Q: Pirate Blurpwhicks Level

Radhato(The story below is not part of the puzzle. If you want to jump straight into the challenge, you can skip ahead to "The Island") Prelude It's been a day just like any other day of the week. You have been working from dawn to dusk and nothing special happened neither at work nor during the tim...

@Techidiot But where are the Western state and the duty? Europe could be EC (European Community) and keeping me in would yield E(I)C or probably E(stuff + I)C.

@Techidiot "Western state" could be CITE backwards (going west). But that leaves "has one duty - to keep me in Europe" entirely out.

Hmm.. I was assuming Europe to be EU and didn't took it into consideration
Yeah.. That next part is too log to fit with just a few letters left

7:50 AM
(once again, an opportune break among my pantheon)
Thank you for the movie lead, @TheGrE, what a kaleidoscope! (With its parts rotating and reflecting, wouldn't you know, seems a few reviewers thought of the same word.)
Apr 16 at 13:29, by TheGreatEscaper
Cloud Atlas. It's a bit long at around 3 hours
Wikipedia entries for the book and movie, together with a relatively short "Making of" video have been a good place to start while tracking down the full movie.
Spoilers of art works can actually add a magnitude of enjoyment.
TheGr, on days I'll never understand you or my brother remind me of each other. (...deliberate grammar, awkwardly well meant.)

8:32 AM
@humn is today a favourite? :D

Do not get me started. (It's your turn)
(for a video. might be the only way to nip this)
(that last one for you was one I tried for months ago and finally found)
[editor's note: big difference between raw tracks and soundboard edits]

Can't think of anything right now, how about something perfect...?

(stereo on!) (neighbors....)
Close enough to perfect! (are you into mouths as much as somn?)

Into mouths? "some"? Um, I have no idea!

Not trying to be naughty!
Seriously, some can recognize eyes, or hairline or numerical factors.
Some recognize mouths.
And that video is a mouth performance.

8:49 AM
Oh, well obviously not then, I had no idea

Thank you, from mouths anonymous.

hehe
Could be subconscious I guess

You just surmised a mouthful.

Not disappointed (even before you said that)

8:51 AM
:p

And now even less so (now that the neighbors and i're hearing it)

I put this on as a closer at 6am when the bouncer said it was time to wrap it up :)
many years ago now

You always wanted to be (and was) a DJ too (U lwz wtd2b(&z)ADJ2)!

hehe (DatCodezIzEZ2C&!EZ2Read)

(prvs: Around here it seems everyone can read my mind and d't'd'@'d'c'd'ring)
Did you just 80roll us? (Kinda nice, don't mind)

9:01 AM
Somebody Cried "Why why why?!"
Well I'm gonna put this on, its a whole album...

Still catching up with:

Well it's very good IMO, think you will probably like it.

(quick, please link if you're being specific. If not, both of the last couple are vg)

was referring to the Mystic Crock album above

AFK! (Dancing around)

9:06 AM
:)

(It made is still making me take big steps, if you can call that dancing)
(you dog, JA, that Mystic Crock drowned out the cat alarm, the rain, and sirens (for some other cause fortunately).)

Is that good or bad?
what is a cat alarm?

Cat's unharmed, physically. The rain didn't soak the open windows.
No wind blew in (no) bad news.

(making you aware of the presence of unwanted cats, or aware of present danger to you cats?)
got ya
torrential downpurrr :p

9:21 AM
!

after 20 years my sister's cat has fiinally decided he's too old to bother with attacking everyone else. (Only cat I've ever known who didn't seem to like me)

Have to ask: So after 20 years the danger still bothers to attack you?
Don't take it personally!
(seriously, as funny as that was meant to sound)

He's a funny old chap now.

May we all live to 20. 20 hundred that is.
And develop a sense of humor along the way.

20 years is a lot for a cat and he must have been at least 18 months when my sister took him in.
Definitely was seriously abused

9:26 AM
OOooooooooooOOOOOO
At least life got better!

that is for sure
Esp when she moved from the 14th floor of a tower in Manchester to an old railway station in the middle of the Welsh countryside

This neighborhood has a nonstop parade of cats who've never known better. (Un)fortunately some had known worse.

All the mice and birds he could eat :p

You've just laid out a (still looking for a better word) setting, but thanks. It's like being there.

AFK 5mins - coffee..

9:31 AM
(that last video still has 47 minutes to go, take your time)

It seems The Collective has become lazy. (the culture I make my sourdough bread from has been in ferment for 12.5 hrs and only a sprinkling of bubbles on the surface, must be cold.)

