Q: Japanese Odd Sum Sudoku

Jeremy DoverThe Grandmaster Puzzles blog had a recent set of "Japanese sums" puzzles, and the mechanics of those puzzles gave me the idea for a Sudoku. It's not too hard, so I hope you enjoy! The Sudoku grid below follows normal Sudoku rules. The clues on the outside of the grid are the "Japanese sums" for t...

Q: Knight tour on a racetrack

Mike EarnestHelp the chess knight complete four clockwise laps on this racetrack, so that he lands on every square and never lands on the same square twice! The final square the knight lands on will be the same as its starting square. In other words, find a closed knight's tour on this funnily-shaped board w...

CCCC hint: the second letter is P

Is there a dictator whose name starts with SP?

9:50 AM
@Anonymus25 spez? Seems like an unkindly description though

@Jafe spearmint? "Dictator" is a homophony indicator, and the word is "spear" heading the ending of "parləmint"; "showing" is a connector. But "terrible, terrible taste" makes no sense as a definition, so I guess I must be wrong....

1:50 PM
the definition is def wrong

It could be Oppressor for no reason other than it means Dictator and its second letter is P

@msh210 Decent shout I reckon. Spearmint can taste very bitter to some people. Maybe it's Jafe's kryptonite? (Or pickles...??)

@msh210 this is actually correct, although with different wp (dictator is not an anagram indicator)

msh210 said it was a homophone, not anagram, indicator

oh yeah i meant "not a homophone indicator"
sorry, brain still waking up

inject coffee, I hear it works wonders

it does

9:36 PM
@Jafe Is the intended wordplay SPEAR + MIN + (-parliamen)T instead?

humm i was thinking (a > SPEAR)MIN plus _T but that also works
apologies for the definition, it worked better in my head

10:07 PM
@msh210 should take the next one - all the heavy lifting (and I didn't have it spot on myself).
@Jafe So what's your beef with spearmint? :)
(Really don't recommend that flavour combination by the way - beef and mint are not good plate-fellows...)

10:19 PM
hehe i don't mind spearmint but my kid absolutely hates it

11:01 PM
@Jafe that part definitely thew me for 6
