a PIJ rocket, just as we have with Malaysia air and Russian operatives in Donbas.
I wasn't an interception, as it would be (to the best of my knowledge) that a rocket is intercepted over Gaza. Also, you can see other footage of interceptions, barrages are intercepted together, not just one rocket.

TBH it's not clear if it was a single R160 or one of the more regular Qassam (sp?) that fell on the hospital. The al-J live footage suggest the former, with only one large projectile visibly breaking up before impacting.
Channel 12 posted some footage claiming that it was one rocket part of a typical barrage of small rockets... but that couldn't have caused much damage, and in their own footage one can see a slower, larger projectile rising from a different location than the rest. They (Channel 12) alas din't seem to notice that. They also only captured one impact and not two like al-J.

The Guardian also says that Hamas claimed to have fired an R160 around 8:15 theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/18/…
The map they provide shows roughly two impacted areas: a car park with burned cars and the inner courtyard of the hospital where apparently most of the casualties were.