What could whip them into shape?
My pappy made a big deal of getting culture from the old country and it turned out to be a great excuse for visits.
Now he gets sourdough from air yeast.

Sitting in my lap would probably do it! But they'll get round to it eventually, they always do

yes mine is from the air (plus grape skins).
probably mostly from the grape skins

9:45 AM
"Lap" yeast sounds like the moist fun.

:)
Oh my, album paused

^that's a song, it just has an intro

yes thats why

They turn science lectures into songs.
It's actually interesting.

ah reminds me of Mandelbrot Set...
use HD 720
Eyes funny by the end

9:51 AM
great words!

yep
shame it has f-word or I could play it to my mice & nephew :p

oh the niece is nice? (3 stooges movie)

heh...
mice.
That is a genius geek song.

!

I'm a nerd. What can I say.

9:55 AM
You are JC?

(prev ref: before long, no doubt, everyone you shield from naughty tickles will think they're shielding you from 'em)

I once gave a talk "be kind to nerds day"
And used a Dr. Seuss book (If I ran the Zoo) as a prop.
My cry was "Nerd time's a charm!"
Some nerd corrected it to "Nerd time's the charm."
We (both being nerds, of course) were both right, of course.

definite or indefinite could both be acceptable IMO

10:01 AM
Naturally.

Q: Delete a digit then sum

Jamal SenjayaTake a number $(x)$, then create a complete list of numbers by deleting one digit from the number $(x1,x2,...,xn)$. If the sum of $(x1,x2,...,xn)$ is equals x we call the number is a special number. Example : 1729404 = 729404 (delete 1) + 129404 (delete 7) + 179404 + 172404 + 172904 + 172944 + ...

They look a bit like characters. Have you convolved and then taken the low bit, or something?
But if they actually are characters, I am unable to read them.

Those above are straight outer products, each component to binary, so there should be 8 rectangles total (but had to crop)

("I cannot read the binary letters", said Gareth in a quavering voice. "No", said humn, "but I can. The letters are Humnish, of an ancient mode, but the language is that of Puzzling, which I will not utter here.")
I could almost believe that there's some weird overlaying-of-letters thing going on, but I can't actually see anything of the sort.

^ That's what I want to try next, a 3-D approach.

@GarethMcCaughan ooh, are you interested in the writing challenge that I just set up on Writers? :P

Q: Writing challenge - test run! April 20, 2017 - May 11

MithrandirOver on this post, it was discussed whether or not we should have writing challenges on Meta. The result: we give it a try, and see how it works. That's the point of this post! Here's how this will work: The plan was for there to be a (optional, I think) prompt, to help inspire you to write. ...

@Mithrandir Dunno, but the ability to take two sentences of Tolkien and replace a couple of words in them is not strong evidence of writing skill.

@GarethMcCaughan I know. I'm just spamming :P

Write on! Sing out!

Writ eon! Sin gout!

O na non!
(the meta.writers site is somehow writers.meta and not working for me)

^ for a good Time ^ (that worked)

user278208
@humn Your puzzles are simply fantastic ! The enigma remains in my head still forever, even the puzzle is completed, your poetic words have a deep beauty, above my comprehension.

my dear humn, you know that I can't hear songs right now. It must be such an amusement for you :p

Sing your own while others listen.

@manshu I am the dragon.

Rand al'Thor, also known as the Dragon Reborn, is the fictional main character and protagonist of The Wheel of Time, a series of fantasy novels by Robert Jordan. Rand al'Thor has many other titles within the series: among Wetlanders: The Dragon Reborn, Lord of the Morning, Prince of the Dawn, True Defender of the Light among the Aiel: He Who Comes with the Dawn, Car'a'carn (Chief of Chiefs) among the Atha'an Miere (Sea Folk): Coramoor (The Chosen One) among wolves: Shadowkiller == Description == Rand is depicted as having gray or blue (interchanging) eyes and reddish hair and is good looking. @Randal'Thor You just woke the dragon.
Only it looks sort of more like an owl than a dragon this time.

Yeah. It's odd that the tiger turned into an owl.

11:42 AM
@manshu , as in?:

What are you talking about? I didn't say anything.

That was Emrakul trying to spoilerize your intergalatic phone number

@humn damn...last time you did this, I had to put my phone switched off for whole 8 mars days.

That was the only way to restore entropy to the universe...
It was a close call.
And a good time.

Yeah. I got that signature for the return of the entropy.
