@DannyuNDos Hmm, can you give an example? I'm not sure what you mean
In particular, I'm not totally sure what you mean by "thrown" (and also "initial object")
For example, consider the failure monad Maybe. For every failure, it mashes them all to Nothing. Likewise, the list monad mashes every failure to empty list. So far from this observation, every failure seems to factor through fmap absurd :: Functor f => f Void -> f a. Is this true?
Btw, I decided to post the said question to MSE.
Nevermind, I can set X = 0.

@Ginger Type theory might actually be a fairly good way to mathematically represent gender and relationships

@Ginger Gender identities would be types/typeclasses and relationships would be functions
Actually substitute "relationships" with "romantic/sexual identities". E.g., gay<G>(G, G)

Q: Why do some languages have immutable "variables" and constants?

QAHSome programming languages (Rust is one I can think of off the top of my head) provides mechanisms to have immutable variables but they also have constants. Isn't an immutable variable just a constant? What advantage is there in supporting both?

Q: Is there a difference between Rust's `macro_rules!` and Scheme's `syntax-rules`?

cevingThis is an example for the use of Rust's macro_rules!: macro_rules! add{ ($a:expr,$b:expr)=>{ { $a+$b } }; ($a:expr)=>{ { $a } } } A similar example for Scheme using syntax-rules could be: (define-syntax add (syntax-rules () (...

Q: Syntax highlighting for Rust destroys correct indent level

cevingWhile writing a question I noticed, that it seems to be impossible to get the indenting right. The following screenshot shows, that the indent of the single $a is wrong, although it had been right in the source code of the question.

@Ginger turing complete? i prefer tinder complete
23:15
@Ginger If you used Scala, you'd've been able to use singleton objects
Don't use Kotlin, though, because every class would have a companion, making your service unnecessary
23:42
Singleton objects in Kotlin don’t have companion objects
