Q: A smidgeon meta

QuantumFoolThe sentence on the other side of this post is false. The sentence adjacent to that sentence is not needed, but take the sentence out and the post falls apart. This post doesn't make sense, but then this post does make sense. The sentences in this post are each manifestly self-consistent. Thi...

Q: Should I add a hint to my question?

Fabian RölingI have a puzzle that is months old: Find the hidden message! The solution can basically be broken down to three steps, the first was already done by Joe-You-Know, the third should be pretty easy. But apparently nobody knows the second step. I personally don't consider it extremely hard, but that...

Further hint for my C4: I am in the UK.
That hint is ... surprising.
surprising as in, how is that even relevant to the C4?
16:07
Okay, I've give the hint some thought now and I don't find it surprising anymore. (My first impression was that "I" was the answer, but it is Gareth, of course. Apparently, I've been looking a too many riddles here.)
The c4 sounds like it should work as a definition

Q: A Fun, Fantastic, Phonic Cipher!

yummypastaAn old friend of mine recently sent me an email. Being a linguist, he always finds creative (read: annoying) ways to use his words to baffle me. After about five minutes, I usually just give up. However, recently I discovered about this fantastic website! Here's the email: > aych ee ell ell oh! >>

Q: Bike Lock Word Ladders

SlowMagicWe are going to construct word ladders, but unlike the classic word ladders in which only one letter can change per step, you may change as many letters as you like at each step. However, each letter can only move up or down one click in the alphabet. For example, BOOMERS changes to COOLEST in ...

@GarethMcCaughan It's FOETAL = (LATE OF)< ("having lived in reverse"). Benjamin Button is born as old man and grows younger. The short story by F Scott Fitzgerald ends with early-childhood oblivion, but the film has Benjamin die (1st hint). "Foetal" is spelled "detal" in the US (2nd hint).
(I first thought that the first hint referred to different US states: the short story takes place in Baltimore, MD and the film in New Orleans, LA. I also briefly pondered "state of Benjamin" = Israel / IL)
20:38
@MOehm Yes! (Except that of course you mean "fetal" rather than "detal" :-).)
I hope the hints weren't too much.
I never saw the movie, so I assumed it ended as the story did
You mean "too much" as in giving it away too easily? No.
CCCC: After reversion, old airy mansion accomodates many (6)
Ah, from one clue involving reversals and domiciles to another. Nice!
The solution, of course, is MYRIAD.
Oh, damn, shouldn't have done that. I have to make another one now.
Yes, that's it. But it was just a clue I had ready; I hadn't thought about the thematic segue.
What a stroke of good fortune!
